I'm a casual baseball observer, but it feels like the Padres keep getting the best guys on the open market. Shouldn't they be better?

They've been missing their (arguably) best player all season, and division-rival Dodgers are insanely good, but yeah, they should be. They're becoming Dodgers-Lite, with the scummy fan base seemingly included (based on some videos I've seen, anyway...I know every team has some bad fans, but it seems like Pads fans are getting worse)

  2. Based on the one time I was at Rogers Centre about 10 years ago, I think renovation is definitely needed. It was just dark and dingy in there (the roof was also closed due to rain), and the concourses werent anything special. I've never been to any of the other roofed stadiums, but it just didn't feel like I was at an actual baseball stadium.

Can we skip ahead to the time they bring back the kelly greens (or the old white + kelly green helmets) and just throw the black uniforms in the Schuylkill?

I'll settle for the yellow and blue ones. Well aware I'm in the minority, but I loved those.

  4. @BBTV As someone who's probably more familiar than i am, how much worse will this make traffic? I get that being right on top of a station is convenient for city residents, but I feel like this is going to be a nightmare for parking and traveling to a game. I already hate going to the current sports complex just because trying to leave is like a (normally) 30 minute trip that takes 2 hours.

The Canucks draft a Swedish left-handed player named Elias Pettersson. Not that Elias Pettersson, mind you, the other Elias Pettersson. 😛

My favorite part is that it's not even the first time this has happened for that franchise. They had 2 players named Greg Adams in the late 80s.

good god this looks like every "modern" script logo in the NFL. This sucks.

My first thought (other than the work I was going to have to do) was that it reminded me of the Lions wordmark, which also sucks. There's no character or charm whatsoever.

  7. I said it before, but I actually really like the Angels city connect stuff, despite both being a fan of most of the city connect series. Upon searching if hats were on sale (they are, and crazy expensive), I saw these shirts.

I kinda like the light blue in there and am curious why it's on this shirt (on the men's one too, so it's not just "pastel = ladies color" merch) and nowhere else.

I wonder what the story is behind that wordmark. My gut tells me it's not a faux back but i'm not sure

I'm sure we'll get more backstory with the official reveal, but I've heard the overall theme is just old-timey surf stuff. I'm curious what the diamond around the numbers is from.

The Sox were up on the O’s by 6 runs on two separate occasions tonight and still allowed 10 unanswered runs to finish 12-8 Birds. El. Oh. El.

I’m not gonna pretend like I’ve actually watched the O’s this year, but they do seem to have a fire about them. Still nowhere near competing but with Adley up, Grayson soon to follow hopefully, there’s actual, real hope and progress. Unbelievable.

I hope this isn't the case, but the O's have such a bad track record with their top prospect pitchers. I remember when Bundy, Matusz, Tillman and Britton were going to turn the franchise around. While there was some success, none of them really panned out for Baltimore. I just worry Rodriguez and D.L. Hall are going to go the same way. It just seems like Baltimore has terrible luck when their guys reach the majors.

Pujols' debut was in April 2, 2001

    Tom Brady's was November 23, 2000

Incredible the longevity of Brady's career but let's not forget Pujols.

No disrespect to Albert (okay, maybe a little), but Brady remained an elite quarterback in the league, whereas Pujols has barely been a replacement level player for the better part of a decade.

Brewers experience the nadir of their season on April 11, as they got shut out by the Orioles.

The Orioles have somehow won like 7 of the last 10 games I've been in attendance for, including today. It was also weird seeing, you know, people actually in the stands today.

Also, it was great to have a beer and a hot dog and watch a baseball game.

Really dig that cap logo, and I love the pants logo. The gradient looks really cool as a number outline and even the piping, but the socks are a bit much. Not a fan of those.

Overall, not too bad...one of the better city trash jerseys.

Once the balanced schedule takes effect, expect Phillies fans to take over OPACY every other year too.  It's a perfect easy road trip, except after the game is over you're in Baltimore.

You say this as if the surrounding area to the Philly sports complex is anything to write home about. It absolutely sucks there. Inner Harbor isn't bad at all, and there's plenty stuff to do within walking distance of the stadium.
