100 Years of Razorbacks Logo

The University of Arkansas is celebrating 100 years of being the Razorbacks with a year long celebration and of course a 100 years logo. The logo is by Phoenix Designs and will be worn on the back of the football helmets and on most other jerseys.

For those who don't know, the Arkansas nickname was originally the Cardinal until 1910 when the then football coach referred to his players as a "bunch of wild razorbacks" after a win against LSU.

The logo was just unveiled, but I did find this decent pic online.

How come this logo doesn't ever get mentioned in the same vein as the other "classic", "iconic", and "untouchable" sports logos in sports logodom??

If you ask me, I think it belongs.

You know, I never realized it untill now just how creative and effective Arkansas' mascot is.

I think more people would if they were halfway decent the past thirty years. One of my big regrets is that I was not around in the 60's and 70's when they were consistently a top 10 team.

It is a massive source of pride in this state though, heck the live Razorback boar mascot is treated like a king. haha.
