BigMac12
It's an okay arena. I just don't like that there's no hanging scoreboard.
Shmee
That's a mighty big casino just for slot machines... which, even in the proposal video, were mostly devoid of people. Not really feeling the arena, either. Roger Clemente
Centre 200 here in Sydney has a Casino built right into it (which itself is about half the size of the arena), even though the only public way to access from the inside is through the box office at the front of the building. It is this reason though that my father is extremely reluctant to go to a Cape Breton Screaming Eagles game. Junior hockey especially is supposed to be family oriented (especially considering most junior players are high school students) but has a strictly adult-oriented venue built into it. (Then again, they've always served beer-on-tap at the arena for at least the past 13 years.) But nobody except for my father actually seems to care about this fact.--Roger "Time?" Clemente. LMU
In all seriousness, if they can have slot machines all over the place at the Las Vegas and Reno airports, an arena in a casino shouldn't be a problem. Besides, the Connecticut Sun play in a casino, and I haven't heard too many complaints.
NJTank
Yeah Casinos are overated if theres no sports book there then it should not even be an issue, the hockey is a diffente entrance I woulds assume to begin with. www.sportsecyclopedia.com For the best in sports history go to the Sports E-Cyclopedia at http://www.sportsecyclopedia.com
winters in buffalo
The arena seems pretty bland. That seems like a pretty agressive development plan. Can Pittsburgh even come close to pulling that off? I thought the local economy was pretty crappy.
ZapRowsdower8
The beauty of the plan is that Isle of Capri pays for everything. The city pays for nothing. But Rendell, although he hasn't said it, is backing the Station Square/Harrahs plan becasue they gave money to his campaign. The Pens/Isle of Capri plan is clearly the best option. Not only does it build the city a free arena that they take control of after construction is complete but IoC has also pledged to donate hundreds of millions to the Hill District. (A neighborhood near downtown that has seen better days.)
