Andy Reid = father of the year

Seriously. Why do parents not kick thier kids out of the house when they pull :censored: like this? The dude is 21. Let his ass live on a bench in the ghetto if he wants to be a "Gangsta" so much. <_<

I agree. However, I think that's easier said than done... I have a cousin who recently got out of jail after 2 years, and he moved back in with his parents for a few months - they let him do this despite having previously stolen money for drugs from them, which they knew about. Personally, I can't imagine why, but I'm not in their position.

Now, just out of curiosity were those perscription drugs or illegal drugs he stole from his parents? Because I think if its the latter, theres part one of the problem.

There's the dilemna. Supposedly Andy Reid and his wife are both devout Mormons. So I'd doubt the kid got the cocaine and mary jane from mom and pop.

Seriously though, sometimes you do your best to be a good parent and raise an upstanding citizen and it just doesn't work out that way. Everyone is an individual and everyone is given their own free will. I've seen this in my own family. My uncle has 6 kids. The two oldest boys left the church and got into drugs, booze, theft, assault and other crimes. They moved out of the house to get away from their "crazy mormon dad" but I know if either of them decided to come back home, my uncle wouldn't hesitate to open the door. The other kids have been very devout along with their parents however the 4th child was just found 2 days ago hanging from the rafters in an apparent suicide. So...you just never know. Certainly I think in this case, the blame is all on Britt Reid and not on Andy. Still, people will make the fat jokes, the Mormon jokes and the comments on if Andy really was a decent father, Britt wouldn't have turned out that way. I tend to doubt the character or parental skills of people who make such comments.

I think you're entitled to have a bad apple in the family somewhere. But when you've got a gangsta and a heroin addict as your sons, you've got to take stock of your own parenting skills (or lack thereof).

By virtue of his profession, i'd bet that ol' Pops Reid was never around anyway.

Actually, that's a damn good point.

Yeah I've always given him, Heap, Steve Young and other Latter-Day Saints a hard time for working on Sunday but in reality I think the far more damaging thing is the fact that these guys aren't spending as much time with their kids as they probably should be.

So with that said, I blame the mother. :upside:

Picture Andy Reid ghost riding his whip.

By whip, you mean the tractor they haul injured players off the field with, right?

Oh man, they need to start doing that at Raiders games.

Given the typical mentality at a Raider home game, a monster truck might be more appropriate.

Not to sidetrack this discussion any further, but the money came from his parents, whereas the drugs were bought off the street.

Good for Andy to take some time off and figure out his family issues. Sorry for being cynical, but I hope that's legitimately what he is doing, and this isn't just a PR move to make it seem like the team isn't either blowing off the problem or destroying his family.

oh ,my god ,i strong recommend you to have a visit on the website ,or if i'm the president ,i would have an barceque with the anthor of the articel .

Yeah, it's all fine and good, but 23 and 21 sound like adults to me. I say too little too late. If Coach Reid had taken one month off from football to BE with his family each off season in the last 21 years just to be dad, would his sons have ended up like this?

My guess is "probably not."

Good point. On top of that, the cynic in me says it sure is easy to take a "leave of absence" during the biggest lull on the NFL calendar. The season is over, the draft is over two months away and from what I have read, he will still be accessible to the team if needed. I know there is still work to be done in the meantime (such as wooing free agents), but it isn't as if he is leaving during the middle of training camp (and I'm sure he isn't the only NFL head coach who will be away from the team complex during this time period, since the word "vacation" comes to mind).
