I’m not too keen on massive contracts either. Especially in MLB. There is an insane pay rate gap between the big league and minor league. Kyler Murray was 100% correct when he demanded a couple million from the Oakland A’s. Teams shelling out all these quarter billion contracts yet can’t allot money to their minor league systems for proper housing and food for low level players. Massive contracts in the NBA seem pointless when players opt out after one year. Or you know, get paid millions to sit at home for an entire season and do nothing (John Wall in Houston).

Back in 2020, Washington’s official game day pregame show used a graphic that featured a blank burgundy helmet, pre-2020 stripes, and a white facemask. I’ve looked everywhere and still can’t find the graphic. It really didn’t look all that bad.

While on the subject of helmets, I’ve never really cared much for the Bears helmet. I wish they’d roll with the throwback helmet full time

Swapping facemasks is far better and more reasonable than swapping the whole helmet

They could put a cap on the contracts, but nothing would stop teams from Bobby Bonilla-ing payments over 20 years

IIRC, Orioles GM Mike Elias said they’d use this off-season to spend big money on FAs. What have they done? Signed innings-eater Kyle Gibson for 1 yr-10M and a couple fringe players and have let multiple high level stars slip through their hands.
