  1. Absolutely. I'd bet the majority of us prefer the tops not match the bottoms in football, while preferring they do match in basketball. (Though you're still wrong about dark tops in baseball; match them with white or gray pants.)
  2. So they let the Saints have a lot of say in this? Is that what happened after Katrina when the Giants got an extra home game? Or is this being done because people were unhappy about that?
  3. Are you sure that's for the Winter Classic? Not that that doesn't make sense, but the social media posts didn't say that. I hope you're right that it's for the Classic, though. They finally settled on mostly red/green with minimal (whatever that is; tan/wheat/gold) and I don't want a full-time third jersey to go backwards.
  4. That was my understanding by watching a few minutes of ESPN...I guess I didn't absorb the degree to which it's set vs promised. It was framed as him playing this year and being able to go elsewhere next year.
  5. It’s weird…this will ostensibly be a lame-duck season…and they might win the Super Bowl.
  6. I was just told about something similar by a friend who's former player (he's a high school coach) is playing A ball in Peoria (Cardinals organization). He said the players prefer road trips because they lose money at home.
  7. I don’t want to go there in the summer, either. But this started with a discussion about Vegas relying on visiting fans to help fill their stadiums. Phoenix’s metro is twice as big and their teams don’t rely on traveling fans. I am not sharp enough to know whether a metro the size of Vegas can support all of these teams so if they can the discussion is moot. As for my summer travel point, perhaps I am projecting my own tastes and there are plenty of people that would travel from Chicago to catch the Cubs (or even the Sox) in July and hang out on the strip.
  8. I don't agree. You go for more than the game. The games themselves would be comfortable, but being outside for any reason is miserable in August. Would I go to Vegas for the Thursday Wild game and make a long weekend? Yes.* For a July Twins series? No. *Probably not, but if I was more of a "Vegas guy."
  9. Especially baseball. June-August, it's going to be more uncomfortable in Vegas than just about anyone's home town. I'm not sure going to see my MLB team in the summer works out quite as well as going to see an NFL* game in the fall or an NHL game in the winter. *NFL does start amidst the heat, as evidenced by my Labor Day weekend Wisconsin/UNLV trip...not the best time to get away to Vegas. But you as point out, it's the Raiders and it's the NFL. MLB is going to have to rely on the local population, at least for most of the season.
  10. It's the first I've seen of it (which doesn't mean it's not old news). I like the general identity but not some of the uniform execution. Logo. Slight downgrade but not a sticking point either way for me. Word mark. Slight upgrade, but not a sticking point. Colors. Awesome. A slightly less-awesome nod to the 1980s Bucks. Love it. Helmet. Upgraded colors downgraded wing. Uniforms. Upgrade. Better font and clearer but trying a bit too hard with the sleeve-nameplate-sleeve design. Bot a big fan of the sweatshirt-gray uniform either. Do I wish they'd have done this? Hell yeah. Though ideally with the 1980s helmet.
  11. Given what Lukas has been putting on social media... ...I like baseball coaching staffs in full uniform. Maybe I like it based primarily on tradition, but they also spend more time on the field than coaches in other sports and the uniform doesn't necessitate padding like hockey and football or shorts like soccer or basketball. It's far more aesthetically pleasing and functional in baseball. I especially think it would be weird to see base coaches out there in street clothes. I mean, sure, a third base coach could wind their arm excitedly to wave a runner home in loafers, dockers, and a team polo (and a team batting helmet) and maybe if it had always been that way, a full uniform would seem strange. That said, I like this quirk in baseball.
  12. I am saying this only a few posts from where I state that I prefer only one vivid color...but my gosh do the flames look good as is. I was heartbroken when they added black and I'd put them in a small mix for best looking team in the league. That said, I think maroon might work out alright. Not sure whether you mean using maroon as an additional color or in place of red, but I've seen concepts with maroon in addition to red that have looked pretty good. Iowa State has a bit of this going on with their darker trim and it looks decent.
  13. I agree. While I tend to agree with most people that the darkening of uniforms in recent decades has been a negative overall (as evidenced by soulless teams like the Mavericks and the previous Brewers look), I tend to prefer one vivid color instead of two. For example, I am not a fan of the kelly green A's jersey. I think the forest green looks a lot better alongside the yellow. Similarly, alongside orange, I tend to prefer a darker blue. Maybe the darker trend pulled me in a bit, but I find multiple vivid colors to be a bit too loud for my taste.
  14. Agreed. I'm not a "Vegas guy." Been there once (for Wisconsin at UNLV) and it wasn't my kind of travel spot. That said, if I was, going for a Vikings game or making a long weekend for a Thursday Wild game in February? Sure. Hitting Vegas to see the Twins in July? No.
  15. I agree with the post about Washington being better off without yellow pants and not because some other teams wear them. A few years ago, when I heard they were going with yellow pants, I thought it sounded great. But those pants never looked right to me. Assuming they keep their general look and color scheme, I hope they keep with only white or burgundy pants.
  16. Do people tend to think of these as lazy or do you like them? I love them. As someone who knows every uniform since I started buying cards i the early 1980s, I enjoy seeing these modern takes. I see them more as tributes than rip-offs.
  17. I suspect by jumping up several pages, someone's mentioned the Bills (looks like that's what all this face mask talk probably derived from). Did I see that the Bills are going to white as their "primary" face mask color? Does that mean they may show up one Sunday with gray, red, or blue face masks? Or would that only be in the case of a throwback or something? College teams switch face masks a lot (Wisconsin bounces between red and white) but in the NFL the helmet is such a major identifier, I'd be kind of surprised to see this happen frequently. It seems like a mistake to have helmets changing a lot. Jerseys? Sure; fans buy those. But is there really a big run on helmets (full-sized and/or mini) that Bills Mafia members are going to need one with each face mask color? I think the move to white is an improvement, though blue or red would have been better. Gray generally sticks out like a sore thumb on teams without gray or silver. But we're probably at the point at which the topic of gray face masks need to be given the distinction of "quasi-political" and banned.
  18. This is the most popular unpopular opinion ever.
  19. I recall when the Twins were the last team to have a nameplate on pinstripes. People said, correctly, that it looked cheap. I agree and I’m glad that they changed it but contrasting nameplates like the Flyers have is much more egregious.
  20. I feel like my distaste for the Flyers nameplates is unpopular. They look cheap to me and the Flyers uniforms look like the 1970s decade from which they came...it feels like the 1980s version was a proper modernization of that look. Pictured below is my favorite Flyers jersey ever. Probably not a popular opinion. HOWEVER, I guess the current Flyers uniform caused me to have a Manela effect. I would have bet anything the contrasting nameplatae was taken right from the 1970s. The mothership seems to show that they did NOT have contrasting nameplates in the 1970s. That said, the current trim is based off of the 1970s and the sleeve numbers hanging off of the orange onto the white looks cheap to me as well. I think they got it right in the 1980s.
  21. But when you look at how bad the Jets are, why are they even worried about making graphics like this and designing new uniforms a few years ago when they need to be drafting and coaching better? (Just to be clear, I'm kidding; somehow this reminded me of that statement fans like to make, as if designing uniforms actually gets in the way with sportsball operations). I tend to agree with you that I doubt a graphic designer would do this intentionally for giggles. It's probably not a good way to keep your job for a long time to be sliding stuff like this past the team, thereby making the organization look bad. I'd bet graphic designers working for sports teams are pretty replaceable as many people would love to work for a team.
  22. I like Navy in general, though it might be overused. Not sure how unpopular this is but I think the Bears are by far the "drabbest" team in the NFL. I admit that I don't know much about pantones, etc. but if you look at the Islanders photo above, I think it's a decent look. I believe (someone correct me if I am wrong) that the Bears blue is darker. I think if their blue looked like the Islanders (i.e., a bit lighter) or if it was just black instead of blue (i.e., like the Bengals), I'd like their look a lot better. But their shade is kind of in this weird in-between spot that just doesn't appeal to me. If I am wrong about the darkness of the Bears's color, then it must be something about the way they balance their colors.
  23. That's still my favorite Seahawks jersey. And helmet. It's my favorite uniform, even though they always struggled with the pants (whehter going mono or not). I thought that color was terrific.
  24. I've enjoyed the episodes so far, particularly how Chris and Paul sort of evolved into making uniforms and logos more than just an odd interest (like it always was for me).
  25. Unpopular opinion, I am sure, but the full-body jag would look great on a helmet.
