  1. To give myself a quick break from finals season, here's a quick team update. Las Vegas Gamblers Las Vegas gets a completely redesigned identity. I really liked the previous update, it felt too complex and the color balance failed .to do the color scheme justice. The new identity keeps the glitzy style and card suite imagery while emphasizing the iconic Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign. The uniforms shift the color balance to focus on black and red while keeping the teal and white from sticking out too much. Card suite emblems are sublimated into the helmet and pants stripes, but are the focus of the jersey striping. That's all for now. I'd love to hear more feedback on Vegas and the New York and Boston updates. I'm still pouring my heart into this series, even if it isn't getting too much attention. With winter break right around the corner, I imagine I'll be able to squeeze in an update or too before school gets too hectic again. Until then, I hope you enjoy this update. Made in Affinity Designer. C&C appreciated.
  2. Colorado will be called the Rangers. Not changing my mind on this, especially when one suggestion sounds like an XFL team and the other is already used for another team. Rangers is the only name idea I like in the slightest that sounds professional. Anyways, here's a quick couple of updates, both to Atlantic teams. BOSTON MARINERS The Mariners get a tweaked logo with a slightly darkened shade of teal, as well as redesigned uniforms. The previous set wasn't working for me, so I went for something a bit more nautical and modern. The nautical flags spelling out BOSTON stay, with thin stripes akin to the LA Clippers' shorts adding extra detail to the pants and shoulder yoke. NEW YORK TOWERS New York gets a new logo package, slightly darker color scheme, and redesigned uniforms. The new logo package tries to feel a bit more gothic and classic. The previous logo idea is reworked to fit in a shield taken from the New York state seal, and a blackletter NY monogram serves as a secondary logo. The uniforms now go for a classic feel, inspired by the Chicago Bears' 1936 throwbacks and the University of Michigan's uniforms. I thought a more vintage look would fit well with the more classic aesthetic and New York's vibe as a historically rich city. That's all for now. I'm pretty happy with the entire Atlantic division right now, so expect a project over on my Bēhance featuring identity packages for the full division sometime soon. As for the rest of the league, I've got plenty of ideas for updates that I'm pretty happy with so far, so expect more updates once winter break rolls around. Made in Affinity Designer. C&C appreciated.
  3. Since I've had a good handful of teams that have been nothing but trouble to develop identities for, I'm very strongly considering getting rid of a few teams and switching to a 36-team, 6-divisions of 6 league format. Between geographic convenience and teams that just aren't working for me, the cities I'd get rid of are Buffalo, Portland, Kansas City, and Louisville. I feel a bit icky about making big changes to the league like this when I'm already years deep into the project, but it is what it is. I feel like a 36 team format would be a bit more realistic in terms of how playoff structure and scheduling works, and 36 teams isn't all that unrealistic for any other league. 40 seems to be pushing it. I'm not entirely happy that the new division alignment gets rid of the north/south conference format, as I impressed myself a little getting that alignment to work, but I'd rather get rid of 4 teams than eliminate 8 just for the sake of keeping the alignment the same. Anyways, here's what the league looks like with the new format, along with an updated team list. I'd love to see y'all's thoughts on the realignment, and any recommendations for the teams I intend to update. Made in Affinity Designer. C&C appreciated.
  4. I mentioned multiple times that I'm going with the rose theme. I like the logo I've come up with too much to look elsewhere for inspiration.
  5. Again, I was kinda hoping to hear some more feedback on the last few posts, but whatever. Here's another batch of updates. I'm still slowly getting around to making sure I'm happy with every team, but some teams are a lot harder than others. Some teams are a ways away from being posted, but I'm close to ready on a bunch of teams. For now, here's a couple of updates. Arizona Thunderbirds The Thunderbirds get an updated logo and wordmark, with a greater emphasis on lightning imagery. Uniforms updated to match. Milwaukee Barons The Barons get a simplified crest, tweaked colors, a new wordmark logo, and updated uniforms. Seattle Emeralds The Emeralds get a tweaked logo, which is now more consistent and more accurate to the real space needle. Lastly, Portland. I'm not quite sold on a name for Portland just yet. I've made a rose-themed logo and shield, so the team will definitely be rose themed, but I'm unsure what to call the team right now. The names I've thought of include Rosebuds, Roses, Thorns, and Rose City GFC (Gridiron Football Club). I feel like all of the names have obvious downsides: Roses is a tad generic, Rosebuds and Thorns are already used by real teams, and Rose City GFC doesn't jive with the football aesthetic. I'd love to hear some ideas for the name, or at least an argument for the above names. Regardless, Portland will be rose-themed and revolve around this identity: As per usual, I'd love to hear y'all's thoughts on the updates, especially regarding Portland. That's all for now. Made in Affinity Designer. C&C appreciated.
  6. Whipped up another batch of updates. Houston Voyagers The Voyagers get a fully reworked logo and uniform package, inspired by NASA's mission patches. Uniforms are stripped down and simplified, relying on an alternate patch logo and the bold color scheme to drive the uniform set. Wordmark and number font are tweaked to reflect the NASA 'worm' typeface more closely. Minnesota Evergreens The Evergreens revert back to the green red and cream color scheme, with a blockier logo and typeface taking center stage. The uniforms return to the older striped set, though this time with a white away jersey and modified plaid patterns in the striping. The new, darker cream shade works a bit better with a white jersey in my book compared to previous versions. Detroit Mechanics The Mechanics get a revamped logo and uniform set, focusing more heavily on chrome tones and a brighter red. Uniforms are modified to feel more classic, and a new inlined font takes center stage. That's all I have for now. I have plans to continue updating some teams I haven't given much attention recently like San Antonio and Québec. I still plan on finishing this series as best as I can. Made in Affinity Designer. C&C appreciated.
  7. I was hoping for some C&C on the Falcons, but whatever. On to the next team, the Titans. Tennessee Titans The Titans current set makes me unspeakably angry. Every single element is cheesy or ugly or both, and yet somehow it comes together to not look that bad. It's still awful, especially in monochrome, but at the very least all the stupid stuff plays off of each other well. And yet, it's awful. The color balance is atrocious, taking a unique and vibrant color scheme and turning it into a bland mess of navy and grey. The sword motif is wayyy overplayed and is executed poorly, there's way too many bad-looking combos, the helmet looks ugly, and there's not nearly enough powder blue. My redesign takes the whole current set and combines what works there with the previous look, slightly tweaking the colors to be more vibrant, turning the sword motif into a usable striping pattern, emphasizing the blocks of color that made the Titans' inaugural set so enduring, making the helmet light blue, and ditching all the gross silver tones. The alternates include a light blue jersey and a throwback to the inaugural Titans set. That's all for now, I have some ideas for some teams with more pressing need for change, but I'm still keeping with the 'one team at a time' plan. Made in Affinity Designer. C&C appreciated.
  8. They've been ditched. I was never particularly pleased with London's branding, and as much as I liked Mexico City's vibe, it was overshadowed to me by the unoriginal logo concept and the boring typeface, plus the geography of having teams so far away from the rest of the league just felt wrong to me. Perhaps one day I'll revisit them as their own teams outside of the rest of the project, but for now I don't plan to do anything with them going forward.
  9. Going at the series a division at a time isn't working for me, so I'm just gonna post teams on their own as I make 'em. Given that, here's Atlanta. The Falcons' current set doesn't seem terrible on paper, but in practice it looks both garish and underwhelming at the same time. My redesign throws out the whole current set aside from a tweaked number font, adding a striping pattern based off of the body segments in the logo and returning to red helmets and silver pants. The Falcons logo just doesn't work on a black background to me, plus the red helmet helps set them apart from other black jersey teams. Alternates include a red alternate instead of a gross gradient mess and a white throwback to the Falcons' 1997 set. That's all I have for now, expect some scattered teams every once in a while. I'm mostly just doing whatever team I have ideas for in the moment, so I can't say for sure who'll be next. Made in Affinity Designer. C&C appreciated.
  10. Alrighty, time for another batch of updates. First off, now that the league no longer has teams outside of the US and Canada, the league is getting a new name and a logo to match. The league will henceforth be known as the North American Football Association. The logo is pretty straightfoward, with simplified US and Canadian flags inside the same badge that was previously used to keep the North and South imagery denoting the conferences. Montréal Monarques The Monarques get a complete overhaul, with a new badge logo honoring Montréal's fortifications, a tweaked color scheme for a more royal feel, and more classy, timeless uniforms. Indiana Checkers I'm not completely sold on whether this is an upgrade over the previous logo, but I'd like to hear your thoughts regardless. The Checkers logo is redesigned to fit a badge, shaped to echo a racing track. A thin red white and blue racing stripe runs down the center of the badge and inside the jersey collar. I tried out a checkered helmet for the first time, and I'm not quite sure how I feel about it yet. Aside from that, I think the uniforms and font are a clear upgrade, I'm just not quite sold on the logo or helmet. Cleveland Buckeyes Tweaked the crest to be more timeless and simple. Toronto Lakers Simplified the crest down to only what I felt was necessary. The CN tower in the anchor is gone, as I felt it threw off the shape of the anchor and bogged down the logo. Washington Sentinels Tweaked colors to pop more and updated the font. That's all I have for now. School's starting up again soon, and this fall should be especially busy for me, but I'll try to work on the series through the school year as best as I can. Until next time! 11. I've done a thread for NFL redesigns in the past, but looking back I'm not too fond of any of the changes I made. So, I decided to go at an full NFL redesign again, tailored more toward making every team look the best they can than change for change's sake. I'm sure some of the changes I've made are ultimately gonna ruffle someone's feathers, but this project is more of a personal 'what if' scenario looking at what changes would be made if it were up to me alone. With that little intro out of the way, let's lay out some rules. Teams may have up to 2 alternate uniforms; 1 home alt and 1 away alt. Alternate uniforms can be worn for up to 5 games a year. 1 alternate uniform, preferably a throwback, may use an alternate-colored helmet. Socks must contrast pants on the main set; 1 alt/throwback look for each team can go full monochrome. Both of a team's alternate uniforms can be throwback/fauxback looks. If a team prefers white-at-home or one set over another, then the preferred uniform cannot be worn more than 10 games a year. (Looking at you, Cowboys!) Color vs. Color matchups are allowed, though only with sufficient, noticeable contrast to accommodate for colorblind viewers. Alright, time to jump into the redesigned jerseys. Buffalo Bills The Bills already have a really solid look nailed down, so only minor tweaks are needed for them to be perfect in my eyes. The facemask switches from white to blue, the navy trim is eliminated, and the champion block font returns. Alts include a red jersey taken from the current color rush look and the white 1960s throwback they've used for awhile now. Miami Dolphins The current Dolphins set is woefully average. Nothing terrible, but a far cry from what they could look like. My redesign meshes the throwbacks with the current set for a more balanced look, with two striping patterns that keep the aqua and orange separate for contrast. An update orange alt jersey gets thrown into the mix, along with a vice-themed Color Rush set for extra Miami flair. Logo is a color-modified version of Mark Crosby's amazing Dolphins logo. New England Patriots The current Pats look is easily the worst in the team's history. Every single previous set, however gaudy or stuck in the early 2000's, has worked with the era it's from and been some form of charming or iconic. The current mismatched color rush is just boring and ugly. So I took the good elements of the color rush and the Brady era set and reworked it to be more consistent and professional. Navy pants get the boot. Alts bring the return of the Elvis shoulder '96 set and the classic shoulder stripes Pat Patriot set. New York Jets The Jets current triangle stripe set isn't bad, but they feel more like a MAC NCAA team than a Nike-branded NFL franchise, especially one with such a long history. I kept the Kelly green helmets, with a custom NY plane logo inspired by Mark Crosby and GameplanChicago's Jets concepts. Jersey and sock striping is a shrunken, more stripes version of the classic shoulder stripes of the past. Pants and helmet stripes angle at the bottom for a jet trail effect. Alternates include a reworked black alt and a New York Titans AFL throwback. That's all I have for now. I plan to take this series a division at a time, maybe updating sporadically every 2-8 weeks or so. This fall will be particularly busy for me (yay senior year) so posts here or on the IAAF thread will be fewer and farther between. Made in Affinity Designer. C&C appreciated.
  12. Go for it! Glad you're enjoying my work so much. As sometimes clunky as the Towers nickname is, it's the only name I like that I have had any realistic ideas for. It's certainly not my favorite name, but it works fine as is, especially if I lean into the Art Deco theme to celebrate multiple famous buildings in the area. I'll be sticking with it for the time being, but I'm planning an update to the logo package in the future. Anyways, while I haven't been able to design much since the last update, I was able to get some progress done on a handful of updates, though only one I think is ready to share. Miami Tropics: Full rebrand. Brighter, more tropical colors take the stage in a revamped logo package that emulates a neon sign while still retaining a tropical vibe. Uniforms are essentially lifted from what I would call a perfect Dolphins set, though with wavy stripes to mimic both a wave and sunburst imagery to represent the Florida region. Not a big update by any means, but I wanted to get something out here, and I'm really happy with how Miami turned out. Expect some more scattered updates throughout the summer. That's all I have for now. Made in Affinity Designer. C&C appreciated.
  13. good thing Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and BenJarvus Green-Ellis have retired already, it would be a nightmare fitting that on the nameplate
  14. Not to mention very similar face shading. I'm never a fan of the NFL copywrite claiming smaller leagues on such small matters like these, but this instance in particular was a bit more justified. The more you look at each logos defining features, the more and more similar the two logos become. I can see why the NFL thought they were similar, but filing a copywriter claim after the league had already died (plus the logo was never really used to begin with) is just a jerk move.
  15. Wow, that's really good. The NFL score bug in particular looks incredibly realistic and the motion graphics feel really smooth. I'd love to see expanded parts of the package like stat sections and other parts of the system. On the MLB scorebug with the standings, however, it feels far too detailed to be able to understand what the numbers all mean at first glance. Regardless, this is an amazing look you've made!
  16. Aaaand here's a simplified crest for Cincy, per @QCS & @_DietDrPepper_'s suggestion. Definitely worth the extra effort, I'm liking this version much better.
  17. That's understandable. I'll see if I can shrink the building down to fit completely inside the shield. That should probably make all the difference. As for the font, I'll revisit that too. I wanted something a bit more blocky but unique, but I definitely lost some of the Art Deco flair along the way, and I totally see that clashing a bit with the rest of the identity. Don't worry, the C-shamrock is still the primary logo, the roundel is more of a global logo like in the NBA's logo system. I'll definitely look into simplifying a bit. The spike on the C helps fit the shamrock and the C together for me, notice how it moves with the curve of the shamrock, plus it feels more in-line with the wishbone C the Reds use. I can see it sticking out from the rest of the font, but without it, it feels a lot more bland to me. That's the thing, I felt like the flag striping was used too much. I felt that the cuff and collar detail combined with the patch was a good compromise that stayed consistent with the rest of the uniform. I'll see how the full stripe works on the sleeves, but I prefer the current detailing for now. How's this? Silver should work a lot better. I'd hate to completely get rid of it, considering how unique it is compared to rest of the league, not to mention how much I loathe mismatched home and road sets. Thanks again for the C&C! I can always count on you two to give me some helpful feedback.
  18. After yet another long stretch of classes and little motivation, I've got a few updates to share. First up is Jacksonville. I've been pretty much happy with Jacksonville so far since my last update, but the logo and font especially felt a bit lacking to me. So I redesigned the whole package around the same logo and uniform ideas, this time with darker, stormier colors, a much better font, and a redesigned set of uniforms, partially inspired by the late St. Louis XFL team. For New York, I modified the logo set to feel a bit more sturdy and to fit better on a helmet, and redesigned the font and uniforms. Cincinnati gets an updated logo, with a custom font and a more unique C-shamrock logo. Uniforms are still a work in progress. Arizona gets updated pants and helmet striping, based on southwestern native patterns, tweaked colors for a bit more pop, and a vibrant, shimmery orange helmet. Chicago gets an updated uniform set, with standardized striping patterns now extending to the collar and cuffs, a flag patch instead of an alternate logo, and an updated wordmark and number font. Winnipeg gets an updated uniform set, aiming for a semi-traditional look with a more timeless number font and a more striking shade of blue. Lastly, here's the uniform set for Vancouver. I'm still having trouble with a logo, but I'm really happy with how this set will work for the team. Largely inspired by @nate.sweitz's Ravens concept, with shimmery feather patterns and gradients found throughout the set. That's all I have for now. As for the rest of the league, I'm working on updates for a handful of teams, including Miami, New Orleans, Las Vegas, Montréal, Detroit, San Francisco, and maybe Denver. I can't be sure when I'll be able to get most of the updates and new teams done, as I now have summer classes for the next month and a busy summer between family plans and work. For now, though, I hope you enjoy this batch of updates. Made in Affinity Designer. C&C appreciated.
  19. I prefer the Jets new set as well. They're certainly not the best, but the previous felt incredibly boring to me, especially with the bland green color and the blocky shoulder striping. It just feels a bit too old to work for me. The new set, however, especially with the brighter green, feels much more modern and actually does something to evoke the jet mascot. I'm not a huge fan of the triangle stripes, but they're fine as is. I think double stripes that cut off at angles would look much better, saving some semblance of tradition while retaining the motion that the current triangles offer. That, and the black number strokes need to go.
  20. As traditional as it is, I've got to disagree. I feel like I've mentioned this several times already, but it should really be Brown/Orange/Brown. on the all white combo, it makes the pants clash with the jerseys, which are B/O/B/O/B, dark surrounding light. would it look much better? Not really, but it would definitely be more consistent and stick out less.
  21. Whenever the Patriots redesign their uniforms again, I hope they start here. Something about this uniform just works for me. The massive shoulder logos need to go and the font could stand to be modernized, but the subtle vertical stripes on the jerseys and the double stripe on the pants work really well. I was playing Madden '10 with a friend a few weeks ago, and played with this set (though madden changed it to the current navy and red for whatever reason) and it looked amazing. Unironically one of my favorite looks in the Pats' history, though I feel like they've never had a truly great look.
  22. Only ones I see that work at all or make any kind of sense are the Niners and Lions, if either team really wanted to play up the metallic color theme and spit on a combined 150+ years of history. But, since chrome is another one of those elements that is only done for the fire/snowflake emojis; it's best if the NFL keeps their distance.
  23. I'd be fine if the Cardinals changed to something similar to this redesign by Mark Omlor. The red helmet strays from tradition, but it looks great. It ties in the Arizona Flag, uses a traditional design with a slight modern flair, and the single color logo looks surprisingly good.
  24. I've got the uniforms and wordmarks down, but as per usual, the logos are the hard part. I've cycled through a handful of ideas but none of them have stuck with me. I have a certain look in mind, it's just a matter of creating it.
  25. I'm all for this. Something about wideouts and DBs in single digits/teens feels much more aesthetically pleasing. It may or may not contribute to me like college football over the NFL in terms of excitement and good vibes.
