Great, another theoretical realignment thread.

"It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the

press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of

speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us

the freedom to demonstrate. And it is the soldier who salutes the

flag, serves beneath the flag, whose coffin is draped by the flag, and

who allows the protester to burn the flag."

Where did the Beavers (AAA) go?

im assuming that since he gave Portland a Major League team, that the Beavers were disbanded

I figured but then who is San Diego's new farm team? Or am I just not reading the list close enough?

Class AAA

International League Central = Hartford, Pawtucket, Providence, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre

Pawtucket AND Providence? They border each other. McCoy Stadium in Pawtucket is less than 5 miles from downtown Providence and the Dunkin' Donuts Center.

I'd put a team in Worcester, not Providence. Not with Pawtucket right there. You may as well put two competing teams in the same city.

Great Plains League Southern Division = Dodge City, Emporia, Kansas City, Lawrence, Manhattan

I know for a Fact that Emporia, Manhattan, and Lawrence have had Minor League teams at one time.

Topeka in the Texas League.......

Well I emailed them about that chance, and they said that would be next to impossible due to Franchise costs and Affiliates.

It's a nice thought though.

Evidently replaced by a new Vancouver team.

So then what happened to the Canadians, the Oakland A affiliate that is in Nat Bailey now?

I'm just going to give up.

Bay City, Michigan has been rumored to be joining the Midwest League in a few years once a new stadium is built. I haven't heard anything new about that recently though, so I'm not sure if that plan fell through or what.

International League Central = Pawtucket, Providence

You do realize that the cities of Pawtucket, Rhode Island and Providence, Rhode Island are contiguous, right? That the Pawtucket Red Sox are considered Providence's team? Hell... the PawSox are considered the Triple-A home team for pretty much all of Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts.

Bottom line? This specific expansion idea would never fly for a variety of reasons... including the fact that an affiliated minor-league team (at any level) in Providence (or Worcester, for that matter) would violate Pawtucket's territorial claims. Further, a team in Hartford, CT would infringe on the territory of the New Britain Rock Cats.
