raz
So the Sun Bowl just started on CBS and the intro graphics prominently featured saguaro cactuses, because, you know, all deserts are the same. But saguaro cactuses are features of the Sonora desert (up through Arizona), and El Paso is in the Chihuahuan desert, which features yuccas and creosote. C'mon, CBS. Do better. 2
GDAWG
There are too many bowls to begin with including bowls with 5-7 teams in it, which is not right.
raz
I don't disagree, but the Sun Bowl has been around since 1936(?), and CBS has been broadcasting it for 50+ years, so they should have some idea about where it is! 2

That’s interesting. I saw the saguaros and it didn’t seem out of place to me because the Sun Bowl has basically become ASU’s barely eligible bowl game (which they usually are most years), so it just seemed to fit! The state of Texas is to blame as well because we have it on road signs and other items that promote the state of Texas. Prickly pear and barrell cactus make more sense. MJWalker45
Watching Missouri beat Ohio State, and I have to say I've never seen a group of broadcasters complaining about a play that was blown dead in the first quarter, all the way into the fourth quarter. I know this game was proof that some teams will just show up and cash the check, but until Missouri went ahead they treated it like it was the greatest disservice ever. Unfortunately we don't have a mascot to murder after this non showing by Ohio State's offensive line.
GDAWG
Teams with 5-7 and 6-6 records in bowl games isn't right. I think to be bowl eligible, a team has to win 7 games, not 6.

Like it's going to be weird seeing the NFC South winner being under .500 for the second year in a row if its expected that going 8-9 will win the NFC South. It's not the postseason in the light of playoffs or championships though. The bowl games are just filler games used to build up more money for programs and sponsors. At this point, we already have too many so on a competing standpoint, it's just a hollow exhibition.

Essentially taking four teams out of the rotation. The four first round losers aren't bowl eligible? Either way, if they aren't, that puts 12 teams playing a total of 6 bowl games (4 quarterfinals and two semifinals). Which is the same adjustment as 4 teams playing in two bowls today (national championship is its own game). You'd still net the same number of bowls to team ratio. Yes. But the quarterfinals and semifinals will be at bowls. 12 teams taking up 6 bowls. No way a school gives up a home game to play a bowl site.
