  1. That Wave stadium looks very cool and a better setup than even some MLS teams -- San Diego should have MLS at this point while we're at it -- but I absolutely hate the trend of turning stadium floodlights into club strobes. I would like to watch a soccer game, not be given a headache!
  2. There were some known issues with Canada unable to keep up with demand as the men's team improved even before Supply Chain Issues entered the regular discourse. I don't expect Nike to flip a switch and start treating Canada like one of their most elite contracts, but we're now at two years of renewed success of and interest in the men's team; if they cannot pivot whatsoever, I question the value of the Nike contract.
  3. Just change the name to the Land Cavs.
  4. First photo I’ve seen of the actual printing on the USA kit. Legitimately looks like a sketchy bootleg job by the print shop down the street. Just so many confounding decisions with this whole set.
  5. I actually love the color scheme and it's much better here than the previous version with the white drop shadow. It just ought to be a rarely-worn alternate jersey and not the ostensible replacement for the traditional purples.
  6. Guess we're just doing basic block for the text? Weird, very un-Nike choice. Mostly I am once again asking to pick a typeface and stick with it for several cycles. Miss the 06-12 numbering, as usual.
  7. Minnesota is almost onto something to salvage their brand with -- the new wordmark and design both feel like subtle/clever updates to the current brand. Just needs to be on navy instead of grey and it could be the new core brand (Seahawksy, yes, but who cares).
  8. This is really mindblowing. You'd think they at least could've got some new option from the 2022 teamwear catalog. Totally a missed opportunity, especially compounded with the documented difficulty of Canada MNT fans getting any sort of team gear during this cycle... Nike and Canada both losing a lot of dollars.
  9. Beautiful color and works perfectly with the white jersey, but all-teal is a little much for me. I think white jersey/teal pants and teal jersey/black pants would be an ideal look. The new number font almost gives me Fishsticks vibes but it's still an improvement over too-chunky block.
  10. I think they're just using a "crappy disposable film camera" filter across their promo for this.
  11. I mean it's basically just the original away they had in this set before they switched it with the black, but with the added stars in the side panels, right? Still, beats what they've been doing the last few years in the Nike era.
  12. The full Nike range and associated copywriter drivel can be seen here: https://about.nike.com/en/newsroom/releases/introducing-nike-s-2022-men-s-national-team-collections So the particular weirdnesses of the USA look are because we are celebrating all sports (but not baseball).
  13. It's a similar problem to what the NHL ran into with this -- the Great Lakes, and also Boston, and also Florida division.
  14. That part stands out for me as well -- I think partially because a hallmark of Nike NBA has been the simplest possible, single-color collar/arm trim. Like hardly any jerseys seem to have any design there unless they're old-school holdover designs that can't be altered without outcry.
  15. Cosign. This feels like one of the awkward mashup jerseys from last season. Continues the team tradition of black alternates, "PHX" alternates, gradients, and the Valley thing... but maybe isn't committing enough to any of them to be satisfying so it feels kinda middle-of-the-road out of that pack. I do think it's an improvement on the old orange one that just had the ball logo, though.
  16. He said throwbacks that the Spurs are wearing this year, which, yes.
  17. This is crazy! I can't believe this is true. (About LAG, that is.)
  18. Huh, so same font or close to it, but it looks radically different in this application (at least in my eyes). My biggest complaint with the core Brooklyn set is how crappy and spindly and condensed the numbers look (it's fine in the Brooklyn wordmark but the numbers look awful). So the bulked up look I think is an improvement, despite being tonal numbers and overall a silly uniform. I guess they've decided with the Basquiat Corpse-worship uniforms that they don't need two different street-art wordmarks, either. Bring back the original gray BKLYNs.
  19. Is that a new typeface for the Nets? Or does it just look radically different when it's tonal/outlined. Looks more like the new Utah than the "classic" (lol) Nets.
  20. I do not understand how Seahawks in neon green is not considered a light uniform. Hard to watch against Denver in all-white. Horrible lack of contrast.
  21. Sounds like the midseason tournament will be mostly designated "special" regular season games the way the WNBA is doing it... but, I guess it doesn't have to stay that way. 2 games against everyone, 1 extra against your conference (rotate home and away yearly), 1 extra extra against a regional rival maybe. 78 is probably an acceptable drop with some tournament nonsense to make up for it.
  22. 4 divisions of 8 teams could make for nice scheduling, though I'm having trouble figuring out a good way to put everyone into sensible pods of 8. This being the NBA, I could also see expansion being the reason to nuke the divisions and do something -edgy-, anyway. Maybe just do pure conferences with a rotation of who you play extra games against.
  23. Cincy should be good for a playoff spot at this point. Good for them! Miami haven't made that leap and I can't see this year's inconsistent Revs picking up all the points they need rest of the way.
  24. I mean it’s just all way too cramped isn’t it? Might’ve worked in a time before two ads on the front of the jersey.
  25. i thought the most recent home kit, used by the men and women both, already looked like a barely-altered version of the 2019 WWC kit. Solves the USA “identity crisis” I guess. Even if the latest version looks like a bad sewing job.
