Kobe to change numbers next season?

Lets get it straight. Kobes number change has nothing to do with Michael Jordan. As I heard, Kobe wore #8 as a child playing ball in Italy and because he was in the ABCD (ABC?)134 camp (1+3+4=8). He wore 24 in High School and then swithed to #33 (as we see in many of his high school photos) to honor his father, Joe Bryant. He couldnt 33 because of Kareem-Abdul Jabbar retiring that number for the Lakers. All this "he trying to be better jordan so he wants to be 23+1" stuff is bogus. Get facts straight before you make assumptions.

College sports as we know them are just about dead. The lid is off on all the corruption that taints just about every major program and every decision that the schools or the NCAA make is only about money, money, and more money. We'll have three 16+ team super-conferences sooner rather than later, killing much of the regional flair and traditional rivalries that make college sports unique and showing the door to any school that doesn't bring money to the table in the process. Pretty soon the smaller schools are going to have to consider forming their own sanctioning body to keep the true spirit of college sports alive because the NCAA will only get worse in it's excess from here

All I can say is those damned Jeff Gordon fans have gotten to Kobe.

That was my second thought. My first thought was that Dale Earnhardt, Jr. commercial where he has a press conference to change his number from 8 to 6.7, only to be joking! "No harm done right?" -Jr.

All this "he trying to be better jordan so he wants to be 23+1" stuff is bogus. Get facts straight before you make assumptions.

Fact: Kobe is Jordan-obsessed. He said as much in early interviews.

Fact: Jordan changed his number.

Report: Kobe is changing his number.

OK, now that the facts are straight.

The "23+1" was not presented as a fact. It was a joke made by a Bulls fan, me. And I admit it wasn't even really that good. No assumptions here, just tired of the people saying Kobe is better than Jordan already. 6-3=3. 3-Shaq=0. Jordan-Luc=3. Jordan-Scottie=0. See, fun game.

Other "facts" you failed to rip from my post were the Nick Anderson (fact: he's retired), Henry Blanco (fact: He's a Cubs catcher and Kobe is not obsessed with him) and Jeff McInnis-0 (dsgitlin meant Gilbert Arenas) references.

Possible fact not yet proven: Kobe fans have an inferiority complex matched only by Kobe's inferiority complex with Jordan.

That's such crap. Who the hell's going to remember him as #24? No one. I don't think it'll last, right Michael Jordan's #45 jersey? Right!

I still remember Jordan wearing #12 and #4.

I remember 12, but when did he wear 4? Unless the 5 fell off his 45 jersey...

Search the internet for a player named "Johnny Kilroy". ;)

Save the slugalo.

Seriously, Kobe originally chose #8 because Mike D'Antoni was his favorite basketball player while he grew up in Italy. I read as much in Sports Illustrated.

Maybe he's had a tough series and no longer likes Mike D'Antoni.
