  1. I get it, I get it. I just don't like it.
  2. Yeah, doesn’t help. And I know that it’s old. I’ll remember this the next time somebody accuses me of reflexively defending all old designs.
  3. That’s such a huge improvement. The only thing better would be swapping out the A for a T. City initials > nickname initials.
  4. This is absolutely on point. All the new football leagues look to me like baseball in Boston. The Red Sox sell our every game, but that doesn’t mean the city is so desperate for baseball that a second team would be an automatic success.
  5. Yep. They sent Chris a cease & desist letter.
  6. Not what you're thinking. Because words mean things. It's frustrating, because many of the recent unveilings have been very, very good. Austin, Miami, New York City, LA, Charlotte. All solid-to-excellent. But Nashville, Chicago and St. Louis are huge steps in the wrong direction. I guess we can say that all three of those at least use unique color schemes, which is why I'd put the MLS branding as a whole up against any other pro league in this country - no more clunkers than any other, and more color variety.
  7. Here is St. Louis in context with the rest of the league. I like the colors, but that badge is really not good. Bottom three in the league. Which is really frustrating, since two of the bottom three are brand-new.
  8. Minneapolis City has been on a tear since then, really having fun with it. Now if they were really wanting to push it, they'd make that MpLS logo their avatar.
  9. You are right, and I will correct that. That was a guess-slash-wishful thinking on my part, and I guessed wrong. Thanks. I think.
  10. Possibly, maybe even probably. But I'm holding off until I see something from the club. It's strange, because that usually gets released at the same time as the main badge. Charlotte put it in the reveal video, oftentimes it's a website graphic or appears on a piece of merchandise. But none the St Louis merch released so far has any MLS anything on it. No word, no logo, nothing.
  11. Updated. Just guessing on the Charlotte and St Louis shirt colors, and I'm not willing to guess on the STL MLS badge colors, so that one stays gray for now.
  12. Ooo, that's an old one. There's been a several updates since then. New teams, one new badge, and a couple updated shields have since been changed. Here's the most recent version, I just need to patch the placeholders for Charlotte and St. Louis.
  13. Yes, but they're also about to move into a new stadium. Which makes this pretty standard timing.
  14. Good luck! Hope you can get the Tigers to reconsider their really dumb decision.
  15. I know it's not new with this rebrand, but I really hate styling the name as "Ualbany".
  16. More than that, I think these types of actions can and sometimes do result in real change. Marriage Equality was a punchline until enough Americans said "wait, why can't gay couples get married?" Which happened in part because lots of people and companies started normalizing it. A whole bunch of seemingly empty gestures added up to change minds. The more we can normalize companies and schools and individuals saying "yeah, systemic racism is a real thing", the more likely it becomes that we'll muster the political will to actually do something about it. Individually? Yeah, probably pretty meaningless. But taken collectively, they can literally change the world. So I'm loath to dismiss any of them, no matter how self-serving or crass. If entities feel pressure to do the right thing, they're still doing the right thing.
  17. It's a gorgeous flourish, and I'm glad that the University has adopted it as a symbol. But even though the inspiration for the logo comes from the Field House, I'm not aware that it's ever been considered an athletics mark. I'm pretty sure they designed the logo as something for the University as a whole.
  18. Well, that's always the issue. We're still stuck with many of the empty gestures inaugurated after 9/11, and some of the ones we were able to get rid of lingered until the last couple years. I think the University would be best off saying "We're doing this for the _____ season/school year, to recognize this moment in our nation's history." Make it clear that it's a temporary tribute. Leaving it open-ended makes it hard to remove without seeming like you no longer care about the issue or that you're dumb enough to think the issue has been solved.
  19. Thank you - I don't remember that at all. Were you thinking of this one?
  20. Ah, the Badgers’ website has this extra tidbit: Interesting. But I’m not surprised they’re also playing around with the, um, the athletics “W”.
  21. Is it on the helmet? They might replace the state outline. Or it could just go where the anniversary logos go.
  22. Fair enough. I’m sure there are people who like the old Sabres logo and don’t prefer the term “Buffaslug”. But there we are. I see people refer disparagingly to the Brewers’ glove logo (which I have fond memories of, even if it’s not my favorite) as the “paw”. I really don’t mean anything personal by it. It’s just a catchy nickname.
  23. Maybe. Although that would have been harder to read. Interestingly, Bucky's not on the football uniforms either.
