If the league is mixing in a little bit of newness to the Winter Classic with locales like Seattle and Dallas, it might be coming that Columbus could be the host against an opponent like Detroit to play up the Ohio State-Michigan rivalry? Denver could be a possibility as well.

So essentially, let Week 18 play out and see if continuing the BUF-CIN game is even necessary. Probably the most ideal outcome under these unprecedented circumstances.

I was browsing the NHL Uniform Database as you wont to do and noticed it appears the Lightning retired that black alternate.
I don't pay attention to the Lightning that much, so is that the case?
It's quite possible as it hasn't been worn yet this season.

With Beasley coming out of retirement for the Bills, and the Cowboys signing TY Hilton, all this tells me is that OBJ must seriously be cooked.
Maybe not cooked, but clearly not ready in time for teams to consider paying him for what could be maybe the playoffs only.

Florio has been going on about how he thinks the Vikings will unveil a surprise white helmet for their whiteout game, but this seems exceptionally unlikely to me. The NFL put out an announcement before the season detailing all the new alternate helmets, and teams need to practice in them to break them in. It would be basically impossible to keep them under wraps.
True, but if theyre up to something we'll see something in practice in a little more than a week.

I know I'm a week late to the conversation, but the Bengals really need to plan their orange alternates a little better. The orange needs to contrast better against the opponent. If the opponent is red heavy (Chiefs) or orange heavy (Browns) don't do it.

What's the deal with the little bull icon above the player names on all jerseys?
Its the Project Rock logo from Under Armour.

Seems like Dallas (Arlington) and Houston should've swapped colors.
Thats been the thought since the 2020 XFL started, but good luck getting the Roughnecks in Oilers colors past the NFL.

SC also had a better conference record.

OSU and Bama about to leapfrog into the CFP because they didn't lose a conference title game.
College football is a hoot.
Ohio St. will probably make the Top 4, but a 2 loss Bama should not hop TCU.

Germany has more goals than Japan so yeah Germany would advance
Japan won the group with Spain as runner up. Spain wins tiebreaker over Germany with a goal differential of +6 for Spain and +1 for Germany.

Exactly! Rain is wet, wind is windy, deal with it. But don't make fans have to drive if the snow is taller than Kareem Abdul Jabbar.
I did see this in the official CFP release. I guess in case of schools with smaller stadiums (the mid majors) who are close to larger venues (ie. NFL stadiums) you could see other venues.
QuoteThe first round of the playoff in 2024 will take place the week ending Saturday, December 21, at either the home field of the higher-seeded team or at another site designated by the higher-seeded institution. (No. 12 at No. 5, No. 11 at No. 6, No. 10 at No. 7, and No. 9 at No. 8.) The specific game dates, likely late in that week, will be announced later.

I want to see campus sites for those first round games as long as there isn't a significant event, like the Buffalo/Cleveland game 2 weeks ago. Watching Ohio State play Florida State at Doak Campbell or the Shoe would be much better than playing a first round game in Minnesota because there's too much wind expected.
I'm only saying that the domes should be used in case of the Buffalo snow situation, since now that could come into effect in the north.
Wind should not be a factor.

Looks like we'll be getting the expanded 12-team CFP in the 2024 season.
Top 4 conference champs get a first round bye. Team 5-12 play at campus sites in the first round. The New Years 6 would rotate the quarterfinals and semifinals and the Championship would still remain a neutral site.
Two things that come to mind for me to monitor:
- How will this effect how conference championship games are handled. Will we see divisions dissolved and take a top 2 structure (like the current Big 12)? Will conference championship games be eliminated?
- I read this a few months ago when the CFP expansion was announced, but could we see some domes and neutral site games holding first round games? Of course, campus sites would be preferred but maybe an emergency dome site (Indy, Detroit, Minnesota) could be held in case of major weather concerns.

Very interesting news coming out in regards to the future CFP expansion.
As some of the comments on Twitter have said, I agree that any bowl game that tries to dictate the terms to the CFP expansion will probably put itself on the outside looking in. If the Rose Bowl wont agree, then just add a replacement bowl at Sofi to the semifinal rotation. If the Rose Bowl wants relevant teams, its best to remain in the circle of trust. Could you imagine a Rose Bowl with Mountain West v. a midtier P5 or something like that?

Article came out from the Detroit News the other day about USFL North division hubs.
Looks like the league is evaluating venues in the Detroit area now, and is prioritizing stadiums that have turf surface to withstand hosting multiple teams, as well as have sufficient locker room/training facilities and TV broadcasting infrastructure. They've apparently reached out to Eastern Michigan University about using Rynearson Stadium .
Oooh fun, possible gray turf

I just have a hunch that the Lions might sneak out their throwbacks against the Bills this week. We haven't seen them yet.
I thought it was odd for them to wait until the final home game in 2021 to wear them, but they really work for Thanksgiving.

Yeah, its not like they could player here, yet even get into town. I have a coworker there and she said there are travel curfews so no ones moving in or out.

Source of this? If it's real, I'm disappointed. They REALLY need outlines and neck Piping. Also, no Gray uniform is a BIG NO.
Get used to it, I think the trend is shifting slightly. The Rays beat writer for the Tampa Bay Times confirmed the Rays were dropping the gray jersey in 2023. No word on if the navy or columbia blue jerseys will get a redesign but the color will stay.

Also, the potential of hosting a playoff game in Columbus increases in a few years, so maybe that "excuse" of winterizing will be lifted.
