grmuckrakers
OK, I went to buy one of the Tigers World Series caps today, the ones with the patch on the side of the head. They store had two variations. One appeared to be a basic 5950 with the gray underbill and flat MLB logo on the back. The other had a black underbill, black sweatband and a raised MLB logo -- but the material in the crown seemed like the same material on all the other caps, not some blend that we've been hearing about.Any idea what the heck is going on here? I don't think they're wearing the black-billed verisons in the Series. (Lest Kenny Rogers have a new place to hide pine tar.)
yh
Here in the STL all I have seen are the 5950's with the WS patch. They're 8 bucks more than a regular Cards 5950. I don't know why, but I really like the WS logo this year. If we can somehow pull this series off, I might just have to buy one. They certainly aren't moving off the shelves at my local Sports Authority.
HatManTC
from what i heard is that the MLB went to black underbills to curb writing on the underside by the players.and i never believed that MLB would ditch the 5950 as the on field hats. the new look authentics look like they have a different brushed look than the previous models by RoscoeUA by gingerbreadman

Houston Astros cap and it is made of 70% acrylic 30% wool. I checked other red stros hats in stores and they are like that too. I even saw a Red world series one that was this way. I actually like this style. Has a very smooth feel to it.

The first run was a cheap ass rush job by new era in order to sell more caps. I have pictures of just how bad the quality is that ill post in a few minutes when I download them. FiddySicks
Ok, heres those pics I promised. I ordered these for my personal Authentcis Collection the other day and they came yesterday. Luckily Lids only recieved a few of the crappy first run caps, where smaller regional stores recieved a ton of them. So without further adu, here are the pics.So those are the good. Now, the shop across the way from my store put their pre order in on caps and jerseys at the beginning of the playoffs and they got hit with the crappy ass first run jobs. I was able to snatch a picture of the inside of these caps jsut to show reference on how bad they really are. This is the Tigers home capNow that picture doesnt even do justice as to how truely crappy those are. The fit is terrible, the material isnt correct, the logos are wrong, there are nasty iron marks on the side of the cap, ect ect. Im almost tempted to buy one just so I can show off the crappiness of it. It truely looks like a cheap bootleg knockoff. So, moral of the story is, Order off of MLB.com if you want high quality right away, or wait a week or so on Lids.com On 11/19/2012 at 7:23 PM, oldschoolvikings said: She’s still half convinced “Chris Creamer” is a porn site.) HatManTC
the new Tigers i received in the store are Polyester instead of wool. makes me wonder if all the MLB authentics will be the same way. or if these were just rush jobs for the WS by RoscoeUA by gingerbreadman
tommytimp
I loathe the fact that the side logo is so damn big. "The trouble with quotes on the Internet is that it's hard to verify their authenticity."--Abraham Lincoln

(Lest Kenny Rogers have a new place to hide pine tar.)In game 5 I specifically noticed one of the Tigers pitchers wearing a black underbill.
