Charlie Manual challenges radio talk-show host to a fight.

Did anyone hear who this was? The personality, I mean.

Howard Eskin.

I think it's about time Manuel showed some guts. His laid-back "Uncle Charlie" personality seems to resonate through this team. Gillick has worked hard to get rid of some of the Ed-Wade, laid-back, couldn't-care-less players on the team (Abreu being the leader of the bunch) but not the manager. Hopefully this is a sign that he will stop being the lovable grandpa, and start being a man and challenging players to play to their abilities. If he challenges anyone to a fight, I wish it'd be Pat Burrell, but that's probably just wishful thinking.

I think it's about time Manuel showed some guts Eskin got beaten, badly and in public. [Manuel's] laid-back "Uncle Charlie" personality seems to resonate through this team. If he challenges anyone to a fight, I wish it'd be Pat Burrell that blathering jackass on 610 who looks like the Burger King himself, but that's probably just wishful thinking.

There we go. All better.

I just wonder why it took so long for Charlie to finally blow his stack. I concede that he was saddled with an iffy rotation and absolutely no bullpen, but he must have realized he was going to take the fall if the team started out slowly... AGAIN. And when they did, and people started calling for his head, why did it take until now for him to show an interest in preserving his hide? After the first series he should've put the entire bullpen (and team, for that matter) that failure was not an option. You drop 4 in a row at home to start the year? You let your 'pen blow 5 of 6 leads they inherit? Make your players accountable, or put the onus on the GM to find people RIGHT NOW who will get outs after the 7th inning.

In order for the Mets' run of 12 losses in 17 games to mean something, the Phillies still had to win 13 of 17.

If Pat the Bat fought Charlie, I've got $3,000 on the skipper. Burrell has the prettiest swing-and-a-miss in baseball, but I think Charlie might actually make contact...with Pat's face.

Did anyone else see the incident on SportsCenter? Was it just me or didnt it seem like Eskin called out Manuel for not being harsh enough, and in turn Manuel just kinda said, uhhhh ok. Ill get tough I guess...... ummm hows it go? Oh yeah, :censored: you. Yeah.... You a$$hole. In the most montotne and laid back manner ive ever seen. It almost seemed like Eskin and Manuel got togather beforehand and mapped out what to say.

It was very strange the Phillies may have a new Manager in May unless they turn thing around fast.

It would even stranger if the Phillies fire Manuel and replace him with bench coach Jimy Williams, who was fired as Blue Jays by Pat Gillick, current Phillies GM, in 1989 after a slow start. The Blue Jays, them promptly went on to win the division.

I saw, I came, I left.

Unfortunately, that's not how Gillick works. I hope they do, but don't think they will make a change.
