  1. Adding that Chili Bowl in Cincinnati would help with the potential restructuring of the bowl system with the expanded playoffs coming in two years. The idea I have is to put the remaining 36 bowl games into tiers with Tier 1 games being the oldest and most prestigious games (Sun Bowl, Gator Bowl, etc.) while Tier 6 are the newest bowl games (the Chili Bowl would go here)
  2. Never count out a Brady lead team, people. His BS magic is so powerful that even the crappiest of teams falter at its might. Now, let's see if the magic continues next week against a Carolina team that seems to be peaking at the right time.
  3. It feels really poetic that on the 50th anniversary of the Immaculate Reception, Pittsburgh plays the Raiders and one of the stars of that game passes away. You just can't help but think that everything about this game points to a Pittsburgh win.
  4. Flag on the play, use of Skip Bayless in anything outside of bashing him... Loss of down on the play.
  5. That sucks... but, on the bright side, he now has more time to play Call of Duty.
  6. Agreed. It smells fishy, but nothing will be done until after the World Cup ends. Speaking of the games... How about Morocco? They defeated Portugal 1-0 and become the first ever African nation to reach the semifinals. They call themselves the 'Atlas Lions'... I want to add 'Indomitable' next to it because that defense of theirs is damn near iron clad.
  7. It sounds like a crazy idea, and it is... but I think it might work. A few of these schools have enough ambition to move up to the FBS level, so this planned merger would help kill two birds with one stone: Those schools get to move up to the FBS level and the WAC (assuming that's the name of the conference here) gets to accomplish their goal.
  8. I think the move to Colorado is more about having a higher ceiling for Deion. At Jackson State, there wasn't much there. You have the SWAC Championship and the Celebration Bowl. That's it. Nothing else... the only way he gets more with the talent he has there was if they lost a game and got an at-large bid to the FCS playoffs, which is never a guarantee. Now, at Colorado, he has a chance to lead a team to much, much more: A conference championship, bowl games, a chance to be in the Rose Bowl or even a shot at the playoff. It's far fetched now... but, you never know. I mean, he is a very damn good recruiter.
  9. Well, that was a dud. That defense that was stout as hell in Group B play sure went missing when it matters the most. It also doesn't help that there's been no offense to speak of either in group play or here. This comes from the backdrop of of having the advantage in some key stats like possession, fouls, and corners. This was a winnable game, but they couldn't get it done. The good news is that the entire team is still young enough that they can all be back together in 2026 to make a run.
  10. You see, crap like that is why the Pac-12 can never have anything nice... like a playoff berth. Thanks a lot, Utah. You done screwed the conference over again.
  11. As things stand, it means a Date with the Dutch on Saturday. Wouldn't it be something for the Americans to beat the Ultimate Bridesmaid?
  12. I'm hoping so as well just to shut up the Iranian fans who complained about the flag in that social media post. Now that Group A is done, the Americans still have to do their part and beat Iran... but after they win (hopefully), their Round of 16 date depends on how England-Wales goes. If Wales wins, the Americans win the group and get Senegal on Sunday. If England wins or the game ends in a draw, then the Americans get the Netherlands on Saturday.
  13. Step 2? No... it should be Step 1. In everything else, head-to-head is always the first tiebreaker unless the teams in question didn't play each other. Since group play is basically round robin, head to head should be the first tiebreaker.
  14. Why is head to head results NOT a tiebreaker? Saudi Arabia defeated Argentina, yet Argentina is ahead of Saudi Arabia because they scored one more goal then the Saudis. Costa Rica defeated Japan, yet Japan is ahead of Costa Rica because they scored one more goal then Costa Rica.
  15. This might be the most awkward as hell World Cup ever, especially when Qatar isn't playing. There may not be a lot of fans in the stands (actual fans, anyway) and it feels artificial as hell.
  16. Wait.. the Sky Carp's mascot is named Poopsie? That might be the greatest name for a mascot ever.
  17. You forgot Kansas City (The Roos) getting stunned by D2 school Lincoln (Missouri).
  18. Yeah... we got a sort of Bishop Sycamore here. I say 'sort of' because there is an actual Toronto Prep, but not a West Toronto Prep. If you look up where this school is on Google Maps, it's a public park. Anyway. On to other things here. It's playoff time out here in the Northwest. So, a quick run down of what's going on here... Washington 1B - Naselle and Winlock advanced to the district round with Winlock getting hammered by Neah Bay last night and Naselle playing Tulalip Heritage this afternoon. Expect that game to get ugly. 2B - The crossover round saw Toledo win via forfeit against Ilwaco, Wahkiakum getting absolutely destroyed by top ranked Napavine and Kalama falling just short against Raymond/South Bend in overtime. 1A - Castle Rock finished in 2nd place in the Trico yet again and lost their crossover round game against Eatonville. This end the season for the Rockets. 2A - Mark Morris and Woodland made the crossover round with Woodland losing last night against W.F. West while Mark Morris plays tonight in Woodland against Black Hills. The recent downpours have made Longview Memorial Stadium an absolute mud puddle that can't be used for football (it didn't help that R.A Long had a District soccer game in the same conditions the night before). It would have been the final game on grass for the stadium as it will have a new artificial turf set for next season. 3A - Kelso is at home today to host Gig Harbor in the play-in round for 3A. A win means a trip to state and, if all holds well, a decent chance to maybe host a playoff game next weekend. Oregon 2A - In their first year at this level, Clatskanie made it to the playoffs as the 16th seed and were promptly sent back home after a 56-14 beating by Oakland (Yes, there is an Oakland, Oregon).
  19. There's not much the Mountain West could do since there's not that many D-I schools in that area. Denver might be an option, but that's a non-football school. There's many D-II schools in that area that the Mountain West could look at, but I highly doubt any of them makes the jump to Division I. On the Big XII side... sure. They could. But, who that could be is anyone's guess.
  20. This helps C-USA get to an even number of teams and they really don't have to do anything special. On the other hand... the A-Sun may want to think about merging their football league with the WAC at this point, because this plan is literally dying on the vine.
  21. It's about damn time Youngstown State put Pete the Penguin on their helmet. I get a kick out of oversized logos on helmets because it makes me think that the person who was making it on a paint program goofed up on the logo size. Troy's helmet is okay... I don't remember them having script on their helmets before, though.
  22. There's a reason why I called Houston the 'demon clad in orange' - The Astros have had Seattle's number for years. Do I want more? Uh, yeah. Any good fan should ask for more... but any true fan also knows that sometime, the good vibes have to end. It may end this weekend, but I'm proud of them.
  23. Better yet - PLUNK HIS ASS! Make him pay for his homers with some chin music.
  24. Not going to lie, that loss hurts. I understand what Servais was trying to do - lefty on lefty makes sense. I don't think he realized that Ray hasn't been good against Houston all season long and he got hammered pretty well by Toronto a few days ago in the Wild Card series. Thankfully, the offense saved the day. Not the case here. If I were Servais, I'm plunking Ray onto the Taxi Squad and calling up Marco Gonzales. Ray has had a bad start and blown a rare save chance.
