  1. No theory here, but it is odd they chose to unveil the new name and logos before the Super Bowl. Every other team that rebranded or unveiled new uniforms waited until after the SB to do so. Why be the oddball?
  2. This organization (under Snyder) has never shown the competence to pull off an elaborate misdirection. Yet it has shown the incompetence to allow a major secret to be leaked on camera many times. Soooo, yeah. At this point whatever happens, happens
  3. That's what I meant. T-shirt, hats, jackets, etc. Figured the uniforms would be revealed closer to the NFL Draft.
  4. Am I the only one that sees a problem with Redhawks even being an option? Are we just completely ignoring the existence of the Seattle Seahawks? This isn't NCAA with hundreds of members, where having multiple teams called the name (prefix)hawks is acceptable. This is a 32 team league. There should be absolutely no repeat names! Full name, prefix, suffix, whatever. There should not be a second team in the NFL with "hawks" in their name, PERIOD. How did that even make it this far into the process? Redhawks should have been nixed 2 seconds after that name was suggested. Being a fan of this team my whole life I know the Snyder administration makes bad decisions, but gawdam this one was should have never even been entertained. Yet here we are!
  5. So how soon should we expect some employee of Dick's Sporting Goods to upload a picture of new Washington gear inside of a box in the backroom?
  6. After having a day to think about it, my fingers are officially crossed for Red Hogs. All of the finalist names are bad for different reasons. Pig/hog imagery has been the only part of the team's identity that's not Native American related. I'd go as far as saying pigs/hogs to Washington fans are equal to the dog imagery of the Browns. It's not the team's name, but still part of the team's identity. Plus, I'm intrigued by logo possibilities. Just a few that have been floating around online for a while now.
  7. This set needs gold pants if the jersey numbers are going to be gold
  8. Long time Football Team fan chiming in. So far, the only thing I've seen that I've liked is the burgundy jersey with gold numbers. Although I'd personally prefer the sleeve stripe colors to be gold/burgundy/gold instead of gold/white/gold. I'm fine with the numbers being outlined in white. The white jersey with black accents instead of gold makes me nervous. Snyder did consider changing the team's uniforms in the early 2000's featuring heavy amounts of black. I don't know what to believe as far as the remaining names go. RedWolves would have been cool, but it's the only name they've flat out confirmed is no longer an option. At this point my preferences would be RedHogs if it's still in the running.
  9. Have my fingers crossed for Miami's primary kits being pink/pink/black, but have a feeling they'll end up going with all pink.
  10. Exactly how big is NYCFC's fanbase? On one hand I feel the club could justifiably have a stadium built within the same capacity range as the latest ones to come into the league. On the other hand, I think a soccer specific stadium in New York City proper could realistically be made to hold 40K+ if certain events were contractually obligated to take place there every year (US national teams playing x number of friendlies, elimination round Gold Cup matches, friendlies featuring big overseas clubs, world cup qualifiers, etc) The question is whether or not anyone could justify NYCFC being the primary tenant of a 40K+ stadium? I'm not sure. As of right now only Seattle & Atlanta has shown they could realistically pull those numbers on a regular basis. Although an argument could be made that Portland could too if their stadium was bigger. Not to mention Met Life Stadium probably has contracts for all those events I mentioned for the foreseeable future. We'll see what happens.
  11. I hope D.C. United does something similar to the 2016-17 kits. Doesn't need to have tonal stripes on the front, but the red Adidas stripes made this the best set they've ever had IMO. SN: I like Charlotte's set, but was hoping they'd wear black socks with blue stripes.
  12. Going to be honest after the AAF and 2nd XFL came in went in the last 2 years, I just can't get excited about any part of this. Between The Spring League, the new USFL and the 3rd XFL the whole spring pro football niche is becoming crowded. but FWIW I like that Michigan Panther logo the best of the bunch.
  13. I doubt all of those schools would have the funds needed to make the jump to FCS
  14. Does FBS allow Independent programs to have scheduling agreements with conferences? In Division 2 football UNC Pembroke had such an agreement with the South Atlantic Conference. Don't know/understand the exact definition of it, but pretty much UNC Pembroke would play most of it's schedule against SAC teams, while not being a member of the conference. Hmmm... Now that I've typed that out, it seems very similar (if not the exact same thing) to what Notre Dame does with the ACC. So would any of the remaining mid major conferences potentially do something like that with Liberty, New Mexico State or UConn? If for no other reason than to fill out some of the members out of conference schedule.
  15. I'd put if like this. If you ranked FCS programs into 4 tiers, I'd say the top tier D2 teams can beat the 3rd and 4th tier FCS teams most times. D2's top tier can be competitive with, and occasionally beat 2nd tier FCS. Top tier D2 usually can't compete with and rarely ever beats top tier FCS schools. I feel there's a bigger overlap in the talent level between FCS and D2 than between FBS and FCS. There's many FCS players that should be at a D2 school, and many D2 players that could be at an FCS school.
  16. As a Washington fan, I'm a little worried that all those logos appear to be using a darker shade of burgundy than the team has worn in my lifetime (with the exception of those anniversary uniforms in 2002, which I hated) . Needless to say, I want the colors to remain as is
  17. The Giants just need to go ahead and start from scratch with a new set of uniforms. Now they have 3 pairs of white pants?
  18. I think some may be underestimating the cultural/political differences between the PAC-12 and Big 12 member schools (and their donors). The potential of money being made doesn't trump everything. I heard rumors of there being some resistance within the conference in inviting Utah to join the (then) PAC-10 back in 2010/11.
  19. Personally I like the idea of a merger between the remaining Big 12 schools and the AAC.
  20. This is a big reason to why I began following the lower divisions of college football in the last decade. Don't get me wrong, I still watch FBS ball. After all that's where all the elite players are. Now following the FCS, D2 and D3 season has filled a void (for me anyways) that FBS has lost due to the conference realignments.
  21. Have a feeling this won't be accepted by many on this board lol
  22. Texas A&M is openly complaining about the potential of the Longhorns coming into the SEC. What if A&M actually bites the financial bullet and leaves the conference if the Horns come in? What would the SEC do in that case?
