Las Vegas Neon

For a while now, Raysox has been designing identities for Yakball, a sport that he invented. When it came time to do a team in Los Angeles, MBurmy suggested he use the name Los Angeles Neon. He ended up using Sporting LA, so I asked him if he had any plans to do anything with the LA Neon name, because I wanted to change it a little and use it for something else. He gave me the green light, and I decided I was going to use the Neon name for a hockey team in Las Vegas, a very Neon city.

Since there's no real Las Vegas Neon, there was no precedent, and I had to start from scratch with colors and logos as well as uniforms. I came up with a primary logo inspired by the famous "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas" sign, a shoulder patch based on the Coyotes' Arizona patch, featuring the abbreviation for Las Vegas and the chemical symbol for neon. The third logo is a wordmark for one of the alternates. The font used throughout the concept comes from DaFont and is called HamburgerHeaven.

There are four uniforms in this set. The primary is black, to emphasize the neon colors of the logos, stripes, and numbers, and to symbolize the neon against the night sky on the Vegas Strip. The away is the standard white sweater. The first alternate is a yellow and red checkered shirt. This pays homage to Vegas Vic. Vegas Vic is a neon sign that depicts a cowboy wearing a shirt like this one, and he has come to be an icon of Las Vegas. The second alt is neon pink. Why, you may ask? Because simply, it's unique. The only time you'll see a hockey team wear pink is on breast cancer night, and I wanted to do something a little different, because that's what the concepts forum is for.

I think writing "NEON" in neon light style over a black Vegas skyline would be a cool idea. The current primary logo is kind of plain

I think if you're going to go with the LVNE idea, it needs to be typed 'LVNe'. By capitalizing the E, it loses the scientific meaning that was intended.

What colors would you suggest? The only one I'm adamant on keeping is the pink.

This. When I think of Vegas I think of going out and seeing the neon signs at night? so a couple of neon colors on a black background would look smashing.

It's not bad, but like other people are saying the primary logo is pretty simple. It looks like you used the shape from the welcome to Las Vegas sign. Maybe you can add the star in the top left. An other idea is where it says "Welcome", you can put "Las Vegas" in the same font. It also looks like there's dots surrounding the logo, that you can include in your logo.

The first and second good.

The checkered one.. What about make a checkered shoulder patch instead? Isnt it too much like this? And, it would look strange on standard tv sets.

The pink is fun but unrealistic I think. The overall idea is great.

A good start. I'd reduce the palette, as someone said, to black, pink, and aqua. I love the wordmark typeface. And I'd reduce the checkered pattern in the alt to a minor element.
