Ez Street Posted May 3, 2004 Share Posted May 3, 2004 ADIRONDACK HOKCEY ANNOUNCES FINALISTS IN NAME THE TEAM SWEEPSTAKES "MULLETEERS" AMONG THE FINAL SIX 04/30/04 Glens Falls, NY ? Members of the ownership group of Adirondack Hockey, proud member of the United Hockey League, have chosen the final six names in its Name the Team Sweepstakes, it was announced today. Hockey fans in the North Country, as well as sports enthusiasts around the world, will have the chance to determine the new nickname throughout the month of May.The finalist, chosen after careful consideration of the 800 plus suggestions submitted, are: · Adirondack Attack· Adirondack Axemen· Adirondack Frostbite· Adirondack Mulleteers· Adirondack Red Hawks· Adirondack SpelunkersAdditionally, fans will have the opportunity to request that the IceHawks name be continued. Should an overwhelming majority (as deemed by Adirondack Hockey) express the desire to keep the IceHawks name, that idea will be considered.The final list was paired down from over 3,000 entries submitted during the month of April. The second phase of balloting will commence May 1st, with ballot boxes at most branches of the Glens Falls National Bank, all Team Reardon McDonald?s and Tropical Fitness locations in Queensbury and Warrensburg. Additionally, fans may vote on www.adirondackhockey.com, or mail ballots found in the Post Star to Name the Team, P.O. Box 934, Glens Falls, NY 12801. During phase two of the balloting process, each fan will be permitted only one vote. In the event of submission of multiple votes by one person, only the first selection received by Adirondack Hockey will be counted. A complete set of contest rules is available on www.adirondackhockey.com. The grand prize winner, determined by a random draw of all entries from both phases of the sweepstakes, will receive a personalized tour for two of the ESPN broadcast headquarters in Bristol, CT, personally escorted by Barry Melrose and Steve Levy. Season Tickets for the 2004-05 season are on sale now at the hockey office located at the Glens Falls Civic Center. New ownership group, led by the slicked back, mullet sporting, pinstripe wearing Barry Melrose.
