  1. I wish the Rays would build new scripts, including having a "Tampa Bay" one, and work with a color scheme of navy, sky blue and yellow. Use yellow in a lot of the trim. Bring the look to life without overhauling it.
  2. I hope I can articulate this thought correctly ... but, have you guys ever had a dream about something that is related to something you were thinking about/experiencing in real life before going to bed, and so... ...the dream's content is like a really weird, obscured, preposterous adaptation of what the subject IRL was? ... yeah, that is what I think I am experiencing when I see what Nike has done with the NBA. And, it's not just that the designs are bad and sloppy, but even the material and weird seams/paneling just looks incredibly cheap. Sure, a few here or there look complete, but the vast majority of what they are pumping out is comically bad. It makes me sad.
  3. Good to know I am not tripping, I remember seeing all sorts of old highlights where they looked orange and navy. It was around the same time Barney the Dinosaur kept switching between blue and purple too. The 90s were interesting times.
  4. I badly hope that the showcase of throwbacks this season will prompt teams to want to go back to striped socks, maybe within 5 years this fad will be over and we can all laugh about it. But like, when you go on GUD it looks like the graphics are incomplete -- the white-white look is just so ridiculous, if someone posed it as an idea 10 years ago in the Concepts board in here people would have laughed and been like "looks like you posted an incomplete export"
  5. Oof, that's an unnecessary change for AIC. It's rare that you have a small school like theirs where the logo is recognizable, kind of like how most people are familiar with Denver, Ferris State, Michigan Tech, Mount Union, etc. This change is kind of egregious. There's no flaws from the previous version that were seemingly fixed here, it's just a re-orientation for the sake of it.
  6. My guess is they ordered the green jersey and green pants at different times and that detail was missed, as opposed to ordering both together as a uniform.
  7. ^ yeah that is kind of similar to what happened to me. I created a suite of Kennesaw State logos as concepts. Talked to a few of the club sports teams who considered them, but decided against it. But it got to the point where they were showing up on things like off-brand merch, and even on a mural in one of the campus apartments. Because it said "Kennesaw State" on them it was default not my property. Took the L, it was still cool to see my logos around every once in a while lol
  8. ^ Yeah, I know it's the space needle, so it can only be rendered in so many ways, but it surely seems like they somehow stumbled upon your logo and used it as a framework -- the core disc area is almost identical. I'm not an expert on the legal actions to take here, or how intellectual property works, but this is quite a find. I've had my work stolen multiple times before (one time it was a college logo concept so I couldn't claim it as IP, or something like that, it was a decade ago so I can't recall the exact explanation). I can sympathize with the way you might feel seeing this, maybe ping Chris directly and see if he can give it some air play? ::EDIT:: I do see the below explanation on how easy it would have been to render those objects in the exact same way. So maybe this is just a coincidence! Moving on, after a day, I agree with some other comments that there's too much of a disconnection between the three colors. The hues of the rave green and blue are pretty bright and rich, and go together well. The aqua looks like an accident, it just doesn't mesh well as just a keyline, nor does it combine well with the green and blue. That hoodie photo really showcases how awkward the colors are together. A deeper blue and aqua works, which they even showcased in their graphic package, and I am sure there will be opportunities with merch and such to use that colorway. But the more I've sat with this, I feel like there's an awkward lack of definition on what their colors are and what they want to look like.
  9. ok no, these are the worst CFB uniforms of all time. I forgot about these.
  10. Maroon nailed it. 1) Move off the overly-complicated, impossible to embroider crest without doing a full overhaul 2) Use the wordmarks + alternate logos as an opportunity to refresh the brand Overall, what matters here is not just the logo itself, but the fact the merch is going to be better because there's a better suite of options. And if you go look at the merch release they did alongside this, it all looks fantastic.
  11. They kind of buried the lead with the orca -- the orca merch is going to sell first, I bet. The new logo is fine. I never truly had a problem with the previous look, but this gives it that minimalist, avatar-friendly iteration that everyone wants right now. Space needle on a shied to me is boring, but nothing about the logo is bad, and the change wasn't risky. The wordmark with the flowing strikethrough is really nice. Color adjustment is too but I wish the aqua had a bigger role. The orca is the best part.
  12. man, it really is damning that MLS walked back three rebrands in the last few years, and honestly none of the "redos" are that great either. Chicago Fire should never, ever have changed. Montreal's logo is a nice shield forced on top of a roundel for no reason. I appreciated the Crew redo moving away from a roundel, but it's just such an awkward logo
  13. This is the funniest damn part about all of this. I remember a college game last season where a kick returner for Miss St was definitely gone but got his stretchy undershirt grabbed, and after it expanded for like 8 yards between him and the tackler, it slowed him down enough that he got caught from behind.
  14. that UTEP uni might be a contender for the worst of all time.
  15. The funniest part about New Orleans is that they wear good uniforms in the preseason, but apparently only washed out looks are worthy enough for the regular season. They also, if I recall correctly, were the first team that started this white from neck-to-toe thing, so this is all their fault.
  16. We are truly in a lawless land when it comes to the “uniform” below the knee. Atlanta’s David Onyemata is wearing the throwback striped socks instead of the solid black socks today.
  17. I greatly appreciate Auburn's restraint, but at the same time they're in this awkward spot where they're like "hey what can we do to get in on this uniform craze #icy #drip" and the response is:
  18. Oregon State has by far my favorite contemporary uniform right now. It looks finished, it kind of has a old timey feel even though it's definitely not, the color of the away jersey is unique and fitting, and the helmet logo is just as good as it gets.
  19. Saints in all-black tonight? That just makes me even more confident that the Panthers will wear black pants with their white jerseys, because whatever makes sense in terms of uniforms in the NFL these days, IRL the teams will do the opposite of that.
  20. The uni reveal videos are so out of control. Best way to describe the phenomenon is how EVERY SINGLE team in baseball does a May 4th Star Wars promotion, or at least something. It's an obscure idea that some teams originally did for fun, that has now become so standardized that you have failed as a marketing dept if you don't post some dumb Star Wars meme or run a Star Wars promotion that week. Same thing here. It's evidently a requirement for every team to put a heavy lift into filming, graphics, concepts to do their uniform reveals. I'm not saying don't, in fact I appreciate the creativity, let these people do cool things! But it gets really stale really fast. I am so exhausted by waiting through 30-60 seconds of annoying frames just to see a combo, not to mention it's always a player doing the same hilariously lame poses (likely with a ridiculous looking t-shirt sticking out, ruining the look) The PROBLEM with this trend is that now it is almost a necessity, especially for smaller schools, to wear a different uniform week-to-week. Many don't have the resources of an Oregon, so the tweaks are random things like changing the facemasks, altering the helmet decals, etc. This has put us in a place where the majority of CFB teams don't have a set identity. Because there is a NEED for CONTENT every week, there's an unintended consequence of not having a uniform anymore. It makes me sad. In fact, I miss the 2000s when you really didn't know if the team was gonna wear something new until they came out for warmups, and new looks were usually a surprise sprinkled in once or twice a season.
  21. Oregon? You look ... so beautiful. *tear runs down face*
