  1. As someone who hates the Astros and the Yankees and as someone who suffers as a Reds fan, Id rather suffer than be a fan of the Astros or Yankees.
  2. Scary collision tonight in Cincinnati. Vancouver keeper Cody Cropper and Javain Brown collided sending Cropper head over heals and landing on his head and neck. Play was immediately stopped as both players were down. Brown apparently also got hit in the eye. He walked off with his eye swollen shut and was subbed under the concussion substitute protocol that began last season. Cropper remained down barely moving before finally sitting up and eventually getting up. The way he landed I would have thought he would be stretchered off but somehow he stayed in the match for the rest of the half but he clearly should have been taken out immediately. Why they let him continue, I have no idea. He played for the rest of the half, with his neck starting to bruise, before he too was subbed under the concussion substitute protocol to start the second half. I have never seen a concussion sub used before so I dont know how often this kind of substitution is used. Apparently teams get 2 per game to use outside their normal substitutions and Vancouver used both of them tonight. Sergio Santos made his FCC debut coming on in the 74th minute but was subbed out in the 90th injury after he picked up a knock. FCCs defense let them down again as they lost their lead and ended in their 5th draw in six matches.
  3. No. The Reds are just pulling off weird wins. Walk off balk on Friday vs the Rays and winning on an overturned challenged double play tonight vs the Yankees
  4. Nashville SC will launch their MLS Next Pro club next season in 2023 in Huntsville, AL. They will play at a renovated Joe Davis Stadium, the former home of MiLB Huntsville Stars. This one surprises me a bit. I knew Huntsville was redeveloping the Joe for soccer but I was expecting a USL League One club. Most of the MLS teams have their Next Pro Club in the same market This might not be all the soccer expansion news today. There are substantial rumors of New Orleans being awarded aUSL Championship club today, possibly to play at either Tulanes football stadium or at the former MiLB home of the New Orleans Zephyrs Baby Cakes.
  5. Reds get their first sweep of the season over the Rays
  6. Went to my first FC Cincinnati match (or any soccer match for that matter) ever. My takes: -"The Tickle" is a beautiful stadium. Atmosphere is amazing. -PRO Referees are a disgrace to the game. They make VAR pointless. -Went to see FCC play the New York Red Bulls but all I saw was a New York team doing their best impersonations of Tom Daley. -FCC fans will never forgive Frankie Amaya
  7. Wasnt expecting this but a good add for FC Cincinnati. Sergio Santos is being traded to FC Cincy from the Philadelphia Union in exchange for GAM. FC Cincinnati is slowly but surely stealing everyone from the Union: Pat Noonan (Asst Coach PHI 2018-21, Head Coach CIN 2022-pre Chris Albright (Player PHI 2012-13, Technical Staff PHI 2014-21, General Manager CIN 2021-pre) Austin Berry (player PHI 2014-15, Player CIN (USL) 2016-17, Strength and Conditioning Coach CIN 2018-pre) Alvas Powell (CIN 2019, PHI 2021, CIN 2022) Haris Medunjanin (PHI 2017-19, CIN 2020-pre) Ray Gaddis (PHI 2012-20, retired 2021, Came out of retirement CIN 2022-pre) Sergio Santos (PHI 2019-22, CIN 2022-pre)
  8. Reds get their first walk off win of the season. It only took until July 3rd They also snapped a 10 game home losing streak (longest for the Reds since 1986). Their last home win was nearly a month ago against the Diamondbacks on June 7th
  9. I dont know about football players but I saw an interview with West Virginia basketball coach Bob Huggins who basically said the same thing about Cincinnati and UCF joining the Big 12 with the constant travel they will have to make to the southwest.
  10. Not to mention these student athletes are still expected to be in class the next morning after a late flight after the game
  11. The Big Ten will now stand for the number of hours from Rutgers to LA
  12. Absolutely unprofessional by that official in particular. I know the officiating last night was atrocious but this guy went beyond. Apparently he also denied Brenner the game ball after the match after he scored his and the clubs first ever hat trick.
  13. Wild night in Cincinnati. Cincinnati goes up 3-0 in the first 30 minutes (plus a disallowed goal by Brenner), then NYCFC storms back with 3 unanswered goals in stoppage time to tie it at the half (including a brace from Heber and a saved penalty). NYCFC takes the lead in the 52 minute and Brenner gets FCCs first hat trick in MLS play in the 70 minute to draw it up at 4. A disallowed goal (again by Brenner) in stoppage time nearly put FCC on top again for the win but the match ends in a 4-4 draw in what should have been a 6-5 FCC win, with Brenner scoring 5 goals (two disallowed)
  14. 9 Angels and 3 Mariners suspended. Its one thing to see players, manager and coaches get suspended. I dont think Ive ever seen an interpreter getting suspended though.
  15. it sounds like Indy is still going for a 20,000 seat stadium. Im pretty sure MLS is just about set on having Las Vegas as team number 30 but, if they go to 32 Id say Indy could be a solid bet.
  16. Bettman IS Covid. He has been a pandemic since 1993! I first took an interest in hockey as kid around 1995. It was the Avalanche who I picked to be my team that I cheered for with my favorite player being Patrick Roy. Though Colorado isnt my current team I cheer for they have a place in my heart so im happy to see them win the cup again.
  17. This poor kid cant catch a break. Last year she went to San Diego to visit her favorite player Joey Votto when the Reds were in town. He got ejected in the first inning. Today she went to see Jesse Winker (former Red now with the Mariners) in Anaheim. History has now repeated. 2021: 2022:
  18. Sacramento will host Kansas City and the Orlando/Nashville winner will host NY Red Bulls in the Open Cup semifinals The order to host the finals are Orlando/Nashville winner, Kansas City, New York. Sacramento will not host.
  19. Sporting Kansas City wallops Union Omaha 6-0. Sporting KC will meet Sacramento Republic in the semifinals. New York Red Bulls beat NYCFC 3-0 and await the winner of Orlando City and Nashville SC, who play next week. A draw will take place tomorrow to determine who hosts. In the Canadian Championship, Torono FC blanks CF Montreal 4-0, while Vancouver Whitecaps knock of CPL side York United 2-1. Vancouver will host Toronto in the Championship Final.
  20. USL Championships Sacramento Republic upset LA Galaxy 2-1 to advance to the US Open Cup semifinals. They are the first non MLS club to make it to the Open Cup semifinals since the 2017 FC Cincinnati club. Sacramento await the winner of Sporting Kansas City and USL League Ones Union Omaha
  21. Colorado Mammoth won the NLL Championship tonight. The way the Avs are playing, they may want to save some room in the Ball Arena trophy case
