  1. Yes. It also means that next week, College Gameday will be in Lawrence for a game between two unbeaten teams - 5-0 Kansas hosting 4-0 Texas Christian, coming off that upset/rout of Oklahoma.
  2. I saw the Le Moyne rumor on Reddit myself. Not a bad idea for them - They used to be an associate member of the MAAC in baseball and women's lacrosse. The only question would be who would take them. The MAAC would love to reach 12 teams... but the NEC and America East would like to have a word as well. As far as Indy goes... As @Burmy mentioned, the Board is Trustees is meeting tonight. But, the AD for the school just stepped down. This leads into three possible scenarios that could go down here: -UIndy moves to Division I and joins the Ohio Valley Conference. -UIndy stays in Division II, but joins the Great Midwest. -UIndy basically stays put - both in Division two and the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Let's look at these options one-by-one. Option 1: The OVC does need football bodies, especially considering the alliance with the Big South beginning next season. Seven football playing schools would be nice, but you end up with an odd number for basketball. I think the OVC doesn't mind that much. Option 2: The Great Midwest has basically taken members from other Midwestern based leagues, namely the GLIAC, but they have taken a few members from the GLVC (Namely Ashland, a former member, and Kentucky Wesleyan). Adding UIndy gives them 11 football schools, which is an odd number for that sport - but 14 for everything else (Let's not forget that the G-MAC is adding Thomas More, an NAIA school, next season as well) Option 3: Status quo, nothing changes. We all move on to the next possible D-II school wanting to make the jump.
  3. Who are these imposters and what have they done with the Jaguars?
  4. IMHO, the Big East should look at Loyola of Chicago, St. Louis and Dayton if they want 14. It would be a win-win for both sides. The Big East adds in schools that are focused on basketball, adding in schools that would help out for Creighton and it would alleviate the bloat that the Atlantic 10 is going through right now.
  5. Doesn't the MAC have a rule about jerseys blending in with the turf? Because gray jerseys on that field is going to be a nightmare for any poor sap watching the game there or on TV (It'll be on CBS Sports Network)
  6. I was afraid of seeing them have a letdown and boy... whoof. I hate being right.
  7. I'm pretty sure whatever the allegations are cannot be worst then losing to Eastern Michigan on your home field.
  8. Considering the way the Niners played in that monsoon yesterday, they don't exactly inspire the fear of God in me.
  9. Okay, probably not him... but, you gotta think that the special teams coach is probably going to be dead meat after last night's fiasco of a game. Two muffed punts, an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on a kickoff, and two blocked kicks. Yeah, that special teams coach is gone.
  10. I'm sure that Kelly might be dead man walking after that fiasco...
  11. I still HATE the asymmetric helmet design and wished it died off. I saw at least four teams (Austin Peay, Idaho State, Stephen F. Austin and New Mexico State) doing that and it annoys me to no end. Either have logos or numbers, not both!
  12. I know a lot of people aren't into following high school football now, but some people here (like myself) do. So, that's why this thread is being made with football season approaching in many states. As for my neck of the woods, things aren't changing much in Washington or Iowa... but Oregon has gone through a massive restructuring of their football system. -6A, their highest level, will still have 32 schools in the playoffs. But, instead of one big 32 team field, it'll now be two 16 team fields. The main reason is that the lower seeded teams weren't able to compete against some of the bigger boys out there and there hasn't been a lot of parity at this level. So, to try and remedy this problem, the OSAA has created two 16 team brackets: the 6 conference champions and the 10 highest ranked teams will compete for the state championship while the remaining 16 teams will compete for the Columbia Cup. -For the first time since the early 2000's, Rainier and Clatskanie are in different classes. Rainier is still a 3A school and will be in Special District 1 with Banks, Corbett, North Marion (a 4A school), Valley Catholic, Warrenton and Yamhill-Carlton. Four of the schools are also with Rainier in the Coastal Range League for other sports. -Clatskanie is now a 2A school and with that, it means a different style of football in introduced here: nine man football. 2A schools play this variation thanks in large part to the spring season in 2021, where many schools at this level couldn't play eleven man football thanks to COVID-19 and other issues. So, these schools have nine man football. In their district, Special District 1, are Gaston, Knappa, Nestucca, Sheridan (a 3A school), and Vernonia (Another school, Neah-Kah-Nie, is also in this district, but is not playing a full eight game schedule and they're also a 3A school). Similar to Rainier, there's four fellow conference mates in this district. -When you get down to 1A, there's two different styles of football being played here: Eight man and Six man. The first level is eight man football and it's for the bigger (in terms of the class, mind you) schools while the really small schools play six man football, which will have their first ever state championship this season.
  13. Considering that most, if not all, of the fans of the Texas teams fall under the 'have two shots' category, it makes sense to move these games from their home field to one where they can play. The games will be at Blaine High School, which is about 28 miles (or 45 kilometers) from the school.
  14. The Chargers called, they want their helmets back and might be suing the school for the recolor treatment.
  15. North Alabama is doing a refresh on their look after getting the OK for full Division I membership.
  16. The only way THAT part is acceptable is if all of Cleveland's massage therapists are big, sweaty, fat, ugly men.
  17. A little light? Try very light. It feels like a massive slap on the wrist more then anything.
  18. Time for the all-in push to end the nightmare...
  19. What will help for San Jose is a new arena - Tech CU Arena (Technology Credit Union Arena) opens its doors in August. This is basically an expansion of the parent franchise's training facility to include a new home for the Barracuda.
  20. The best part? After next weekend, Seattle doesn't see the Ass-tros for the rest of the season.
  21. From what I've been looking at, West Texas A&M is very happy to be in Division 2.
  22. Again, enough with the Skankee ass kissing (this means you @TrueYankee26). Let's talk about the Mariners and their 14 game winning streak - the longest winning streak heading into the All Star Break ever. And right after the break comes the fun part -13 of the first 20 are against the Trash Cans and the Skankees. After that? Atlanta and San Diego are the toughest teams left and they come to Seattle in mid-September.
  23. Enough of the Skankee ass kissing, let's talk about the Mariners and their 11 game winning streak!
  24. That was my idea... and outside of the whole fiasco that was the Wheels, the attendance numbers aren't that bad - save for their final home game against Southern California, which had 6351 people there (there is a lower number though - the game with Portland was in London, Ontario and that was barely over 5100 people there). Outside of that game? 2 home games with 10,000 people and 2 home games with 14,000 people. That should be within the ballpark of what the current USFL needs to be looking for.
