Backs to the wall..Can Carpenter take them back to Busch for one more chance or is the next visit the demolation crew

Is this more the curse of Denkinger and tarps running over Coleman and Matheny cutting his hand with a hunting knife and Tudor breaking his hand and Big Mac falling apart and Taveras breaking his hand and Ankiel going wild and Lawless hitting cleanup and Andujar imploding and LaRussa and Edmonds getting tossed

Or Ozzie's home run and Enos going from first to home

Backs to the wall

Or how about the Cardinals are cursed with bad managing. LaRussa is the most overratted manager in Baseball history. How many times had he takin a team to the World Series with the best record in baseball and have lost in 5 games or less? Right 3 times, swept twice. This with 2 different franchises so you can't just say the players were underachievers.

perhaps if the cardinals lineup would hit the damn ball with runners on we wouldn't have this problem.

i wish the cardinals would quite screwing around and beat the astros senseless and shut up those annoying fans and that stupid bee sound.

Don't dare say anything about a curse. How many times do we make fun of Cubs fans for the Billy Goat Curse? The Tarp curse is just the lamest one of them all.

I don't think tony la Russa is overrated, I think something changes in teh playoffs. You can't argue with success in the regular season. But for some reason in recent years the offense has disapeared at key times. Whatever reason it is, it happens. I don't think its anything Tony's done.

I don't think you should call him overrated. You should recognize the job he did with all the injuries this year (we've forgotten the Cardinals were without their number 2 bat all year long) and putting guys nobody has heard of in during key situations where they would succeed, and it worked during the season.

I can't wait to hear people calling for Tony's head when he's the best manager the cardinals have had since Whitey by far. And we had a future hall of famer on the bench for 4 or 5 seasons.

LaRussa teams when they fall behind in the postseason fold, look at the 1988 World Series, 1990 World Series, 2000 NLCS, 2002 NLCS, and the 2004 World Series.

I for one will never call for tony's head, the success this organization has had with him at the helm would hardly be matched by anyone else. I think lack of execuation in the playoffs can only be blamed on the players themselves.

The Cardinals are the class of the NL, both historically and this year.

Their biggest issue is that they're built for the regular season. In short series, teams like the Astros can knock them off. The Astros are built for the playoffs - 3 killer starting pitchers, a tight bullpen, and clutch hitting. These are the teams that trip up the Cardinals, who play quality baseball all season because they're built for the grind of 162 games. If we were living in pre-1969 times, the Cardinals would've won a couple more World Series because they would not have had to get through a couple of playoff series where they're not set up to win.

They've still got the best uniforms in baseball, the best fans in baseball and a history that most teams would love to call their own. And a gleaming new stadium waiting for them in '06. It could always be worse.

"Start spreading the news... They're leavin' today... Won't get to be a part of it... In old New York..."

In order for the Mets' run of 12 losses in 17 games to mean something, the Phillies still had to win 13 of 17.

Albert Poo Holes.

Funny name, but the best player in the game.

He is the only MLBer currently playing who intimidates me while I am watching on the TV. He just looms over the plate in the batter's box like nobody else.

Yes, the Cardinals are certainly the class of AAAA League (aka NL) baseball.

They don't win when it counts, therefore they cannot be that good.

Any GM with half of a brain would have traded some of the St L offense knowing that it needed a bullpen to win the World Series. FACT: You need a bullpen to win the world series.

Their uniforms are above average, and the fanbase is strong, though they bring nothing to the field. They don't realize they should try to mentally attack the other team's players. It's why teams tend to win more at home. Visting teams fear the negative crowd noise.

Somebody please trade Arod to the Cardinals so they can win 120 games in the regular season next year, and get embarrased in the playoffs yet again.

fact: the cardinals have the best bullpen ERA amongst playoff teams.

fact: a team playing NL style ball won the AL crown this year.

A friendly, knowledgeable fan base brings in players that WANT to play in St. Louis instead of just want a bigger paycheck.

nice stab at walk jocketty but if any fan with half of a brain had been watching the LCS he would know that the cardinals pitching has not been the problem. Its their lack of clutch hitting with runners on.
