  1. Cant say Im not surprised by this. The Big South is on its last legs. Next year the Big South and Ohio Valley are supposed to do some kind of alliance for football.
  2. MLS Next Pro is adding seven clubs next season Atlanta United 2, LA Galaxy II, and New York Red Bulls II are expected to move over from USL Championship. Austin FC, Charlotte FC, and LAFC are also expected to field teams with names and locations TBA. Nashville SC will field a team in Huntsville. DC and Montreal will be the only MLS clubs not fielding an MLS Next Pro team next year. One twist in all this was DC Uniteds II team Loudoun United was expected to go to MLS Next Pro from USL Championship along with Atlanta, LA, and New York. However it appears that as part of the contract for building Segra Field in Loudoun was that it hosts a Division II team, and not a division III team which MLS Next Pro is. DC may stay in Loudoun for another season but Id expect Loudoun to become independent later. DC supposedly is looking at Baltimore to eventually place its D3 reserve team. Baltimore has been looked at for a while by USL. Las Vegas in the USL might be in trouble. They have an affiliation with LAFC and with LAFC joining MLS Next Pro next season, Las Vegas is on their own. Supposedly, having LAFC coming in and running most of the things for Vegas is the only reason they came back this season. Las Vegas is in the running for an MLS club.
  3. The Union was a must win for Cincinnati if they wanted to remain in the playoff race. Philly has looked amazing all year but the FC Cincy match was something else. Cincinnati had full control and Philadelphia looked lost. Vazquez and Brenner have been running the show and Barreal looks like a new man since Acosta was suspended. Atlanta is up next followed by two big ones against Red Bull and Crew. We need points in all three.
  4. Im not too familiar but I know FCC fans have been begging for him. We desperately need CB and defense and hopefully he will be what we need
  5. Meanwhile the LA Carson Galaxy is trying to get the USL Orange County SC evicted from Championship Soccer Stadium in Irvine. The Galaxy have submitted a bid to Irvine city council to evict OCSC (as well as all other teams) from the stadium in order to place their division 3 club there next year in MLS Pro Next. Currently the Galaxy operate LA Galaxy II at the track and field stadium at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, in the same league that OCSC is in.. LA Galaxy Ii is expected to move to MLS Next Pro next season. Needless to say Orange County SC is pissed, as is the USL, and both are looking to fight this. LA doesnt need to move the team to Irvine. The Championship Soccer Stadium seats around 5000 and MLS Next Pro teams (as well as LA Galaxy II) are lucky to even draw 200 fans. There is no need to move them to a larger stadium
  6. I would have thought they would have gone with the flaming A and be the Alberta Flames
  7. City of Cincinnati has denied the Bengals formal request for using temporary banners showing Paul Brown Stadiums new name. No new name has been announced yet, but the Bengals were looking into selling the naming rights. The city is citing zoning codes for the denial. Those codes being: -Temporary signs are to be made with cloth or other light fabric. The Bengals want vinyl. -Some signs would excede size restrictions. -The signs would be up for the entire season, beyond the 30 day, four times per year limit for temporary signs. -Some signs would cover windows. The Bengals are petitioning for an exception, with a hearing set later in August.
  8. AFC Champion Cincinnati Bengals had 28,283 fans show up for Bengals practice today at Paul Brown Stadium. PRACTICE! The Reds have only had 28,283 fans or more just four times this season. I think the fans listened to Phil Castellini and found somewhere else to go.
  9. The fledgling D3 league NISA is in shambles as its four expansion teams for this season might not make it. Valley United started on a hot streak but was caught with some illegal immigration on the team and was forced to forfeit their first six games (which they previously all won). They then went 1-1-1 before the team took a 30 day operational pause. Two days ago the team suspended operations for the remainder of the season due to the complexity of these legal issues. Next Bay Cities FC is apparently in financial trouble. Supposedly players and employees havent been payed in a couple months and the players. The players are considering a strike. Finally Flower City Union and Syracuse Pulse may be merging. Syracuse is struggling financially, but were bailed out at one point and Flower City Union arent doing well either as they are having trouble drawing fans. Competing club Rochester New York FC (MLS Next Pro) are drawing more fans (not a lot more) There are more expansion teams set for next season but for a league that is already very sketchy, this is not a good look.
  10. At this point they might as well. It at least gives UCLA and USC some closer travel. Notre Dame is just gonna Notre Dame. No sense just waiting on them twiddling their thumbs. Have Arizona, Arizona State, Utah, Colorado, Washington State, and Oregon State join the Big 12 and disband the Pac 12
  11. Sacramento has upset Kansas City! The Republic hold off SKC in penalties. 0-0 (5-4) and will head to Orlando to battle Orlando City in the US Open Cup Final. Orlando slammed New York Red Bulls 5-1. Sacramento becomes the first non MLS team to make the final since 2008! Also congrats to Vancouver Whitecaps FC on defeating Toronto FC to win this years Canadian Championship last night
  12. Id say Texas, Baltimore, Wrigley, Yankee are all due . Tampa, Toronto, and Oakland need to get their stadium situations better before hosting but they are due too.
  13. I mean if the Bears bolt for Arlington like they want to, it can still open up renovation possibilities for the Fire. I mean the Fire dont need 70,000. They cant even draw 20,000 but still renovate Soldier Field to a more intimate soccer experience could still work.
  14. and NFL. Looking at you now CFL. Time for CFL USA 2.0
  15. My favorite proposed names so far have been: Graeter Cincinnati Field at PBS (Graeters Ice Cream) The Jungle at PBS (Jungle Jims) Pure Romance Field at PBS (because we already have The Tickle, TQL Stadium) Skyline (or Gold Star) Chili Bowl at PBS Heinz Field at PBS (to piss off Steelers fans)
  16. Im hearing XFL will announce its teams and stadiums on Sunday
  17. Bengals fans love the Paul Brown name. A name change would have to be approved by Cincinnati City Hall and Hamilton County Commissioners as the stadium is owned by the county. Despite being a corporate sponsor, Steelers fans resonated with Heinz as (at the time it was a local company, before merging with Kraft and relocating headquarters to Chicago). Lambeau is a name forever associated with the proud history of the Packers. Paul Brown is our Curly Lambeau. Since the Bengals have the option to purchase naming rights, they would get the money, not the county. The county pays for stadium upgrades through taxpayer money from when the stadium was built.
  18. A new indoor box lacrosse league has formed and will begin play for a 2022-23 winter season. They expect play to be on par with what would be the equivilant of AAA level, behind the NLL. 7 cities have been announced so far, with an 8th city to be announced once arena is secured. Binghamton, Elmira, and Syracuse NY, Trenton NJ, Charlotte NC, Hampton Roads VA, and Manchester NH/Springfield MA have all been announced so far. The Professional Box Lacrosse Association is having name the team contest on their website for the teams
  19. Steelers fans are about to have company in being unhappy with their stadium renaming. Sources saying the Bengals are close to a deal for naming rights to Paul Brown Stadium. As a Bengals fan, Id be okay if they did the Chiefs route like they did with Arrowhead and have the field named with the stadium name being retained, but if they wipe out the Paul Brown name completely, its gonna be war.
  20. Also hearing an ECHL expansion club in Rio Rancho, NM (just outside of Albuquerque) is being finalized for the ECHL. The New Mexico Raptors are hoping to drop the puck in 2023
  21. Im hearing Baton Rouge will have announcement on Monday of a new hockey team. Nothing else mentioned as of yet. Id be looking at either NAHL, SPHL or FPHL. Baton Rouge hasnt had hockey since the ECHL Baton Rouge Kingfish left in 2003
  22. Whats the Municipal Auditorium site like? I know that place has been virtually untouched since Katrina. Could that be an option for a stadium development? Metairie seems out of the way
  23. New Orleans will be a great fit for USL Championship. Several regional rivalries from Birmingham, Memphis as well as the Texas clubs. They got plenty of time to get things going. Ive heard everything from building a new soccer stadium to playing at Tulanes football stadium and renovating the Shrine on Airline (former MiLB baseball stadium).
