So you're telling me Seattle had a couple serviceable players between the Largent and Holmgren eras...

The Seahawks might've been the worst team in the 90s decade. Rock, paper, scissors between them, the Cards and Bengals.

Off the top of my head plus a small amount of googling: Seahawks, Bengals, Cardinals, Browns, Panthers, and Rams had one playoff season each during the ‘90s. Bears, Falcons, Saints, Giants and Raiders had three each. Jets and Buccaneers each had two.

Rams won the Super Bowl in their only playoff appearance of the decade. Bengals, Browns, Cardinals, Panthers each went 1-1 in their lone playoff appearances. Jets went 1-2. Saints were 0-3. Seahawks were 0-1. Falcons, Raiders, Giants and Bears had multiple playoff wins during the decade, including a Super Bowl win for the Giants.

It would appear that the Seahawks, despite not having anywhere near the worst overall record of the decade, were the most futile team in one measure: they were the only franchise to have exactly ONE playoff appearance and exactly ZERO playoff wins that decade. The Saints may have been more frustrating, with their 0-3 playoff record, but Seattle seemed to do just enough to not have the #1 pick, but not enough to be relevant in the league.

Why are they replacing the current light blue jersey entirely if they aren’t even wearing these the full three times? They’ve been wearing the light blue jerseys three games every year since 2019. That part is disappointing. Light blue over navy was their best look with the current mess of a uniform set.

I’d actually say navy jerseys and socks with light blue pants work better for their current set. Of course, all of it pales in comparison to this.

I guess I'm interested in uniforms from a visual standpoint, and don't really care about the team's record when wearing it. I can see why the normie fans would get bent out of shape by a team wearing a uniform they played terrible in, but that's not my problem...  I'm just here for the fabric.  This "but that team was terrible" attitude is what's keeping us from seeing a Steelers batwing uniform.

…and also, the Seahawks ‘90s look is identical to their 1983-89 look, which saw them make multiple playoff appearances, including a run to the conference title game in 1983. So, the ‘90s is more recent, and the city of Seattle had a more pronounced effect on popular culture in that decade, but these were also worn in the ‘80s when the team was actually good for the first time. So it’s kind of a win-win, I would imagine, for the Seahawks. Even if we are leaving out that the colors really pop with the way they’re arranged in that uniform.

I don't hate the idea of the 2000s era Seahawks blue returning in some fashion. If Nike could actually make it look right (which I doubt), that shade of blue with the action green on the throwback template may look nice.

In fact, I may have to mock that up and post something over in concepts later.

    Please do!

Imma need everyone to just quit it with the _____skins thing at this point. (And seriously, "Pigskins"? Ain't no grown man football team finna wanna be called that!)

I can just about guarantee this new guy is gonna dig a deep well to find a suitable and sustainable name...and hopefully one that rolls off the tongue well, and also isn't too stereotypically D.C. (And hopefully that one jack who went and trademarked all those nicknames doesn't get any more wise ideas...or anyone else tries that, for that matter.) I think the best idea they could have had also got trademarked (copyrighted?) by that same jack (Warthogs), so this next endeavor is gonna be bery bery interesting...

Man, Warthogs would’ve been such a perfect name, with opportunities for lots of fun branding.

These would be great but I personally kind of hope it's the road jersey from 1969 and onward that's white with the vertical sleeve stripes.  Would make JJ feel like he was back at LSU:

    PLEASE no plain white socks.

Personally I would take the Tommy Kramer look. I’m young enough that grey facemasks don’t look right to me unless the team has grey in their color scheme. Except for the Steelers, who, if we are being honest, should have (more) grey in their color scheme.

An NFL team with Marlins colors.  I'm with that!!!

Me too. Especially in that division. The Colts are good keeping it simple, but the Titans wear too much navy blue and the Jaguars have that nice teal, but in a really boring uniform set. There needs to be a bright color to balance out the navy and black.

I wish they could have used the proper wordmark however (check out the 'U' in 'Buccaneers" for example):

I also wish they had used the proper colors, and also provided the version of the logo that was used for marketing. (Different than was used on the helmets.)

Wait, how did the Bucco Bruce helmet logo differ from the main Bucco Bruce logo?

How dare the Saints forget about gold pants (except from 1975-1985).

At least the black pants they wore then had stripes.

They need to design a new set around their color rush look. Bengals did that and it is one of the best in the league. Change all gold elements to that bolder shade. Wear the same striping pattern - whatever it may be - on all three pairs of pants. Keep it simple and let the colors speak for themselves. And, as much as I know I’m tilting at windmills here, a pair of black-gold striped socks would do wonders.

Funny how that stuff works out. Packers are still using rippon jerseys. I wonder if they’ll ever be pressured into switching to Nike’s actual jerseys.

Teams have all the power to choose what to carry over. Probably more so because Nike doesn’t give a :censored: about the pants. Props to Las Vegas for doing just that.

Yep. Raiders and Cowboys insisted on continuing to wear metallic pants. Wish other teams with metallic colors had done the same.

I seriously doubt it because you can only have one alternate helmet and the Jets are dead set on the black look currently. It won't happen for quite a few years.

Couldn’t they just slap the old logo on the helmet and do a fauxback using the current shade of green?

Yeah, they can certainly do that, but the Saints' throwback helmet is actually depicted on a different color shell.

Yep, that gold is much richer (pun intended) than their current shade.

As someone who loves it when teams do a mix of modern and retro (a la Vikings) I love the helmet. It's phenomenal. I just wish they would wear it with the Thanksgiving throwback unis instead of the big grey blob

That’s their rebrand for next year. They’re going to wear those monochrome greys both home and away and change their name to “Detroit Big Grey Blob”. They will receive ALL the fire emojis.

What is there to overhaul? They have a good uniform. They just have some terrible combos they wear sometimes.

The overhaul is to make the terrible combos a full-time thing.

They've never used dark orange. I think he's referencing the red from the creamsicle era, which would make no sense to do since their regular uniform is red and would defeat the purpose of throwing back to the creamsicle era in the first place.

It could be a cool reverse retro or fauxback. But I want to see the real Creamsicles first.

While we’re being buc-jacked, I’ll add some more of my .02. The pewter jersey’s problems are the lack of black and orange trim for the cohesion of the entire set. Not saying it’ll look better, but it’s not just a recolor of the other jerseys. (Not even mentioning the second pewter pants). If they had that, they could just use the regular pants…I’d like to see pewter over white tbh.

maybe this is just folklore, but I remember being a young kid and hearing a story of the last game of the season in orange and they were actually going to wear orange/orange but Hardy Nickerson shot that down so they just wore orange/white.  Granted this was the 90s with no internet, no message boards, no social media, and color mono wasn’t really a thing. Does anyone have any info or hear anything similar?

why I don’t think it’s a white throwback is everything is being hyped as return of the creamsicle and not just return of bucco Bruce. That jersey is immediately recognizable for nostalgia and for your wallet.

I read that it was Sam Wyche’s idea (his last game as coach, he was a lame duck at this point), and the team vetoed it. I didn’t know anything about specific players.

Unpopular opinion: I like the pewter alts

I don’t DISlike the pewter jerseys. Or the pants. Or the socks. They just need something to break them up. Red socks would work wonders for that set.

As it stands currently, I’d rather see a white-over-white version of the creamsicles, as long as the socks are orange or striped.

I thought that might be an indication that it will be a white throwback, but then I realized this is the cover photo on the team Twitter page:

    https://twitter.com/Buccaneers/header_photo

I also don't think they would do white when everyone has been referring to them as the "Creamsicles".

Then again, this team is obsessed with white. Could they maybe be pull a Dolphins and do a white version and a color version of the throwbacks (and ditch the pointless pewter alternate to make room for it)?

We can at least hope so.

Lots of teams are doing production shoots this week.  Chiefs and Panthers notably released social media content, with the Chiefs showing Mahomes in the new FUSE template and multiple Panthers players in the new Process Blue FUSE jerseys with modified stripe.

The stripes are definitely thinner, and pointy on some players, while the point is truncated on others.

Either way, I liked the old Blue better and I hate that they’re wearing Black pants with these jerseys.

Also, it really didn’t fix the tiny TV number issues….at all.

Change the socks to blue and you’ve got something good.

I wasn't even going there. I just think blue and white feels Buffalo. The city flag, the heavy white accents, pants and helmet give a snowy vibe, etc... it just feels like it works for Upstate NY.

Oh, I was making a pun. I agree on all counts. The snow was what I was really thinking of with the white, but I couldn’t resist a little jab.
