  1. You see, crap like that is why the Pac-12 can never have anything nice... like a playoff berth. Thanks a lot, Utah. You done screwed the conference over again.
  2. As things stand, it means a Date with the Dutch on Saturday. Wouldn't it be something for the Americans to beat the Ultimate Bridesmaid?
  3. I'm hoping so as well just to shut up the Iranian fans who complained about the flag in that social media post. Now that Group A is done, the Americans still have to do their part and beat Iran... but after they win (hopefully), their Round of 16 date depends on how England-Wales goes. If Wales wins, the Americans win the group and get Senegal on Sunday. If England wins or the game ends in a draw, then the Americans get the Netherlands on Saturday.
  4. Step 2? No... it should be Step 1. In everything else, head-to-head is always the first tiebreaker unless the teams in question didn't play each other. Since group play is basically round robin, head to head should be the first tiebreaker.
  5. Why is head to head results NOT a tiebreaker? Saudi Arabia defeated Argentina, yet Argentina is ahead of Saudi Arabia because they scored one more goal then the Saudis. Costa Rica defeated Japan, yet Japan is ahead of Costa Rica because they scored one more goal then Costa Rica.
  6. This might be the most awkward as hell World Cup ever, especially when Qatar isn't playing. There may not be a lot of fans in the stands (actual fans, anyway) and it feels artificial as hell.
  7. Wait.. the Sky Carp's mascot is named Poopsie? That might be the greatest name for a mascot ever.
  8. You forgot Kansas City (The Roos) getting stunned by D2 school Lincoln (Missouri).
  9. Yeah... we got a sort of Bishop Sycamore here. I say 'sort of' because there is an actual Toronto Prep, but not a West Toronto Prep. If you look up where this school is on Google Maps, it's a public park. Anyway. On to other things here. It's playoff time out here in the Northwest. So, a quick run down of what's going on here... Washington 1B - Naselle and Winlock advanced to the district round with Winlock getting hammered by Neah Bay last night and Naselle playing Tulalip Heritage this afternoon. Expect that game to get ugly. 2B - The crossover round saw Toledo win via forfeit against Ilwaco, Wahkiakum getting absolutely destroyed by top ranked Napavine and Kalama falling just short against Raymond/South Bend in overtime. 1A - Castle Rock finished in 2nd place in the Trico yet again and lost their crossover round game against Eatonville. This end the season for the Rockets. 2A - Mark Morris and Woodland made the crossover round with Woodland losing last night against W.F. West while Mark Morris plays tonight in Woodland against Black Hills. The recent downpours have made Longview Memorial Stadium an absolute mud puddle that can't be used for football (it didn't help that R.A Long had a District soccer game in the same conditions the night before). It would have been the final game on grass for the stadium as it will have a new artificial turf set for next season. 3A - Kelso is at home today to host Gig Harbor in the play-in round for 3A. A win means a trip to state and, if all holds well, a decent chance to maybe host a playoff game next weekend. Oregon 2A - In their first year at this level, Clatskanie made it to the playoffs as the 16th seed and were promptly sent back home after a 56-14 beating by Oakland (Yes, there is an Oakland, Oregon).
  10. There's not much the Mountain West could do since there's not that many D-I schools in that area. Denver might be an option, but that's a non-football school. There's many D-II schools in that area that the Mountain West could look at, but I highly doubt any of them makes the jump to Division I. On the Big XII side... sure. They could. But, who that could be is anyone's guess.
  11. This helps C-USA get to an even number of teams and they really don't have to do anything special. On the other hand... the A-Sun may want to think about merging their football league with the WAC at this point, because this plan is literally dying on the vine.
  12. It's about damn time Youngstown State put Pete the Penguin on their helmet. I get a kick out of oversized logos on helmets because it makes me think that the person who was making it on a paint program goofed up on the logo size. Troy's helmet is okay... I don't remember them having script on their helmets before, though.
  13. There's a reason why I called Houston the 'demon clad in orange' - The Astros have had Seattle's number for years. Do I want more? Uh, yeah. Any good fan should ask for more... but any true fan also knows that sometime, the good vibes have to end. It may end this weekend, but I'm proud of them.
  14. Better yet - PLUNK HIS ASS! Make him pay for his homers with some chin music.
  15. Not going to lie, that loss hurts. I understand what Servais was trying to do - lefty on lefty makes sense. I don't think he realized that Ray hasn't been good against Houston all season long and he got hammered pretty well by Toronto a few days ago in the Wild Card series. Thankfully, the offense saved the day. Not the case here. If I were Servais, I'm plunking Ray onto the Taxi Squad and calling up Marco Gonzales. Ray has had a bad start and blown a rare save chance.
  16. What. A. Comeback. Thank you, Toronto... your hubris was delicious to feast on. Now comes Houston. I can see the M's taking one game or maybe two... but not winning it here. The Astros are far more rested and prepped for this series.
  17. 12 might be a stretch at this point. The goal for C-USA is survival and adding in Kennesaw State helps insure their survival. Being in the Atlanta area, the school is a big hub for the conference. It makes it easier for everyone to partner up in certain sports, like basketball. In fact, it would work like this: -New Mexico State and UTEP -Sam Houston State and Louisiana Tech -Jacksonville State and Middle Tennessee State -Western Kentucky and Liberty -Kennesaw State and Florida International
  18. I get that the Lions have had issues with the refs in the past, but that argument doesn't exactly hold water after this game - especially when the Lions had less penalties then the Seahawks, who are usually one of the more penalized teams out there.
  19. I don't know how many Detroit fans are on here, but I will say this - this year's Lions are much, much, much better then last year's team that got steamrolled in Seattle. I'm just happy that the Seahawks are playing to their actual potential and there's a chance for Lamar Jackson-type moment from DK.
  20. Yes. It also means that next week, College Gameday will be in Lawrence for a game between two unbeaten teams - 5-0 Kansas hosting 4-0 Texas Christian, coming off that upset/rout of Oklahoma.
  21. I saw the Le Moyne rumor on Reddit myself. Not a bad idea for them - They used to be an associate member of the MAAC in baseball and women's lacrosse. The only question would be who would take them. The MAAC would love to reach 12 teams... but the NEC and America East would like to have a word as well. As far as Indy goes... As @Burmy mentioned, the Board is Trustees is meeting tonight. But, the AD for the school just stepped down. This leads into three possible scenarios that could go down here: -UIndy moves to Division I and joins the Ohio Valley Conference. -UIndy stays in Division II, but joins the Great Midwest. -UIndy basically stays put - both in Division two and the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Let's look at these options one-by-one. Option 1: The OVC does need football bodies, especially considering the alliance with the Big South beginning next season. Seven football playing schools would be nice, but you end up with an odd number for basketball. I think the OVC doesn't mind that much. Option 2: The Great Midwest has basically taken members from other Midwestern based leagues, namely the GLIAC, but they have taken a few members from the GLVC (Namely Ashland, a former member, and Kentucky Wesleyan). Adding UIndy gives them 11 football schools, which is an odd number for that sport - but 14 for everything else (Let's not forget that the G-MAC is adding Thomas More, an NAIA school, next season as well) Option 3: Status quo, nothing changes. We all move on to the next possible D-II school wanting to make the jump.
  22. Who are these imposters and what have they done with the Jaguars?
  23. IMHO, the Big East should look at Loyola of Chicago, St. Louis and Dayton if they want 14. It would be a win-win for both sides. The Big East adds in schools that are focused on basketball, adding in schools that would help out for Creighton and it would alleviate the bloat that the Atlantic 10 is going through right now.
  24. Doesn't the MAC have a rule about jerseys blending in with the turf? Because gray jerseys on that field is going to be a nightmare for any poor sap watching the game there or on TV (It'll be on CBS Sports Network)
