  1. Seattle Sea Dragons V1 Alright, this one was tough and definitely needs some refinement. I'm not even sure this is the actual form the logo should take but it's my first attempt at blending the new and old Seattle logo. The new one is nice in that it integrates an S shape (for Seattle presumably... or Sea, I guess) and it's more angular design is kind of nice looking but it was simplified so much that it lost a lot of the charm the original had. This first draft is still a little simple for my tastes and I may try a completely different version that is more reminiscent of the OG logo but which integrates the S form as well. For now though this is a good start.
  2. DC Defenders V1 I didn't need to do too much for the first draft of this one. The original Defenders logo was solid and recognizable and they even updated it and made it even more distinct in XFL23 but relegated it to secondary logo status... So I re-upgraded (if that makes sense) that logo back to primary status over the DC mark - which is a decent logo in and of itself but less recognizable and, in my opinion, worse than the pentagon lightning bolt logo. I also modified the Pentagon logo a little adding elements back in from their old logo and modifying the way the lightning bolts interact with each other and the overall line weights and things. This one is still pretty rough, and very much a first draft, but I think it's a good start. Here is my updated version of the D logo for reference as well. Not much has changed here but I made the '3D' elements less prominent and changed the size of the star and C.
  3. St. Louis Battlehawks V1 This is my first iteration of an edited Battlehawks logo. The biggest change is returning to the aesthetic of their old logo. I think the more angular look is a downgrade, if only a minor one, but a downgrade nonetheless. I tried to keep the same general idea intact with a sword and wing logo but I'm open to more drastic changes. I also changed the color palette a little to soften the grey making it a bit more blue in hue, which I'm not sure is a positive change. I also included the St. Louis arch in the negative space created by 'unifying' the shape of the logo. Let me know what you think! Also, I plan on doing uniforms eventually, but I want to get a few logos in a good spot first!
  4. Editing the 2023 XFL Firstly, I would like to mention that my first sport is hockey, and I primarily design for said sport as a hobby. However, I saw the latest XFL team reveals and felt like they left a bit to be desired. Judging by the some of the reactions in the CCSLC XFL 2023 thread I don't think I'm alone in that assessment. I also would just generally like to work on my football design 'skills' as it were. I do want to stress the word 'edit' though, as I don't want to stray too far from the original branding (locations included) or aesthetic in these concepts. I also think this thread will be very iterative and I welcome others to post their changes/ recommendations/ concepts if they so please. And, as the XFL 23 teams aren't really all that substantially different from the XFL 20 teams pulling design elements from either seems logical (maybe even some references to the original XFL). I think the XFL this time around is going for a very e-sports adjacent look and in this thread I will try to thread the needle between more traditional football design and that e-sports look the XFL seems to be actively trying to achieve. As always C&C is very much appreciated, and, because of my lack of experience designing for football, I think it will be necessary to actually create worthwhile, likeable concepts. For reference here are all the REAL logos for the XFL 2023 season. Edited logos so far.. Contents St. Louis Battlehawks V1 - Uniforms V1 Seattle Sea Dragons V1 (Las?) 5. Interesting reveal. Think some people are being a little overly critical in the thread to be honest. The DC set looks good and I think the DC-star mark is a solid and recognizable football logo which is better than their City's NFL team, in my opinion. Guardians logo is ok but not for an Orlando team. I never liked the Vipers logo so that logo is a slight upgrade to me. Seattle is a pretty good set I think. The colors were pretty well done as well for a relatively non-conventional palette. Renegades. I mean, yeah the hate is warranted here. Looks like a scratched Overwatch League team (old primary logo included). St. Louis looks about the same and I didn't mind it the first time around. Brahmas? Another esports-esque logo (maybe that was their play? Get the yungins involved?). Not good. I'll at least commend them for trying something completely new. For some reason I keep thinking of the Brahmin from Fallout, though. Roughnecks is a good logo through and through. Not much to criticize here to be honest. All in all, Seattle, STL, DC, and Houston look solid enough in my opinion. The other half of the league does look a little rough though.
  6. It's defo a deep cut but I think it works, and all three look miles better than our RR this year! Personal favorite is probably the red/black.
  7. I actually like your version of the Ravens helmet, It's quite unique and could look really cool on the field.
  8. this sounds fun! I'm definitely game.
  9. Greywood College Wardens Finally got around to finishing this concept. Changed the colors in the end giving them a bit of an MSU vibe. The US forest service imagery and nickname originate from the fact that David Greywood, the founder of the college, was one of the primary voices in the movement to create a national parks and forest department in order to protect the natural environments of the US. Carrying on that spirit, Greywood is today the premier university in the US for ecological sciences and zoological studies. Their hockey program also excels due to the popularity of the sport in South Dakota and surrounding states.
  10. Seattle University (SeaU) Super Sonics Neighbors and natural fierce rivals of Aerospace, one of the big names in western college hockey. They originally borrowed their name from Seattle's basketball franchise (now in OKC) after the school's basketball program skyrocketed their athletics to national prominence in the 80s when 4 graduates all ended up being stars on the very same Seattle basketball team. Now, the school is far better known for their hockey program which has consistently produced pro-level talent throughout the 2000s and 2010s.
  11. Central Louisiana Bourbons V2.0 The final ''original team'' to be redesigned (not including the wardens, who I never even finished). All concepts from here out will be new and I can finally start dedicating all time on this project to new stuff. However, that will definitely mean I will have to take more time between each concept. Didn't change the Bourbons much, I quite liked the original logo I had for them so I just updated their color palette like I did for the Gillmen.
  12. Massachusetts Technological Mechanists The first team from the east coast! This team kicks off the EAHC conference which will mostly consist of hardcore hockey schools the far north east of the US and maritime provinces of Canada. I picture the Eastern American Conference and the Hockeyland Conference being the two 'big' conferences in NACA hockey with most of the powerhouse teams. However, the other smaller conferences will house powerhouse schools too, like Deseret, Montana Valley, and SeaU, to name a few.
  13. ECC is about a 2.5 hour drive up the mountains from Denver in winter so poor Bernie is gonna have to give up AvDogs mascot duties to another individual. Also, the hat I based the original concept on depicts a labrador-esque (apparently they use American upland-labs sometimes, I'm not good with dog breeds so I'm not too sure) dog instead of a traditional St. Bernard like Bernie is meant to be. Bernie's lab cousin can absolutely take up the mantle though.
  14. Wyoming State University Founders V2.0 The penultimate update for the old teams! This one is especially minor as I think the original concept was pretty solid.
  15. University of Florida at Three Lakes Gillmen V2.0 Another update. This one focuses primarily on coloration and shading changes. Something about the original Gillmen was just far too muted for my tastes now. So I've brightened some of their palette and redone their jerseys, sticking with the Kraken-esque striping though.
  16. Eagle County College Avalanche Dogs v2.0 Based on reactions on the post, this school is a 'fan favorite' as it were (a whole 8 thumbs up), so I decided to make only very minor tweaks and updates to the uniforms and logos, hopefully they are all in a positive direction of change, and the update is well received by the AvDog faithful. I also made them the Avalanche dogs, not the avalance dogs. Oops.
  17. University of Deseret Pioneers While I work on updating the older teams, I decided to post a brand new school. The next addition to the Central American Conference: the University of Deseret, officially the University of Deseret in Utah. Actually, I found out that the U of Utah in real life was originally called the University of Deseret, which is kinda cool I guess. The logo itself is heavily based on this one I found when I was looking for inspiration for other teams. Just wanted to give credit/ be transparent about how blatant a rip off this logo is . Unfortunately, I don't have the original source so I'm not sure who to credit, if I find it I will update. No alternate yet, as I don't have any good ideas or concepts for them at the moment, will update with an alternate uniform if and when I make it!
  18. Goodwell Christian Addax v2.0 Another massively long hiatus from this project... Sorry, BUT I have plans to actually continue this series with a few teams already fleshed out and more or less ready to post. HOWEVER, before the new teams I wanted to go back over the existing teams I did and update them in some capacity, starting with the Addax who are in desperate need of an update, more than any other team I think. The ultimate goal will be to have 3 or 4 conferences of 8 or so teams, maybe more, maybe less. Since I started this series, almost two years ago (yeesh), my skills have improved a reasonable amount and I'm far more able to execute on concepts and ideas I think of. I also just got a new Wacom tablet so I can sketch ideas more effectively . I will also note, I repurposed the Gillmen in my general concept thread but I will still be reupdating them here as well. Let the updates of the existing teams begin. I feel like the original logo left ALOT to be desired and this new one is certainly better but I'm still not 100% sure it's exactly what I wanted. I've also slightly tweaked the colors, making them all a little more vibrant. Ok, that's the biggest eyesore at least somewhat cleared up. I will soon be posting updated versions of every one of the existing teams (and actually finishing the Wardens), some will be updated more than others as some need it more than others.
  19. I really like the burgundy, and agree with you, I also wish burgundy/ maroon were used more across American sports as a whole. The Hoosiers are probably one of my favorites of this series so far. I keep picturing them with a subtle glossy texture on their numbering, something like the Avs use.
  20. My thoughts as well. Connecticut Whale? I understand they want to make reference to the legendary Whalers and probably can't/ don't want to use their exact branding/ naming but Whale is pretty bad imo. Whereas, Pride is a decent enough name but seems a bit of a token women's sports team name, almost like the 'female' counterpart of lions. Regarding the designs, I really like the Beauts, Six, and Riveters. The striping on each team is aesthetically pleasing while distinct. The Riveters is an especially well done take on an otherwise pretty common color scheme. Good work!
  21. Note: the second alt is meant to be a 'City Connect' style jersey that is based on a Five Guys aesthetic as Idaho is a their only potato supplier, and generally the primary supplier of potatoes for fries generally.
  22. Canes probably came out the best here but they all look super cool to me. The AI's art 'style', if you can call it that, is so nice to look at, even if it subject matter is super abstract.
