DETROIT TIGERS HOME: ROAD: HOME ALT: ROAD ALT: CITY CONNECT: Notes: - A historically alternate-averse club, Detroit is the first team in this project to get not one but two new alternates: an orange home alt featuring the script from the team’s current wordmark logo and an inverted version of their home jersey for away games. This would offer the team an orange option at home and a navy-only option on the road. - Front numbers are added to the home top for consistency with the other jerseys. - The white trim is dropped from the team’s road set to produce a cleaner look akin to the team’s 1952-57 away jersey. - I wanted to address the biggest (and most legitimate) criticisms of Detroit's newly unveiled City Connect design: the total lack of orange and horrible cap logo. The TV numbers and tire tape pattern on the sleeves and pants are therefore recolored orange, and the "DETROIT" wordmark on the cap is replaced with the tiger eye "headlights" that appear above the jersey's jock tag. Shoutout to @Victormrey for helping out with the tread pattern! C&C appreciated as always! 3 3
Victormrey
Perfect set for the Tigers! The tweaks made to the main set are really clever and improve their current look. I'm glad for having helped with the CC graph! I think the orange really pops on the navy base, and that cap is a beauty 1

TAMPA BAY RAYS HOME: ROAD: HOME ALT: ROAD ALT: CITY CONNECT: Notes: - I think most would agree that after 16+ seasons, the Rays’ current look has pretty much run its course. In contrast, the team’s Devil Rays throwbacks seem to be more popular than ever—as evident by their massive influence on the Rays’ newly-unveiled City Connect design. Given that those throwbacks are included in Tampa Bay’s 4+1 anyway, I figured it wasn’t much of a leap to promote that look to primary status again, with a few updates. - The above being said, I would like to see the return of the Rays’ ‘70s fauxbacks, as those uniforms made the best use of the team’s current navy/Columbia blue/sunshine yellow color scheme of anything they’ve worn. The fauxback therefore returns and becomes the new home alternate. - The biggest criticism of Tampa Bay’s City Connect has been the illegibility of the wordmark and numbers, which I’ve addressed by recoloring in a solid gradient. The St. Pete pelican/palm tree logo also replaces the sunburst on the left sleeve. - I honestly didn’t expect the City Connect design to go all-in on the original gradient, which prompted me to actually “tone down” my previous updates to the home and road by replacing the gradient-colored numbers with solid purple and white ones. C&C appreciated! Its a shame that the actual city connects lose the numbers and wordmark if youre looking at them from a distance. Your tweak made them perfect, btw how awesome is that Skateray logo

Agreed, though just about anything would be an improvement over their actual City Connect cap. CHICAGO CUBS HOME: ROAD: HOME ALT: ROAD ALT: CITY CONNECT: Notes: - With their blue tops becoming the team’s de facto road alternate in recent years, I worked up a new home alt that combines the team’s home and road uniforms from 1909. - The Cubs are, IMO, long overdue for an update to both their road set and blue alternate, so I looked to the past for both, restoring the team’s classic 1960s road look (with added front numbers) and tweaking their blue alt to better resemble the North Siders’ 1980s road jersey. - The red-billed cap returns and becomes the team’s new primary cap. - The City Connect is now a very Wrigley green version of the team’s actual design, with a bit more red added throughout. CLEVELAND GUARDIANS HOME: ROAD: HOME ALT: ROAD ALT: CITY CONNECT: Notes: - The Guardians’ identity is decent enough, but I’ve always found their uniforms to be a bit lacking. Therefore, I added TV numbers across the board, along with different piping on the home and home alt and additional collar trim on the road and road alt. - I like Cleveland’s City Connect, and while I LOVE the use of racing stripes, I’m not convinced they work on a uniform without a matching jersey and pants. I wanted to go monochrome, and since black and navy are played out at this point, I decided to go all-in on the sandstone color from the “CLE” wordmark. - Creme replaces plain white on the front panel of the cap and within the racing stripes and wordmark. This is an interesting rebrand decision here for the Rays, they keep the "Rays" name but they go back to their Devil Rays color scheme and logos, giving this a very 2000s feel, but also very colorful.

Thanks! I love those original Devil Rays uniforms, but the inclusion of black when they could have used dark purple as their base color was unnecessary. Then again, this was at the peak of the Black for Black's Sake trend, so it's not surprising. ST. LOUIS CARDINALS HOME: ROAD: HOME ALT: ROAD ALT: CITY CONNECT: Notes: - Not long ago, the Cardinals had one of the strongest, cleanest identities in MLB. But in recent years, it’s gotten a bit muddled. I tried to remedy this by replacing the “Victory Blues” with a new navy road alt and making the Sunday home alt a straight throwback to the team’s 1942 look which, in addition to being off-white with T-bars, also featured a navy-crowned cap and different bird-on-the-bat jersey design. - The road jersey now uses the “St. Louis” script from the Sunday alternate. - Since St. Louis played it safe with their City Connect, I did the same with my tweak, going all-in on the flag motif. As much as I love the wavy pinstripes idea, I think white/blue/white trim based on the flag is more distinct and would certainly be more visible on the field. - “The Lou” is being mocked mercilessly online—both due to its phonetic similarity to the British slang for a toilet, and because apparently no one living in St. Louis actually calls it that—so I went with the 1920-21 arched “St. Louis” wordmark that inspired the cap “STL.” - The cap now mimics the sleeve patch with its combination Fleur-de-lis/Arch logo. I figured a white front panel would help dispel criticisms that it’s too similar to the team’s everyday cap. C&C appreciated!

MIAMI MARLINS HOME: ROAD: HOME ALT: ROAD ALT: CITY CONNECT: Notes: - Now that they’ve introduced a long-needed blue alternate, the Fish didn’t really need to be included in this project. Still, I figured I’d share my tweaks to the team's current look. - The update to Miami's road alt certainly helped improve legibility, but the color balance is still off. A good compromise, IMO, would be for the Marlins to emphasize blue at home and black on the road. To that end, a blue-crowned cap is introduced to go along with a tweaked version of their new alternate (essentially last year’s Spring Training jersey) and the script on the road alt is now blue rather than white. - Front numbers are added across the board to give each jersey a more complete look. The black numbers on the home jersey are meant to evoke this design. - With their primary jerseys now more blue-dominant, the City Connect is recolored in a very Dolphins-esque teal & orange color scheme, which would hopefully satisfy the OG Florida Marlins fans out there. C&C appreciated, and happy Memorial Day weekend! 3
BlueMoon18
God that city connect looks so much better in the Dolphins colors to me. Not that the actual city connect is bad, but the pink they used was distracting. Like, VERY distracting. Now that was an elite alternation! While I do like the idea you did with the blue M on the road cap, most still wouldn't be able to see the fish. I suggest making that either blue or pink (preferably pink) to fix that issue. Other than that, this is good work!
Paul Lucas
Oh man, oh man. That Marlins City in Dolphin colors is *chef’s kiss*! Only thing I’d change about that set is the rear numbers on the home to match the wordmark and maybe contrasting the front numbers on the black for set consistency. With that said, I wish Nike/MLB would adapt all these changes…excellent work throughout. P.S. Thank you for fixing the Tigers home & road.

The black numbers on the back of the home jersey were just an oversight on my part, so I've gone back and fixed that in my previous post. I also flipped the colors of the script and numbers on the road. Also, did you mean the blue alt in your second comment? Because the script and numbers on the black alt do contrast. ANAHEIM ANGELS HOME: ROAD: HOME ALT: ROAD ALT: CITY CONNECT: Notes: - With the Halos needing a fourth jersey, I introduced a new navy road alt with navy-crowned cap and subsequently cranked up the level of navy across the board, most notably on the home/road cap. - The Angels made some small but unusual tweaks to their uniforms this season by adding and removing silver drop shadows to their wordmarks and numbers, resulting in lots of inconsistency. To simplify things, I removed the drop shadows and silver altogether (except on the City Connect), leaving navy as the only trim color. - I’ve never been big on Anaheim’s red-on-red alternates (or any script/wordmark on the same-colored jersey, for that matter) so the home alt now uses navy wordmarks & numbers trimmed in white. - “Anaheim” returns to the road uni, and all four non-City Connect jerseys now feature triple piping on the sleeves, collar and pants. - The halo in the wordmarks and cap logo is gold again, just as God intended. - The City Connect goes unchanged. C&C appreciated!
