  1. Don't like the Archers' CS uniforms now that I've seen them in action. Inferior number font to the regular season unis. Their shade of orange isn't pleasant to look at for extended periods of time. The navy blue helmets have proven to not only be the best helmets in the Archers' repertoire, but the best looking helmets the in the entire league to date. Chrome's CS unis were okay. Maybe they should have gone with horizontal stripes since vertical stripes are the Redwoods' signature look. Looks like they brought back the number font from 2019.
  2. First time watching sixes lacrosse (or at least PLL's variation of it). Not bad at all, it's been very enjoyable so far. I'd prefer for the quarters to be a little longer, but like the basketball-ish back and forth pace. With that said I do not think the PLL regular season or NCAA should change to this format. If the Olympics are only willing to accept sixes lacrosse I wouldn't be upset over it.
  3. Sacramento again? Need input from our Sacramento insider on this one. He's made it seem like MLS to Sacramento was completely a lost cause.
  4. So is the PLL going to have two different sets of uniforms for the regular season and team that play in the championship series? That's odd & seems like an unnecessary expense. With that said I'm watching the first game right now. Adding drop shadows to Atlas' numbers is an improvement. If you're team is going to have both light colored jerseys and numbers a dark drop shadow is necessary IMO. Or atleast a thick regular outline lol. Not a fan of the rest of the changes in the Atlas CS uniform. Would love to see those drop shadows become part of their regular season uniforms. Good to see the Whipsnakes in white uniforms again! Especially since they finally smartened up and put red numbers on the jerseys. Cool stripe pattern on the sleeve cuffs and the shorts. Would like to see a red version of these in the future.
  5. My only issue with Adidas being the supplier for MLS has been their requirements for thirds. If they got rid of that or at least set a more reasonable bar for MLS clubs to get thirds, I'd have no issue with them. Although the big shoulder striped jerseys a few years ago were pretty bad.
  6. first game of the PLL Championship Series starts in about 15 minutes on ESPN2. I've got nothing better to do at 5:30pm on a Wednesday.
  7. Oh no. I meant to say, why was Northwestern playing games at Wrigley when their own stadium was (assuming) available?
  8. Wait.... I thought Notre Dame were the ones that played games at Wrigley? Why would Northwestern even need to play home games outside of their own stadium?
  9. Wow. I remember a time the NBA was praised on this forum because they didn't have manufacturer marks on the uniforms until the recent deal with Nike went into place.
  10. I'm not sure where you're from, but plaid has been fashionable in my entire 37 year old life. And not just in the fall and winter.
  11. Red Bull does not allow american football to be played at their stadium, period. Lacrosse and rugby is okay with them, but not our brand of football. Not sure about Subaru Park.
  12. Last time around the XFL field paint was highly visible during MLS games. Guess a compromise was made because the field lines on the grass tonight appeared to be pretty light. Trust me the DC United diehards hate the fact that Audi Field gets used for football during the MLS season.
  13. So basically.... Bears move to new suburban stadium Fire goes back their old suburban stadium for a few years while Soldier Field gets renovated (as far as I know the NWSL team plays their now) Fire moves back to newly renovated Soldier Field fulltime Does Fire's ownership have deep enough pocket to bankroll a renovation just in case the city of Chicago pulls some shenanigans and decides not to?
  14. The Rock got to DC from San Antonio pretty quick. Keep in mind I have not looked up how long a flight from one city to the other takes.
  15. With the Bears in the suburbs I could picture Notre Dame wanting to use Soldier Field instead of Wrigley for their Chicago Shamrock Series games. Might be reason enough for the city to hold off on tearing down the upper decks. Also. You would think that USSF wouldn't want Soldier Field's capacity reduced too much. Those international matches in Chicago usually draw well. I don't think they'd be willing to accept a smaller Soldier Field come Gold Cup time.
  16. The New York Guardians logo was a gargoyle. It appears now it's some kind of big cat. I haven't paid much attention to the branding of XFL 3.0 until this weekend. Why does Seattle's dragon logo look worse now? It looks like a kid in 4th grade drew the new logo, and not a kid with artistic talent.
  17. bump Looks like the archers have added orange helmets to their rotation. The other 3 look the same from the 2022 season. Although the Whipsnakes may have added a stripe to the top of their helmets.
  18. Why the heck did Adidas create that armpit panel? Were teams required to make the armpits contrast from the rest of the shirt? Really seems like the armpit here coulda/shoulda been white instead of red.
  19. Am I seeing things or does St. Louis have a light silver stripe on their darker silver helmets?
  20. Small world. My school played Westlake in our season opener my 9th and 10th grade years (1999 and 2000). Westlake's varsity football team was definitely a hybrid of the Miami Dolphins and Wisconsin Badgers from what I remember.
  21. I went to Crossland High School in Temple Hills, MD. Home of the Cavaliers. My introduction to CHS came when my older brother started going there. The football team at that time had a generic cavalier/musketeer/swashbuckler/fancy pirate decal on the helmets. My junior and senior years at CHS we had a University of Virginia crossed swords logo on our helmets with an old English C in place of the V. The year after I graduated the football team got new uniforms and began wearing a Chicago Cubs style C on the helmets. About 3 years after that the football team went to another variation of the UVA logo that I can only describe as imagining if a C was in the same font as the V in the UVA logo. It was actually my avatar on this board for several years. There were old team photos from the 70s and 80s in the coaches offices wear the team had the Buccaneer Bruce logo on the sleeves. In the early 2010s the boys basketball had Buccaneer Bruce on their shorts. Prior to that the basketball teams wore the Cleveland Cavaliers sword logo (the one the resemble a cent sign) on a lot of stuff. About 5 years ago the current principal wanted the school to have a unified identity, so an all purpose (academic and athletic) logo was created for the school. And yes, the football team has worn this on their helmets since 2018. Small print and hashtag included
  22. While we're on the topic of stadiums. Is Chicago Fire going to inherit Soldier Field by default once the Bears move to the suburbs? Could Soldier Field end up getting renovated to be more practical for MLS use?
