Derby
It honors UCLA for being the first school to win a total of 100 NCAA Championships. "C" is the Roman numeral for 100.
kewp80
Is this just a one time thing? Or will they be wearing these throughout the season? That's a pretty clever idea. Don't really like how it looks, but for a milestone like that It's ok. Cardinals -- Rams -- Blues -- Tigers -- Liverpool Check out my music! sc49erfan15
My first guess was California being the "Golden State"...but I like the real reason better.
darkshadow1031
I noticed this too in Sports Illustrated a few weeks back (I think) but forgot to bring it up on the board. 2002-2006 ALUMNI 2007-2009

Don't really like how it looks, but for a milestone like that It's ok.Its for the whole year. Their away jerseys have a white C (while the rest of the lettering is yellow). A few other (if not all) sports are doing it in someway. Football colored the C a different color in the endzone.
BRice16
FYI, it has been that way on every uniform of every UCLA sport this year, not just basketball. In football, the "C" in the end zone was a different color as well.
Roger Clemente
I could just imagine the Montreal Canadiens doing something like this next year for being the first NHL team to be around a century. oddball
It is for 100 championships, and it's been on many teams the whole year. Will the Canadiens do something this tacky? No, because they are a classy franchise.

The trading away of fan favorites happens to every fan today sans Tony Gwynn, and Cal Ripken. I was talking about what a team wears and the look they have.
