  1. I sure hope this is the case. It was always dumb that they had separate home and road "alts" that were essentially just their primary sets with some added turquoise trim. They should add turquoise to the rest of their uniforms and call it a day, though I'd prefer they just go back to purple, turquoise and copper.
  2. I know we’re probably not going to get a Marlins redesign anytime soon, but this new Negro League pullover from Ebbets Field is cooler than anything the Marlins have ever worn: https://www.ebbets.com/products/miami-giants-vintage-inspired-nl-replica-v-neck-mesh-jersey?ref=isp_rel_prd&isp_ref_pos=1
  3. Yeah, I guess that counts. The matching raglan sleeves definitely help make it work, though.
  4. Has a team ever worn a colored jersey with light blue pants? I think it looks fine in concept form but I'm not sure it would look good on the field.
  5. I’m really sorry to hear this. This forum should be an enjoyable place where we all gather to discuss our shared passion for sports uniforms and designing. The last thing I’d want to hear is that you are being coerced into making these concepts. Anyway, I hope you can get back to designing, and more importantly, enjoying designing, soon, but I know family and your wife’s health comes above all. Wishing you the best.
  6. The 4+1 is a new rule being imposed by Nike. Teams are now allowed a maximum of four jerseys, not counting their City Connects. Teams impacted by this new rule get to choose which jersey(s) to drop, so a team could theoretically decide to ditch its home whites, though I have a hard time imagining any team choosing to do so.
  7. It already leaked a while back that the Rays would be dropping their gray roads starting this coming season. Not sure why it wasn’t met with as much consternation as the Mariners news, though.
  8. I too feel the Mariners should stick to their navy and Northwest green look. I used to not love it, my argument being that the Northwest green looks too muted next to navy (and I still feel that way judging solely by the way the color looks online) but my God, does it come to life under the proper lighting! One thing I can pretty much guarantee for when the M's do eventually update their look is the silver will be gone. It doesn't really accomplish anything other than to muddy up their look and the general aesthetic throughout MLB the last few years seems to have (thankfully) back swung in the direction of simplification and neo-retro type designs. I do think they should modernize their scripts and logos but yeah, keep the Northwest green.
  9. "Am I a joke to you?" - Chicago White Sox
  10. One tweak I'd make to those throwbacks: front numbers. Maybe the only thing I've always liked about the Cubs' current road set is the contrasting wordmark and TV numbers. Also, the red billed cap needs to make a comeback: And here's a trim-less version as you suggested: It's a bit surprising the Cubs' current road set and alt have gone unchanged for as long as they have. I wonder if the team finally winning it all in 2016 postponed any plans for a uniform overhaul they may have had. I remember reading stories pre-2016 about the Cubs holding focus groups to evaluate new uniforms and logos.
  11. Yeah, the more I look at it, the more I tend to agree. It also helps that the white dots kind of look like bubbles floating in beer. Here you go! Next up are the Diamondbacks and Chase Field! Notes: - This one is sort of a combination of eras type design, pairing the D-Backs' original purple and copper (minus teal) with their modern Sedona red. Like the team's City Connect unis, the sand-colored base (with subtle pinstripes, a la the Twins' new road set) is meant to evoke the park's desert setting. - I was loathe to use the name "Chase" on the uniform, but to my knowledge there aren't any decent nicknames for Chase Field that would look good on a jersey. I'm open to suggestions, however. - The banner across the front of the jersey is taken from the ballpark's official logo. - Red diamonds surround the numbers, inspired by the signage found throughout Chase, which would finally make the players actual "diamond backs." - The sleeve patch is a rendering of the D-Backs pool. - As a subtle detail, the cap logo includes a reference to the three bats sculpture welcoming fans to Chase Field. C&C appreciated! Only one team left before I wrap up the series.
  12. Seems like the Spring Training caps manage to get worse and worse every season.
  13. Hey guys, I know it's been a while since I've posted a new team. There are two main reasons for this: One, I've gotten sidetracked by another fun series I recently started, and two, to be quite honest, I kind of ran out of steam trying to come up with ideas for the final few teams. However, I'm determined to finish this project, which I plan to do within the next week or so. Thanks! Finally responding to this nearly four months later, because I'm back this evening with the Brewers and Milwaukee County Stadium! Notes: - The overall design and sleeve/pants/waistband pattern are based on the lederhosen worn by Bernie Brewer and other employees at the ballpark - I decided to add a bit of Brewers powder blue to a primarily brown and gold color scheme to hopefully quell the obvious Padres comparisons, and because I think it's an interesting look. - The arched "Milwaukee" wordmark is inspired by the illuminated letters on the giant beer barrel in centerfield - Gold racing stripes on the sleeves are meant to evoke the slide leading from Bernie's chalet into the beer stein below - Player numbers on the back are set against a beer barrel design - The cap features a block "M" within a chalet @NicDB I couldn't think of a good way to work in something related to the scoreboard but if you have any ideas, I'd be more than happy to revisit this design. C&C appreciated! I plan to be back with another team sooner rather than later.
  14. Magicians - Very nice! Perhaps make the stars on the magician's cap in the primary logo white. Other than that, everything looks great. Chicago Angels - No complaints here. Maybe replace the White Sox script "Chicago" with this Cubs wordmark since it's pretty much identical to the "Angels" script. Vegas Angels - Flipping the "A" upside-down to create a "V" is clever! I'd be curious to see this set in Golden Knights colors. Basically, replace navy with black/steel gray and yellow with Vegas gold. Also, I'm not sure about the "VA." When I see "VA," I think "Virginia." The cap logo could probably just be the haloed "V" from the road wordmark. P.S. I'm so incredibly sorry to hear about your wife's cancer diagnosis. I'll be praying for both of you. I hope designing can provide some small distraction while you also tend to her needs.
  15. I'm liking that horseshoe wrapped around Texas logo for the Rangers. I'm curious what the inspiration behind the black and red color scheme is. I'm also wondering if the Braves set will actually use both royal AND navy blue with red, or if one of the blues is just for the sock design. I'm hoping it's the former. Notice there's a hint of the feather on the sock so I imagine Atlanta's look will be very '70s Hank Aaron-era influenced. And I know it's way too early to tell, but I'm really liking what I'm seeing for Seattle so far. Like the Angels' CC set, it looks to have the building blocks of a solid identity refresh for the Mariners; basically a streamlining of their current scripts and logos. I'm not necessarily advocating for the M's to drop the Northwest green and navy, but I always liked them in blue and gold.
  16. A few of them, yeah. Royals, Blue Jays and Brewers come to mind. But that's probably it. Case in point, the Rangers' powder blue alts suck.
  17. Apparent leak of the Braves and Mariners City Connect designs: EXCLUSIVE: Leaks Appear to Show New MLB City Connect Designs (uni-watch.com)
  18. The way I read this was that teams who have gone crazy with alternates (such as Arizona) will have to pare down to four options, not that teams who don't have any alternates (Yankees, Tigers, etc.) will be forced to adopt new ones.
  19. "Skyliners" is an excellent alternate identity for the Mets. The "Skyliners" script is really great. A few suggestions for some previous teams: Bears - Make the middle stripe on the sleeves and pants white Adventurers - Can you make the inner section of the scripts and numbers red? Looking forward to the Angels roadtrip!
  20. Thanks! I tried the Nats with the 2005 wordmark's "W" as you suggested: It doesn't look right to me because the "W" is so narrow, but it was worth trying out. Finishing up today with the AL Central: GUARDIANS: My Guardians design infuses red into these Cleveland Naps sweaters from 1910. WHITE SOX: The South Siders are based on this interesting red and navy look from 1914. I recreated the jersey design by combining their 1976 scripts with the "SOX" from their Field of Dreams throwbacks. TIGERS: I took a little more liberty than usual with this 1919-inspired design, going primarily navy in place of gray and adding a touch of orange. C&C appreciated, and thanks for following! I might take @vtgco's suggestion of coming up with Angels and Padres PCL-inspired designs when I find some time.
  21. Nice work on the last couple teams. Although I was a fan of Penguins concept, the Loons probably feel a little more "Minnesota" to me. Just curious, for the various locations planned, how did you decide which MLB teams would get which relocations, since (to my knowledge) none of the locations listed ever had any chance of actually happening?
  22. I've long felt the Angels could pull off a red and gold look:
  23. I would ditch the outlines around the Toronto scripts & numbers. It makes them hard to read. Otherwise, looks good!
