A's blow it again

The problem with the Angels is that they've let this whole "best farm system in the majors" concept go to their heads. Sure, Napoli, Mathis, Saunders, Kendrick, Santana, McPherson, Willits, Bootcheck, etc. are good players. But when you're trying to field a team with known issues in terms of hitting and defense, you have to bite the bullet and give one of these players up to improve there.

With Colon slowly becoming the next Kerry Wood in terms of injuries, and with Garret not the player he used to be, I think it's about time to deal for Tejada, and maybe go after Soriano and Zito in free agency. Then possibly find a new left fielder and switch GA to DH.

Oakland is just an enigma though. I still have no clue how they managed to make it this far with some of the injuries they've had.

A's blew another chance to win the AL West. Seattle 10-9 in 10 innings. Does it really matter: they're going to get bounced from the first round anyway. I'm a A's fan but I still believe the Angels are a better team and should've won the AL West.

Your a liar. Your nowhere near being an A's fan. Seriously, show a litle faith before you claim to be a fan. Nothing out there annoys me more than when people have zero hope in their "favorite" team. <_<

But seriously, the A's are starting to make me nervous. I have tickets to the A's Angels game friday night and id like to go and gloat a little bit rather than worry that theres a division title on the line. But even so, being up 5 with 6 to go aint a bad spot. Oakland has blown some terrible leads in the past, but this is one that im confident we'll be able to hold onto.

I can't believe I'm rooting for Seattle right now(I guess there IS a first time for everything), but I was going nuts while I had the game on Gameday.

LMU, I did some reading on the fan forums on angelsbaseball.com, and apparently, they're going to be spending some money this offseason, possibly on Soriano, Tejada, Vernon Wells, or even A-Rod if he's available. I really hope they dump off McPherson, maybe even Colon. THey've got a solid rotation without Bartolo, and if he continues to struggle with his health, I don't see a reason to pay a guy that kind of money to be on the DL all season.

Thanks for sharing. I am loyal as they come. I go to 20-25 home games a year and I am as loud as anybody there rooting my team on. I'm just a realist. Call me a liar if you want but I really don't care what you think.

A realist? Come on man. Now if you really are a true fan than great, all the power to you. But seriously, your team is on the verge of clinching the AL West and you STILL have no faith that they can do anything in the playoffs? That is by far the worst attitude you can possibly take when it comes to anything. But hey, if you change your mind and at least try to ahve a little faith in your team then give me a ring, the drinks will be on me.

And to TCR, I am a fan of both the Giants and the Athletics. I grew up rooting for both the Giants and A's, and I worked for the A's for three years.

I would think it'd be Detroit. Doesn't the top seed play wildcard(meaning, Yanks vs. Twins)?

That's still TBD... With the Central still up in the air, the race for home field looks like this:

Tigers 95-62

Yankees 95-62

Twins 94-63 - 1 gb

A's 91-66 - 8 gb

Moose

edit - I just looked it up - the Tigers won the season series 11-8, so the Twins need to win the Central outright (i.e. make-up 2 full games) in the last 5 days to pass the Tigers. Other-wise, a tie would give the Tigers the Central, and the Twins the Wild Card (just like the Yanks and Red Sox last year). Stranger things have happened...

You see why confidence is key?

You can't like the Giants and the A's.

Silly TCR, only Bucfan is allowed to tell people who is and isn't a real fan of a team.

Man, oh, man, I'm a Giants fan... so I give permission to TCR to say it. :D

Uh....you were saying???

Congratulations to the Oakland Athletics & the Detroit Tigers, both of whom pulled off "upsets", for lack of a better term, in their respective Division Series.

A rematch of the 1972 ALCS! Best of luck to both squads!!! Very refreshing to see some NEW blood for a change!

Regards,

Bill McD.
