And playing for country? A lot of these WBC teams are comprised of players who have probably never stepped foot in the country they're playing for. Please.
Sorry, but FIFA rules for national eligibility aren't that different than the WBC.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FIFA_eligibility_rules
QuoteThe relevant current FIFA statute, Article 7: Acquisition of a new nationality, states:[18]
Any player who refers to art. 5 par. 1[note 1] to assume a new nationality and who has not played international football [in a match (either in full or in part) in an official competition of any category or any type of football] shall be eligible to play for the new representative team only if he fulfils one of the following conditions:
a) He was born on the territory of the relevant association;
b) His biological mother or biological father was born on the territory of the relevant association;
c) His grandmother or grandfather was born on the territory of the relevant association;
d) He has lived continuously for at least five years after reaching the age of 18 on the territory of the relevant association.— FIFA.comWBC Eligibility

Each player on a Federation Team’s approved Provisional Roster must be eligible to participate for that Federation Team. A player will be so eligible only if:
• The player previously appeared on a Federation Team’s final roster at the start of either a World Baseball Classic Qualifier or Tournament round; or
• The player is a citizen of the Federation Team’s country or territory, as evidenced by a valid passport the player holds as of three months prior to the start of the Tournament; or
• The player is currently a permanent legal resident of the Federation Team’s country or territory, as evidenced by documentation satisfactory to WBCI and the World Baseball Softball Confederation (“WBSC”), or
• The player was born in the Federation Team’s country or territory, as evidenced by a birth certificate or its equivalent; or
• The player has at least one parent who is, or if deceased was, a citizen of the Federation Team’s country or territory, as evidenced by a passport or other documentation satisfactory to WBCI and the WBSC; or
• The player has at least one parent who was born in the Federation Team’s country or territory, as evidenced by a birth certificate or its equivalent; or
• The player presents documentary evidence satisfactory to WBCI that he would be granted citizenship or a passport in due course under the laws of the Federation Team’s country or territory (excluding any requirement of the Federation Team’s country that the player would need to renounce his current citizenship), if he were to apply for such citizenship or passport.- 1

Again. Owners who don't want their star players injured in a meaningless exhibition will have final say.
So the FIFA World Cup is meaningless? Don’t tell players that playing for country vs. club is that different.

If you saw it live or replays, you'd see that Diaz was seemingly celebrating responsibly, so I presume he knew to keep it calm. Watching it live, nothing looked excessive and then all of a sudden Diaz was sitting down on the turf.
It was a freak injury that could have happened in the dugout in Miami or on the field during spring training in Port St. Lucie. Anyone who says or thinks this should stop the WBC is being a little overdramatic. Stop grasping for straws because YOU don't like the tournament.

Woah, so the replicas have the ad? That's insane.
Probably just the replicas sold at the stadium and team controlled shops. Just like the NHL and NBA I believe.

I saw some of this with Bucs fans when Brady signed. Seems really silly. I HATED Brady to the point where I stopped watching football for a stretch because of him. But when he came to my sorry ass team? I gritted my teeth, watched him lead them to a Super Bowl win, and gained a new found appreciation for him. Granted, the attitudes are different (and I get Rodgers comes with more baggage. Sort of), but this is still an all time great. Why check out now? You’re really gonna suffer through that much dysfunctional Jets football and miss out on the potential reward? Like I said, silly.+1. Agreed with this. Brady on the Pats was frustrating to watch because it felt like he couldn't lose. Then he comes to Tampa Bay and I saw a different side of him. Those Tommy and Gronky skits they shot on the practice field were hilarious.

So the Rams backup QBs will probably by John Wolford and Bryce Perkins, both of whom suck.
If you're Mayfield, why would you go to the Rams and be the backup instead of Tampa where you're probably the starter.

Miami has more to do, though. It’s also a weird shape. Most big cities are round. Miami is a straight line.
Much like the Rays in St Petersburg, and to an effect Tampa. Much of the surrounding area is water

I really wish Venezuela still rocked maroon as it's primary color. Colombia could use a different font on the front and back (and yellow jerseys). I'm not one to tell someone how to celebrate their nation but if you have a unique color in your catalog, i expect you to blast it!
Colombia's 2017 home jerseys were good in this regard.

I don't mind the jerseys, but baseball really needs to simplify the cap logo.

If anyone wants some details about what caused failure to the Atlanta Thrashers, this article is a good start. Starts around halfway during the 2003-2007 section.

It's really amazing to think that the Rays entered a long-term lease on that warehouse in 1998. Three years later, MLB was talking contraction for teams that could not get modern ballparks. The Suncoast Dome was probably a year or two away from going down as a (even more) colossal waste of money.
Blame the original owner Vince Naimoli. He was even more a cheapskate than Stu Sternberg and was all for the $$$ and nothing else. Sternberg is cheap, but at least he has guys in the FO who can run a baseball team on the cheap and be successful on field.

And considering it was very popular in the 70s and 80s and stadiums like the Vet lasted up to 2003.. oh boy.
This is sobering, scary stuff.
The Vet also changed to FieldTurf in the later years, so the Astroturf claims might be from the earlier years.

I actually don't mind that each country is using different manufacturers for the uniforms. It's less templated.
Unfortunately a side effect are things like the Canada unis.

To be fair, both the Panthers did their big rebrand and the Penguins went back to their dynasty era set in 2016-17 right before the switch to Adidas. And the Ducks themselves did their rebrand in 2006-07 right before Reebok took over.
I also think the Buffaslug rebrand happened in the 06-07 season.

The Nike NFL takeover began with the 2012 season, so 2023 will be the 12th season.

Will FOX Corp. get back the RSNs they sell out?
Doubtful. From what I've understood, the RSNs were acquired by Disney when Disney acquired that portion 20th Century Fox. Because Disney already had ESPN, it was viewed that Disney had to spin off the RSN's to avoid a monopoly.

As a mod, I've decided to rename the thread to encompass the Stadium Saga in Oakland and Tampa Bay.

Unrelated question: would a baseball stadium next to Raymond James fare better?
Hard to say, since the Yankees spring complex in that area. It might take a little more negotiating to get in that area.

Interesting. I watch most of the Lightning games on Bally Sports Sun and I haven't seen a puck tracker. Occasionally they'll add the player labels, but its very infrequent. Maybe every Bally network can adapt and incorporate these features to their discretion?
