Alphabet Man
Why not have a tipping comp....The week before June 9 start, we will tip teams for the pool games in all groups, and the tie breaker will be a score tip to the opening match which is Germany v someone....after the pool rounds we wil ltip the second stage all the way to the final, no one gets elminated just pick who will win and you get a poitn for each one that is rightgood idea or bad idea? twitter.com/thebrainofMatt

DGivens87
yah and if it is like you just pick a team and thats it then im defineitely in and ill choose POrtugal Portuguese Pride! Although I am rooting for the US, I will be rooting on Portugal as well, as I am 50% Portuguese, and thus have to remain loyal to the motherland. I'm a bunch of other nationalities, but I am more Portuguese (nationality-wise) than anything else.Anyway, I'm in! Can someone post a bracket so I can select my picks?*EDIT - I just realized that there are no brackets in WC play...It's all pools. Sorry. I'm new to soccer. DGivens87
Ok, so if I'm getting this right, we pick one team to win it all - is that right? If so, I feel it's my duty to pick the US...regardless of the fact that although they've gotten better in the past 4 years, they're clearly not favored to win it all. No, we pick the winners of all 64 matches (read the first post again). So we start by picking the winners in the group stage. For example, group A:Germany V Costa RicaPoland V EcuadorGermany V PolandCosta Rica V EcuadorGermany V EcuadorCosta Rica V Poland
WJMorris3
I'm proposing that for all games, including the knockout stages, that we consider the games to be over at full-time.This would require that should England defeat Argentina on penalty kicks, one would have to have called for the match to be drawn to collect credit.I also propose the following scoring system:Group stages: 1 point per match, plus one point for each team correctly picked into the knockout stage. Picks would not need to be submitted for qualifying teams unless the results predicted result in two teams tied for 2nd, or another similar situation.Round of 16: 2 points per match.Round of 8: 5 points per match.Semifinals: 8 points per match.3rd place game: 12 points.Championship: 16 points.Perfect score would be 144 points. J.R.
How are we going to handle draws in the group stage? I say we're allowed to "tip" them and be awarded three points for getting it correctly.
Alphabet Man
you can tip a draw, ya get pointactually ithink we'll do it one poitn per right answer, a tiebreak is correctly predicitng time (to the minute) of the first goal of a deisgnated match (usually the first) twitter.com/thebrainofMatt
