  1. Seems like a downgrade to me. I get that Rutgers sucked major eggs in the current threads but there wasn't anything bad or gimmicky there. This set looks just as plain and unremarkable as it did 15 years ago.
  2. Progress on Vancouver and KC has stalled, but I've still been working away. I've made another new uniform template and a more efficient logo slick, and I've been going back through all the teams and updating them as needed. So here are a few updates, some big, some small, all much better in my book. Houston Voyagers: Probably the final update. Swapped out the block font for a NASA inspired font, utilized white for a bit more pop, and updated the uniforms. Indiana Checkers: Changed the name from Indianapolis to Indiana, as I felt like it represented the state as a whole more than just Indianapolis. The grey is slightly lighter, the logo is no longer skewed upward, The I is a more standard block, the state outline has been cleaned up, and the flames are more defined. I really like the more subtle checker pattern, so I'm keeping the grey how it is. I find any lighter shade to be too garish for what I'm going for. Philadelphia Cannons: Redesigned the cannons, updated the badge, added a liberty bell secondary logo, and added some collar striping. Toronto Lakers: Updated the rope pattern and anchor, and made the subtle CN tower more accurate to the real building. Moved the rope striping from the shoulders to the collar, and the shoulders are now capped with maple leaves. Also, I'm watermarking my work from here on out. I found some random fictional league wiki that used some of my logos without credit so I'm going to be a bit more cautious from now on. That's all I have for now. Made in Affinity Designer. C&C appreciated.
  3. Everything in this thread is extremely well done. The badges, kits, everything looks amazing. You've done an amazing job in this thread.Bravo.
  4. I'd agree here. The logos and colors aren't spectacular, but the fonts, uniforms, and web identity, and apparel are top-notch. Ben Barnes and his team have done an amazing job for them.
  5. As much as Mardi Gras colors fit New Orleans, I prefer the purple and old gold. It's a beautiful color scheme that is criminally underutilized.
  6. Wow. That's a lot of work you've done here. All of this is amazing. Huge fan of the tournament style postseason and geographical divisions. I would love to argue about which teams deserve spots more, but I can tell teams were omitted and included based solely on location, which is a difficult business to sort out. Amazing work.
  7. Washington looks amazing! The shift from native to DC imagery feels really smooth and the uniforms are easily an improvement over the current threads. The home could use more white and the away could use a little more gold but still looks great without it. Great job!
  8. Honestly not sure why I didn't do that. It works so much better. Thanks for the suggestion!
  9. Finished Nashville and a bunch of updates. Nashville Rhythm: This one took too many revisions and failed ideas to count, but I'm finally happy with it. I wanted something classy and fun, so I leaned on an amazing script font by BombasType. I prioritized a trumpet but kept six thin stripes to reflect guitar strings. The uniforms have simpler stripes and the script wordmark on the helmets. The guitar string stripes arch over the shoulders. San Diego Admirals: Name switched from captains to admirals. Added a stencil font, an SD monogram, and a nautical compass to the badge. Uniforms are updated accordingly. Cincinnati Shamrocks: Widened the block C and created a badge around it. Uniforms have updated striping. London Knights: Redesigned the shield and swords, updated the crown, and redesigned the font. Uniforms are more traditional and consistent. New Orleans Corsairs: Promoted the crossed swords/fleur-de-lis mark to the primary and redesigned the uniforms to have a more mardi-gras and piratey vibe. Dallas Outlaws: Tweaked the hat to look more like a cowboy hat. That's all I have for now, only Kansas City and Vancouver left. Made in Affinity Designer. C&C appreciated.
  10. While not quite as egregious as Native-American imagery, the fighting irish logo is certainly stereotypical, and potentially harmful. Stereotypical depiction of any race or people is racist. I feel like you could still use the name but lean more toward other imagery to avoid stereotypical depictions of a culture. Honoring the culture of a nation or tribe is all cool to me as long as there are no offensive imagery or names involved. As a user over on Brand New put it; 'No one wants to see their race, gender, or creed evoked to sell product.'
  11. I can't be sure, as Vancouver, KC, and Nashville aren't anywhere close to being done. Dallas was only a minor tweak that will get posted in the next round of concepts. I'm glad you're looking forward to my designs!
  12. I did originally intend for them to be called the buckeyes, but I had trouble making a good buckeye mark. I may revisit it again, but I'll stick with Oaks for now. That's a top-notch idea you've got there, but I'm happy with the way Vegas looks. I spent a lot of time cycling through nicknames and imagery before deciding on this look, and I really like how it turned out. I'd love to see a Vegas concept with the look you're describing.
  13. Finished up Detroit along with a bevy of updates and a new league logo. The new league logo is simplified, taller, and sleeker. Retains the two halves divided by the white stripes. Conference logos are the upper and lower halves of the badge. Detroit Mechanics: Standard Detroit automotive team with a more unique name. Font and uniforms are classy but bold and blocky, and the stripes on the helmet and pants are a nod to the Lions. Tried a lot of directions for Detroit but ended up here. Las Vegas Gamblers: I wasn't happy with anything for the venom, so I started over with everything but the colors. Logo reflects poker chips, roulette wheels, and cards, all staples of the gambling industry, with the iconic Las Vegas star taking the spotlight. The wordmark also takes cues form the sign. Seattle Emeralds: Ditched double green, opting instead for gem-inspired beveling on both green and white. The beveling is also placed throughout the uniforms. Minnesota Lumberjacks: Removed white form the color scheme, added plaid to the axes, and updated the font. Uniforms are redesigned with plaid in the striping. Jacksonville Cyclones: I wasn't happy with blue and black, so I opted for double blue instead. Overused, I know, but it works really well. Font is redesign again. Uniforms are updated with better hurricane flag stripes. That's all I've got for now. Only a few teams left. Made in Affinity Designer. C&C appreciated.
  14. White numbers definitely look better. I think simplifying the collar design would vastly improve the set, but it's still a nice looking bunch of uniforms.
  15. No, I'm having a lot of trouble with them. I'm not 100% sure on anything for Detroit yet. I'd be open to suggestions.
  16. No matter the reasoning behind the change, it looks better. It stuck out against the smoothness of the rest of the sword and the beveling made it look clunky. It's an upgrade to me.
  17. Finished up Atlanta and a few updates. Atlanta Swarm: Pays tribute to the honeybee's status as state insect, with a peach and charcoal color scheme, hexagon patterns, and an alternate beehive ATL logo. San Francisco Trolleys: Decided to ditch the Stellers moniker in favor of a more common sight in the area. Color scheme and font stays the same. Los Angeles Waves: Powder blue and orange is the new color scheme, uniforms are redesigned. That's all I have for now. Only 3 teams and 2 updates left. Made in Affinity Designer. C&C appreciated.
  18. Finished up 2 new teams this week. Cleveland Oaks: While I'm not that happy with the name, I found the concept and colors to suit Cleveland well. Logo is a repurposed version of a logo I made for a client. Uniforms striping reflects the ring and wordmark. Arizona Thunderbirds: Ignore the above post, this turned out way better than what I initially planned. Honors the native population in Arizona, more specifically the Navajo tribe. Logo is an based of a southwestern thunderbird design I found on google. Navajo patterns adorn the helmet and pants, while the Arizona flag sits on the shoulders. the thunderbird usually seems to face left, so I decided to not flip it on the helmets. And here's an updated team/division list. Only 4 cities left, and 4 updates to existing teams needed. That's all for now. Made in Affinity Designer. C&C appreciated.
  19. I'm not much of a hockey fan, much less minor-league, but I love everything about this. It does a great job of making their own identity while keeping the ties to the parent team obvious. The H feels natural, the horse is immediately recognizable, and the filigree is a nice detail. Easily one of my favorite looks in the AHL.
  20. I wanted something more unique, and I feel that the coral looks better. I have decided on names and color schemes for all of those teams, but i'm having trouble with the logos. In case you're wondering, the teams are Atlanta Express in peach and black, Vancouver Huskies in teal and navy, and Arizona Firebirds in vermillion, plum, and various shades of orange and yellow.
  21. I'd agree. As iconic as the Jumpman logo is, if MJ knew it would be on other sports uniforms, he should've gone with something else to be his logo, or at least have another logo for other sports. Though I feel it might be Nike placing it everywhere.
  22. Finally finished another new team. Also added a few updates. Portland Millers: Honors the lumber industry in the Pacific Northwest. I wanted to add flannel or wheat field patterns somehow, but it didn't work out. Portland flag is used in the logo and on the helmet striping. Montréal Monarchs: Redesigned logo. Looks more like a crown, added a maple leaf, and made the fortifications more obvious. Uniforms now have contrasting collar and sleeve cuffs with yellow stripes. Boston Mariners: I gotta stop updating this team but i'm never happy with it. (Probably because it'd be the team I root for.) Made the purple less blue, switched from sky blue to powder, made another new font, and changed the uniform striping. I also made updates to San Diego and St. Louis' uniforms. For the Captains, I changed the striping to be more consistent and to look better on all backgrounds, and squared out the font. For St. Louis, I changed the colors to wine and copper to better reflect roman armor, and swapped out the meander striping for the secondary logo on the sleeves. That's all for now. Made in Affinity Designer. C&C appreciated.
  23. I'm finally back with another round of concepts. A few updates and 2 new teams for today. Philadelphia Cannons: Complete overhaul. New colors, uniforms, and logo shape. Ditched the forced keystone in favor of 13 stars around the crest. Alternate is supposed to be a 30s faxback, though i'm not sure how well it works. Denver Mountaineers: Crest is now much shorter, swapped out the pickaxes for climbing axes, added some mountains to the striping, and made a simplified crest for the helmet logo. Miami Tropics: New name, logo and color scheme. A less garish but still quintessentially Florida color scheme, and more traditional uniforms. Pittsburgh Iron: I'm not too happy with this, but it works well enough. We don't really need more metalworking industry teams for Pittsburgh, but this one has bridge striping. Kansa City Wranglers: I don't really have a primary logo yet, (mostly because steer heads - what I would have as a primary - are hard to draw) but I definitely like this KC monogram, and I really liked the way the font and uniforms turned out. That's all I have for now. I'd love some C&C on the newer teams. Made in Affinity Designer. C&C appreciated.
  24. Honestly I prefer the rebrand. The current look screams late 2000s to me.
  25. Stockpiled some concepts during my hiatus. I've got two new teams and three updates. Let's start with the updates. San Antonio Marshals: Changed the badge shape to fit better, replaced the 5-point star with a 6-point, and swapped out the black for a dark brown to give off a more western feel. Uniforms are updated accordingly, with a bit of gold trim added to the sleeve cuffs and collar. Ottawa Grey Jays: Streamlined the logo and colors and changed the font. Uniforms updated accordingly. Lumières du Québec: Fixed some stroke inconsistencies and rotated the aurora striping. Uniforms have updated striping. Flag alternate is booted. And the new teams... New York Towers: Honors the captivating New York skyline, emphasizing the art deco style used on several famous buildings. Uniforms are fairly traditional. Dallas Outlaws: References the history of thievery and swindling in the western frontier. Big rivals with San Antonio. That's all I have ready right now. I've names down for all teams except Nashville, if you guys have any ideas. I don't know how long it will be before I'll have more concepts ready, and there are a few teams I want to update (primarily Denver and Philly), but I'm pretty close to the series' end. This series has been a great challenge and joy to me in many ways so far. Made in Affinity Designer. C&C appreciated.
