dfwabel
Thoughts?Good luck! They gave a chance (a second one) to a coach with limited NBA head coaching experience in Mussleman and he lasted one season, for three total. The West is much tougher than the East, plus they have very little talent. The have no inside presence. Petrie will probably reitre mid-season, then they will really be screwed. I am not sure if Bibby, Martin, and Artest will listen to him. Remember what happened with Magic and currently with Isiah. Reggie coached more games on the set of "Hang Time" than with NMSU. See the difference betwen him and any other college coach is that he has experience in the NBA (as a player), in college (as a head and assistant) and professionally as head coach (well....if you consider the Las Vegas Slam/ABA as professional). His lengthy paying career in the NBA should benefit him the most. Too bad he's coaching the Kings in the MIGHTY Western Conference. Well good luck. College sports as we know them are just about dead. The lid is off on all the corruption that taints just about every major program and every decision that the schools or the NCAA make is only about money, money, and more money. We'll have three 16+ team super-conferences sooner rather than later, killing much of the regional flair and traditional rivalries that make college sports unique and showing the door to any school that doesn't bring money to the table in the process. Pretty soon the smaller schools are going to have to consider forming their own sanctioning body to keep the true spirit of college sports alive because the NCAA will only get worse in it's excess from here
FiddySicks
Somewhere DirtyCurty is crying to himself. But seriously, great move by the Kings. Not only do they bring in a top notch college coach, but they also bring in a Sacramento ledgend. Shumway
When they're done with Reggie, they better give the job to Dick Butkus.
leedsunited
Who were the alternatives? Brian Shaw? Kurt Rambis?Hell, why not bring in Reggie Theus. More exciting than anyone else on that list, by a country mile.
B-Rich
Theus? Wow, that's a blast from my past. Reminds me about what we used to say about him in Atlanta when he had the GQ look and moustache and went from the Kings to the Hawks....Venus-- God of BeautyBacchus -- God of WineTheus -- God of Cool It is what it is. HappyBrownie13
i know he's thought highly of in the coaching world, but im always a little sketched out by a guy who takes an extension, then IMMEDIATELY jumps ship for a better opportunity when you're replacing an old Carr, you need more than Les Miles
nmsuaggie
Being a graduate of New Mexico State, I wasn't surprised to hear that Theus was going to move up. I knew any openings in either a power college team openings or NBA opening would be perfect bait for him to move. Too bad we only had two great years with him, but I wish him all the best. Go Aggies!
