  1. Cincinnati's logo and custom font is so good that they don't really need design elements in their uniforms to push their look forward, so I like simple. But yeah that looks cheap.
  2. should have done a refresh of the chess piece logo. This isn't very good.
  3. I'll contend 1998 was the best the NFL has looked. There was a strong mix of modern designs and traditional, matte and shiny fabrics so variety, plus IMO the best iterations of the Ravens, Bengals, Jaguars, Saints, Chargers and Seahawks. No dumb alternates anywhere to be seen. Eagles, Broncos, Patriots, 49ers (first year in gold pants after wearing white ones for a while) and Buccaneers were making things interesting without completely taking a dump on the league's aesthetic.
  4. We should consider NC State's copy-paste of the Falcons as their core aesthetic.
  5. That Titans-Jaguars game was described by my father as toothpaste versus ear wax Also, that series of photos on this page is really hard to look at. Unfathomable how that Cleveland-Denver matchup happened, not to mention it's just as unfathomable that Cleveland even has that uniform now without stripes and literally looks like tootsie rolls running around. You would think a league with the resources the NFL has would have some types of layers within its leadership that had to deal with visual integrity of uniforms as part of its greater brand perception. Maybe the NFL does, but just has the wrong minds involved. Either way, we're in by far the worst era for the league from an aesthetic standpoint and I hope the pendulum swings back in the right direction.
  6. Steamroller makes good points but I’m not sure how we went from body-tight jerseys and pads just so that players can now wear undershirts that stick out and essentially act as grab-flags.
  7. If you simplified a ton and just tried to make this more of a play similar to the old Hartford Whalers logo, you would have something. In this iteration there's too many issues with details and scale
  8. Those are high school uniforms. Wordmarks on pants never ever look good. Ever.
  9. These were really good, would have been perfect with white numerals, everything was downhill from there. New ones are good, but kind of boring and the helmet logo is still a mess. ::EDIT:: Just noticed they modeled it with a white helmet that had the tapered stripes on it. Moving to a traditional style but keeping those stripes on the helmet just makes things worse b/c of the disagreement.
  10. They've done it on the men's side too, and it's terrible. Looks like practice jerseys. Even Georgia Tech, whose school colors are officially white and gold, have stayed away from trying this.
  11. Don't mind big chest wordmarks in CFB, in fact it makes it look even more collegiate and classic. Only nitpick is the stripes are too similar to Kansas State. Hoping they go back to rocking the KU on the helmet instead of the big, gaudy iterations of the Jayhawk logo, which are just a mess.
  12. I get enjoyment out of how much the Saints have defecated on their identity. Falcons taking steps in right direction with black-over-white, white-over-black, tossing gradient in the trash, three throwback games. Saints elect to wear leotards home and away, pretend their "gold" pants don't exist, bastardized their only good uniform with helmets that look like a pop warner team would wear, and the white pants with the home jerseys might be the worst of them all. Sad!
  13. Nike can't not touch a uniform without going full gradient lately HOWEVER, I am a big fan of this application. Purple and black are close enough that it's not super gaudy, it's a call back to a previous set while being different. and I like the wordmark play here
  14. I will be a shiny pants proponent until the day I croak. The 49ers uniforms during their 80s and early 90s runs were iconic, but that doesn't make up for the fact the gold was muted and flat, making for a rather dull uniform. These were 10x better *ducks behind desk*
  15. I will always identify those as the "Jets Dance to Anything" jerseys. Jets Dance to Anything
  16. Those UCF uniforms are a microcosm of where we've gone with college football uniforms. The reveal content for social media is more important than how applicable it is as an actual uniform on the field.
  17. Come on Steelers, give us the goods. Just b/c a regular uniform was used to take the shadow photo does not mean it isn't a teaser for something new. And, as someone has pointed out previously, the new template is soooo condusive to bringing back the "batman" jerseys that it's almost a no-brainer, or at least very likely someone in Pittsburgh realized it and made the recommendation. Then again, since the Lions Pepsi troll job, I trust nothing
  18. It's disgraceful what Nike is doing to MLB right now. I know the teams are involved too, but it's not a total surprise that people involved with the team side of things may give thumbs up to some ridiculous concepts. It really is on the professional design team at the manufacturer to have some taste. In the NFL, NBA and now MLB, too much just looks like it's half assed or mailed in
  19. I believe this is because Miami dumped the all-orange and then designated the road throwback uniforms as their Color Rush. Again, the designations in the NFL are all over the place, but I understood that to be the reason. Could be wrong.
  20. People like this know uniform stuff gets a ton of attention and this reeks of clout chasing. He's mentioning that the Patriots might wear two throwbacks, we know that is not even a possibility. Teams also don't pick their pant options ahead of time. This is all a bunch of baloney.
  21. They have. It seems that facemask color isn't quite considered a static part of the uniform. Because, of course it isn't. Because, the NFL has no idea what it's doing with its uniform standards...it just keeps lopping arbitrary rules on top of arbitrary rules while simultaneously not quite enforcing them. Speaking of, though -- I would like to see Pittsburgh go to grey facemasks. With the nickname "Steelers" it just makes sense, plus it would gel with the grey keyline on the logo. At least go with them when they wear their throwback uniform, which isn't any different other than the number font
  22. Chicago wanted to showcase both of their uniforms to the fans who never get to see them in person. Wasn't a big deal b/c St Louis was in off-white.
  23. WKU has a great helmet logo with the towel (sounds funny to type that, but I am serious). Why go with a Maryland knock off when you have something unique to your brand?
