  1. TOR-NE is interesting in that I don’t think the Revs had shown white shorts and socks with their new away kit at all before …. think I like this better for them though, at least with the faux-River Plate shirt.
  2. I mean, this is all just speculation here, I don't think any of us have inside info.
  3. Well, still a decent chance of a Boston/Denver final somewhere, at least.
  4. thing is, that property is kinda some distance out from downtown Oakland, no? Feasibility aside, the thing with the other new stadium sites is that they’d bring the stadium much closer to the center of population/disposable income in Oakland,
  5. Would be a fun night to wear a Celtics t-shirt and a Red Sox at on the Broad Street Line.
  6. I don’t imagine CFG acquiescing to a second division anything in America, but I also don’t imagine NWSL being ready for two teams in the same market even five years from now, but I also don’t imagine they’d turn down CFG’s monopoly money. Anyway, who knows what any of these will look like that many years from now. To my knowledge we haven’t had any rumors about CFG wanting into NWSL this far, so…
  7. lol we’re talking about Oakland, not Stockton. We’re a lot closer to the Brooklyn Nets than the Hartford Whalers here. Or would be, normalizing for sandbagging ownership.
  8. Tyronn Lue fits in here as well just a few years earlier. You can also throw last year's Finals runner-up, though he wasn't fired for basketball reasons. Yeah, it seems harsh given the circumstances and his overall body of work. I guess you an argue that if he hasn't become a "good playoff coach" now, when will he? But the risk of firing a guy is that then you need to hire a new one and presumably you want an upgrade. This is not a given. It wasn't so long ago this Bucks team was going nowhere fast under the stewardship of Jason Kidd.
  9. I haven't minded recent Liverpool kits, but it's nonetheless very refreshing to see them in a simple shirt that's just white and red, no weird darkened shades or trendy tertiary colors.
  10. They're also still co-owned by the governor of New Jersey, no? That would be fun optics. I'd imagine that + the team's lineage as decidedly New Jersey + the fact that rent will certainly be insane at the new place are all good reasons to stick it out at RBA. Unless CFG themselves want to get into the women's game here.
  11. Nashville had nine years of sub-16k attendance figures, but none in the past 15 years or so. Arizona has had every year of their 25 year existence at sub-16k. Every team has fallow periods of a few years; that's not the same as a team having a fallow period of its entire generation-long existence. Better to have one black eye than two, it's true. If taxes meant anything then the Blue Jackets and Pacers would have hall-of-famer stacked rosters, and Boston and Los Angeles wouldn't have sucked up so many collective championships this millennium. That's always been a nonsense argument proffered by people with ulterior motives.
  12. Ha, I feel like like it’s the purple jerseys that have too much gray. I like adding that color into their scheme (and I even like the gray jerseys themselves, provided they’re worn against appropriate opposition) but it’d work better if it was below black in the hierarchy.
  13. Why am I not surprised that TNT would give us the broadcast innovation of flying a drone around the arena only to get video with the quality of a 15-year-old video game. I hope it crashes into Donnie Wahlberg.
  14. Maybe you're right about the NFL but I can think of plenty of pretty significant color scheme changes in the NHL and MLB. Often multiple ones by the same team, not that far apart either.
  15. Good, Heritage Night for a 30 years dead league is fine but that’s no better in the actual Finals than Pretending To Still Have Oakland Street Cred Night. All of these are fundamentally marketing promotions, which i’m not opposed to (gives the design nerd stuff to talk about) but ought to be saved for when you need the marketing promotion.
  16. Hartford is the fourth-largest city in its own state and shrinking ever still, that ship sailed probably before the Whalers even got out of there. Among US markets I'd think one of those Midwestern cities that doesn't have hockey might be a more worthwhile punt.
  17. Those O.G. DC United and LA Galaxy teams both won all three plus Open Cup in three-year spans in the early years, when it was still called Champions Cup. I know everyone thinks 90s MLS was just bad uniforms and the giant shootout clock, but there you go.
  18. I never noticed the grey details on this Warriors uniform. Take away the big weird rose thing and it’s almost like a good version of the new Jazz era. Maybe the third team to attempt this color scheme and look will actually be an appropriate one to do so.
  19. Yes, Embiid really showed out in that literally meaningless end-of-season game against the Celtics, @BBTV. I'm sure you can also find a recap of his 1 career playoff win vs. Boston, or maybe his 8 losses.
  20. I never liked the Melo era Nuggets the way others did. I appreciate the attempt at something different but there were too many flaws at once -- color scheme leaning too light without enough navy for balance, an overwhelming number of outlines, Aachen Bold as font. All that together made the whole thing feel very washed out and mushy, despite the light colors in dazzle fabric. They made steps toward the end of that era toward rectifying some of those issues, only to eventually start over anyway.
  21. I thought that an injured Embiid may actually backfire on the Celtics. They've always played him as well as anyone has and have a long history of owning the Sixers in the playoffs every time. A diminished Sixers team gives them license to disengage, as they are wont to do, and that's exactly what happened. A less cynical view, but one that seemed to have truth to it last night, is that Horford is bizarrely good at containing Embiid (relatively) but, absent that job, kept getting put on Harden last night and got torched many times over. Mazzulla also never seems to have any ideas when this spiral starts. He’s not inspired much confidence in me.
  22. Is the home catering room at TD Garden poisoned or something? What is happening this week?
  23. Load management is the problem except when it isn’t.
  24. No Embiid, Celtics are shooting like 70 percent, the refs are calling it like they’ve got a 9:30 reservation at Neptune Oyster. So naturally we’re tied through 3.
  25. Celtics-Sixers game being played with all the aggression and intensity of an all star game.
