  1. I don't love black in either of those palettes. The black only really works with the copper and the yellow, but not the purple or light blue. I'm curious if they ever said what they were going for with the current look. Without any context, I actually like it, it's just so ridiculous for the Jazz to be wearing it. Off the top of my head, I can't think of a black and yellow NBA team (which, if true, is a shame) but maybe someone could pull off that look a little bit better. Maybe the next time the Hawks lose their minds, they can try it (they'd have to abandon red though, or at least relegate it to one of the 32 alts they'll have.)
  2. I'm not sure that's always true. I'm still holding my breath for silver helmets (either throwback wings in solid midnight green, or midnight green trimmed in black, or the current wings but with midnight green swapped in for the silver), midnight green jerseys, and shiny silver pants. With or without black.
  3. im a purist and like dark pants / monochrome looks (in some cases). I hate 80% of the CCs, but not always for that reason. dark pants have roots as far back as the sport itself.
  4. I think this is an unpopular opinion, but I could be mistaken.. I'm sure people complained when it went from 14 to 16, just like some (including me) pushed back on 16 to 17 and 17 to 18. Going from 16 to 18 is the same as MLB going from 162 to 182, or NBA going from 84 to 95. That's not insignificant. I want every game to be relatively critical (which the extra playoff team has also affected) and for players to have a chance to be not be broken down by the grind. If you're a WC team, then you're potentially playing 22 games in 24 weeks. That's a lot of football. Too much, in my humble opinion.
  5. Ironically, O'Hoppe was a top prospect from the Phillies system that was being held on to be part of a potential package for Trout, before they panicked and swapped him for Brandon Marsh (which turned out to be a win/win.) Assuming the Sixers get beat tonight, Mike Trout is the Joel Embiid of baseball. Among the greatest talents of all time, incredible numbers, no playoff success* and ultimately too injured to make a lasting impact on their sports. *Embiid at least has playoff appearances, and stats that are amazing, but the team has accomplished nothing... just like Trout.
  6. The week before the SB isn't going anywhere. Moving the season up is a non-starter. It'll be tight to add a second bye and an 18th game, but that's what the jerks are going to try and do. I already think that 17 devalues the games, and the 7th playoff team devalues the playoffs (let alone takes away the bye for the 2 seed, but I get that some people may think it was unfair to begin with.) But it's happening, and there's nothing any of us can do about it. We're not going to stop watching and not going to stop paying. Even a Labor Day weekend game, I'm sure places would still sell out, even if it's mostly resale tix.
  7. am I the only one that sees eyes and a mildly-sinister face and not a ray or bridge?
  8. The plan would be to play it on Presidents' day, to capitalize on the 3-day weekend that a lot of people have. I HATE HATE HATE that idea, because 1) it completely devalues the meaning of the holiday (though it's basically been about applaince and furniture sales anyway), but more importantly, 2) it's a big travel time for many people. I almost always get a ski house rental for the long weekend, and I'm sure that it's extremely common for people to get out of town for long weekends. NFL should avoid Labor Day and any other long-weekend holiday. In theory I get it, and I'd certainly love a free day off after an Eagles SB, but realistically those are so few and far between that I'll deal with using PTO.
  9. I don't see why it matters, as long as the template isn't forcing teams into a non-trivial design change. Back in the not-so-distant past, teams would have players in different templates on the field at the same time, and while there were only a few variants, only the Broncos (I think) were really locked into a particular one. It's hard to see here, but here's a game used Brian Dawkins jersey in a Broncos-ish cut (note the curve of the side gusset and the angle at which the seam connects to the collar. While in the minority, he was not the only player to wear this style, so I don't think there's anything custom about it: Here's another one: and another one: Here's another 2007, game-worn jersey. I know the other examples were all white, but the majority of white ones from that era are the "normal" template, just couldn't find any game-worn ones to show good images from. Here's another from the same '06 season as the Dawkins one from above (note the patch). Also interesting is that these have another seam that runs up around the numbers - I thought it was custom, but since so many have it, maybe it wasn't? That's a detail I'm sure I'd remember if it was prevalent, but maybe I was slipping back then. NINJA EDIT: I'm seeing more and more white ones in that style, and not many green ones, so maybe there was some reason for that - definitely not all white ones, but a lot more white than green had that cut. Here's a 07 image with white jerseys in the "normal" cut (weird that Kolb has the 06 patch while McNabb does not) It appears that for '07, some guys wore '06 jerseys with the patch applied.
  10. Have NFL players been complaining about materials or templates? I’d wager that most of them think the designs are , and the changes in templates / tailoring are, while IMO unnecessary, at worst benign (to players - I hate the big V seam on the current model).
  11. If only Trea Turner was Nick Castellanos:
  12. I don’t really care about anything other than bringing back the Phillies chain stitching.
  13. The colors on that uniform are so hard to judge because they could look extremely different whether in daylight, in a closed dome, or an open-roofed night game.
  14. Interesting that they specifically call out the pants zipper. Out of all of the complaints, hadn't heard that one yet. I have questions.
  15. If you don't get the real one, I'll give you the bootleg PoTD strap for this one.
  16. Would Utahns prefer a purple/blue scheme over a red rocks scheme? If they're going generic, then either one of these (with black or very dark red pants) would make for cool temporary sweaters (keep the UTAH, just lose the number.). The black-based one gave me Flames vibes at first, but now that they've gone "classic", I think it'd be fine. I think the striping could work on a long-sleeved jersey, but would need to see a mockup.
  17. I think you are correct, and they license it out. AEW Wrestling on TNT/TBS has rights to it for some reason.
  18. Oh they’re definitely basically the same logo. But given both teams have military-ish themes, I would assume that’s a common design style found in that world, though I can’t say for sure.
  19. LOL that's the last bracket the Braves want to see!
  20. Technically different owners, even though same family. At least I'm pretty sure they were not drafted by the same Rooney. It was pretty touching, once Jeff Lurie got on the phone to talk to him, as his mother had recently passed away, and Lurie had grown close to their family over the years, knowing him from the time he was born. The Eagles frustratingly don't seem to care about the LB position, but I hope so much that he's good and can stick with the team. I don't wear jerseys, and only own 4, ranging from 1991 - 2008. Jeremiah Trotter is one of those 4. I'm so happy that they got Jr, even if I've never actually seen him play and don't know if it was a legit pick or a "let's do his dad a solid" pick.
  21. It's a fair argument, and there's nothing I could ever say to disparage how good Larkin was. I'm old enough to have watched him play a lot of games, and he's a deserving HOFer. Looking closer on Baseball Reference, Larkin has better hall credentials using their systems, and it's a little more tilted in his favor than I thought, with the best argument being that for at least some period of time, he was the top SS, whereas Rollins was maybe a little overlooked in an era where there were other stars at the position and the "eye test" became a little devalued as analytics started to make things a little more calculated, without regard for intangibles. They each have an MVP, Rollins was the catalyst of a team that won 5 divisions and a WS (though Larkin has a WS as well, but not nearly the playoff accolades), Rollins is the all-time hit leader for a team nearly as old as the Reds, and I think his intangibles should get him in, even if just barely. I think a case against Rollins is that he was on a team of superstars, with potential HOFer Chase Utley next to him, and Ryan Howard - who seemed destined for the HOF and 500+HR before tearing his achilles against the Cardinals - next to Utley. He had a lot more around him than Larkin did, but he really the player who "drove" them from the doldrums of the early 00s to the peaks of the late 00s/early 10s. I can't remember off the top of my head who the other great SSs were in that era, so I can't say for sure if he was the best fielder, but he was outstanding, and may have been the best ("only" has 4 GGs tho). They won while Utley, Howard, and others were on the DL, but had a rough during the one period that Rollins missed significant time.
  22. That's cool, to each their own. Back when I was in to hockey, I really disliked when all Flyers home games became basically black and white television due to their mono-black uniforms, with the only colors coming from the visiting team's pants. I also found teams like the Maple Leafs to have inferior home uniforms to road, given the dominance of the mono-blue, vs the nice balance of blue details on the white sweater with blue pants. Same goes for every other team that has matching sweater/pants. Flyers games became much more palatable once they adopted the orange throwback jersey as their home look, as they were no longer monchrome, but I'd still rather the white be home. I don't feel nearly as strongly about NBA uniforms, though I still prefer white, and back when I had season tickets in the pre-process era, it was cool to see different visiting colors every game.
  23. In sports where the traditional look is tops that are the same color as bottoms, WAH looks best to me. There’s not many nba or nhl teams that have better dark looks than they do white ones imo.
  24. Search feature. It's never been good, and it never will be. You do a search, and it returns x pages of results. If you don't get what you want on the fist page, and click another page, you get "you must wait # seconds before running another search." FFS - why do the search results show you that there's multiple pages, if you can't actually view them in less than a week? I'm not b-tching at the mods - I know it's just the forum software - but it's gear grinding, and dissuades anyone from using the search "feature".
