  1. I live in Dallas and the talk early in this NBA season was that if Texas ever legalized gambling outside of the Texas Lottery that the Dallas Mavericks will want a new arena that is the centerpiece of a Casino and entertainment complex in Dallas, leaving the American Airlines Center for the Stars.
  2. if ABQ gets an MLS team, it probably won't be New Mexico United. It would likely be a generic "New Mexico FC"
  3. TXA 21 once had the Rangers, Mavericks and Stars at the same time and had FC Dallas until last season. It will be interesting to see if the Rangers, Mavericks and Stars all go back to TXA 21. They are the current home of the Dallas Jackals of Major League Rugby.
  4. Denver is a win away from their first ever NBA Title.
  5. Messi will be an owner of MLS by then as it's been reported that "future ownership stake" ala David Beckham was one of the things that got him to accept. For Neymar to come to the MLS, one of the LA teams, one of the New York teams, Inter Miami and maybe Chicago are going to have to offer him a similar deal to Messi. I think that Neymar though has one more major contract left before he even considers MLS. I don't know about their English language skils (although I have seen IG posts from Messi in English) but stars of the magnitude of Messi and Neymar would have to know the language eventually. An unknown defender from Columbia playing for FC Dallas can get away with not speaking any English but not Neymar or Messi. Beckham of course is English. Thierry Henry spent years in the EPL before he went to the MLS. Zlatan spoke English quite well. Mbappe speaks pretty good English. Ronaldo speaks English from his years in the EPL.
  6. Watching the special session of the Nevada Legislature and I realized one thing: - I think one of the dude's name is Jeremy Aguero? He needs to say it at least 100 more times for me to know for sure.
  7. Louisville and Albuquerque could be options for MLS expansion if they go beyond 32, both find some billionaire to join their ownership group and in the case of ABQ, their own stadium.
  8. that's not going to happen. The owner of the Miami Dolphins Stephen "I tampered with Tom Brady" Ross hates the MLS and he would have something to say about that if it comes up.
  9. he probably didn't want to meet with all 100 owners LAFC has.
  10. Messi wasn't surprising though as MLS was promoting him alongside Thiago Almada of Atlanta United during the World Cup.
  11. I didn't buy the rumors that he was close to signing with Sporting KC anyways.
  12. So Messi turned down Saudi Arabia for MLS.....the opposite of what Cristiano Ronaldo did. MLS will be doing this again with M'Bappe and Neymar in about 5-10 years.
  13. I think it might be a better idea if the league was more like "if you want to continue playing football after high school but don't want to get an education by going to college" format, but that would mean that prospects would have to have a 3 year commitment. In other words, like the NBA G League Ignite except for three years instead of one. Instead it sounds more like Overtime Elite: Overtime Elite - Wikipedia
  14. if the Nevada Legislature doesn't pass the A's Stadium deal, John Fisher and Dave Kaval will get a Seth Rollins style laugh from me.
  15. I think Louisville has a shot if MLS expands to 40. Right now that's just fan speculation. I think the two MLS teams for 31 and 32 should be Indy and Phoenix.
  16. I just don't think Vegas is sustainable enough for 5 Major League Teams.
  17. I just don't think Las Vegas should automatically get an NBA team because their Vegas and already has a relationship with the NBA through the Summer League. If anything I think the 32nd WNBA team should be Louisville or even Kansas City. They also should not be in the running for future MLS expansion and was very happy they didn't become the 30th MLS team and if MLS goes 32 it should be Indianapolis and Louisville (if Lou City gets a major financial backer) or Phoenix (if Phoenix Rising ever gets a long term stadium solution).
  18. 31 is Seattle, but if I was the NBA, I'd make it a wide open competition and not make it such a lock for Las Vegas, but Las Vegas may not want that, as I would suspect that they want to be locked down for the 32nd spot. I love cities that are brand new to major league sports, like I did with Las Vegas when they got the Golden Knights, so I wouldn't mind Louisville either getting NBA team #32 or an MLS team.
