  1. Spurs are going to run into this away to Brighton too, won't they? Their classic white plus two different blue shirts that are different design but not-so-much in hue.
  2. Right, the usual mix of deadstock plus regretted purchases and unwanted gifts from civilians... I've never found it difficult to find genuine product on eBay or Poshmark. Also easy to find the knockoffs, sure.
  3. Just incredible. Also fail to see how light greenish-blue is any better contrast with Brighton than the other options.
  4. All of them, really? Every New Era hat I've bought off eBay has been no different than one I've bought off Fanatics or purchased in a team store. Except for New Era's own sizing inconsistencies, of course.
  5. You can get the Red Sox via MLB.tv if you wanted though, right? I can't imagine they actually expect anyone to pay for the Fenway dating show and the obnoxious fisherman.
  6. good news is no MLB hat ever doesn’t end up on eBay for much cheaper before long.
  7. I have to think that, if NESN and the Bally networks have continued to stay out of combined streaming services AND invest in building out their own bespoke streamers, that suggests there are no plans for MLB.TV to lift blackout rules.
  8. I love baseball on the radio but that's because I've been blessed my entire life to have Joe Castiglione doing Red Sox games. They occasionally do him the indignity of pairing him with Lou Merloni, Sean McDonough or that one bizarre year with Chris Berman (!!). But Joe with a partner who stays out of the way is pretty close to a Scullyesque platonic ideal of baseball. (Also I'm not paying NESN $30/month for streaming their channel and their channel only.) (Speaking of NESN, though I watch them rarely anyway obviously, but bummed to hear that Dennis Eckersley is retiring from TV at season's end!)
  9. Big time “Mavericks trash bag uniforms” energy from these Southampton aways.
  10. Miazga was once the next big thing for the USMNT defense and was real hot when he moved from NYRB to Chelsea, but never seemingly panned out having rarely been a consistent first teamer anywhere he’s been. Also a cautionary tale for players moving to Big Clubs but Big Club just ends up loaning you out to a different other club every year. Maybe he’ll be a real star again if he can manage to actually get established some place.
  11. I suppose to be fair, there were regular disasters in the Puma era and even the end of the Nike contract (that purple and black striped number, what??). The return of Adidas has been frustrating because sometimes they're so close and sometimes there's this. Last year's away would've been a perfect Arsenal away kit if they didn't make it a pale lemon shade of yellow, just to be different. (Also pink seems like a generally weird clash choice for a red/white team.)
  12. Arsenal in pink just looks so weird to me that I can't move past it. That and I want the light blue to be more of a teal. Arsenal's been really into weird away kit colors in recent years and it just doesn't look right for them. Stick with yellow and dark blue!
  13. This I actually really like! Loved last year's fauxback/throwback for the 75th season. The Warriors have a lot of throughlines in their design history now -- the primary colors look, the trolley, the circle-bridge logo, the tilted Western 90s, the wacky lightning 00s. Plenty of stuff there to update or remix even if you're giving them six jerseys a year. Why introduce something new? Especially something with less personality than any of what I just mentioned?
  14. I haven't been keeping up with the Revolution closely this year, but pretty cool that they transferred in Altidore and Lletget and Gonzalez in winter 2022, and then transferred out Altidore and Lletget in summer 2022 while Gonzalez rots on the bench. The Bruce Arena Experience is never not a roller-coaster!
  15. Don Orsillo and an ambitious club befitting the market? Truly the nice-weather throwback version to the halcyon days of Red Sox baseball.
  16. I thought this frequently during the middle Henry era, where there was either a title or a dysfunctional last-place finish with no in-between. They seem to be settling in now, though, to one of those classic middle-ground filler teams. .500 records, the occasional appearance in an ALCS (but getting killed there), there's always next year. Which is a pretty wild place to voluntarily put yourself when you're the most successful team of the millennium and you charge the highest prices to your fans in the entire league, but I don't know how else to interpret the direction of the franchise.
  17. This is the most plausible explanation I can think of, which is a weird and seemingly legally dubious path for the NBA to go down next.
  18. Basically yes. Crappy pitching, amateur defense. Haven't seen a dynastic, over-resourced powerhouse of a team try so hard to be just another bog-standard, .500-at-best standings filler club before, but the Fenway Faithful are still paying those $$$$ I guess.
  19. Well, the Red Sox at first base this season have been Little League level, so getting Hosmer makes sense in that regard. But the overall strategy, if there is one, remains confounding.
  20. Also that MLS all-star jersey is very odd. With the collar and the full-length stripes, it looks like they pulled the template from the golf or training range. And are the applications (besides the sponsor of course) iridescent?
  21. The Galaxy are kind of doomed if they go that route, because anything with a modern and hyper-prominent LA monogram is going to look like LAFC-lite. They need to embrace their Galaxyness. That doesn't mean being annoyingly 90s -- although they could do that, as a contrast to LAFC's dull modernity. Adding the teal to the navy and gold, as has been suggested here and has been proven to work well via recent years of LA Galaxy brand assets, is a no-brainer.
  22. Let's give KD some credit here -- an athlete lacking any insight is nothing new, but his taste for exceptionally whiny quotes and Twitter fights are kind of above and beyond. I just had the image of him calling into Boston talk radio and trying to disguise his voice and nearly puked. It'll put the burner account thing to shame. No way any of this is a good idea.
  23. I was thinking this week how terrible the Red Sox City Connect jerseys look over the white pants. OTOH, I don't want any more of that banana color in my field of vision, either. So no good solution there.
  24. Bring back the Hard Rock Cafe. Just kidding.
