Detroit Free Press: Tigers D Logo History

I couldn't help but notice that the Tigers' cap D was everywhere at Comerica Park last night. It was painted behind the plate, and there were two printed on the padding that could be prominently seen from the main center-field camera. Any logic to that? Considering the jersey version of the old English D was made the primary a couple years back...

Each one looks the best on it's current application, so I see no need for them to ditch one. They're classic enough, like the Yankees, that it just works. It wouldn't if try were switching to it today, but that's not the case.

Ah, good catch. I didn't see that.

Maybe they're making a small change to it, like the LA Dodgers are with their sleeve logo? An outline, perhaps?

It's a little different than than the current logo, the one that says current is a little thinner and sharper than the orange one.
