  1. Lynn Family Stadium seats 11,700. It can be expanded to 15,304. Louisville averaged 10,465 a game this year with several games selling out. The game this weekend was only 8,509 so not as big as many of the other games they hosted this year. Im not sure why it wasnt as full this weekend but I can tell you Louisville has a lot of support for its team, maybe not on the same level that Cincinnati did when it was in the USL but I think they can support them if they move up. Im not sure what the weather was but some communities may have been doing trick or treating on Saturday.
  2. We'll have a new champion this year Philadelphia defeats NYCFC and will play at LAFC for the MLS Cup. Also congrats to Forge FC on winning their 3rd Canadian Premier League title in the four year history of the league. They defeated top club Atletico Ottawa today in the nations capitol. USL League One Final is now set as South Georgia Tormenta will host Chattanooga Red Wolves for the title. Both clubs knocked off the top two seeds in the semifinals. USL Championship Conference Finals are set. Colorado Springs will play at Supporters Shield winner San Antonio, while Tampa Bay will play at Eastern Conference Champion Louisville. Louisville has played in the conference final all 7 of their seasons since the team began in 2015.
  3. Might as well move the A's "temporarily" to Mullett Arena. It was built on the site of ASUs former baseball stadium. After which ASU moved its baseball to Phoenix Municipal Stadium in 2015 after the A's moved their spring training out of that stadium. The circle would be complete.
  4. If they are on their way out of Oakland, when and how would they do it? Will they do what the Raiders did and play a couple lame duck seasons at the Coliseum while a ballpark in Las Vegas is constructed? Will they try to split games between Oakland and Las Vegas (similar to what Montreal did in Puerto Rico) until a new ballpark is built? Will they abandon the Coliseum and try to rent from the Giants until a ballpark is built in Vegas? Will they rent from the Giants and split games in San Francisco and Las Vegas? Will they move to Las Vegas and play at their minor league park until a new ballpark is built? Several options but what is the best?
  5. If you think the "temporary" visitors locker room is bad , the Coyotes "permanent" locker room isnt much better. Also peep the shower signage. How very college of the dude holding a shower beer. Also the final product of the "temporary" visitors locker room somehow looks better than the Coyotes permanent locker room.
  6. Full logo sets for the Salem Mayhem, Elmira Renegades, New England Chowderheads, and Syracuse Spark of the new Professional Box Lacrosse Association. The league also announced a new ninth team called the Jim Thorpe All Americans. The team based out of Jim Thorpe Pennsylvania will play a 4 game Origins series at various locations. The leagues championship trophy has also been named after Jim Thorpe.
  7. Salt Lake is currently the smallest American market in MLS. USL has several teams in larger markets that could jump up to MLS. Those markets are Phoenix, Oakland, Detroit, San Diego, Tampa Bay, San Antonio, Sacramento, Pittsburgh, Las Vegas, Indianapolis. Three future USL expansion markets Rhode Island (Pawtucket is part of the Providence area), Jacksonville, Milwaukee. Oklahoma City, Memphis, Louisville as well as two USL League One markets North Carolina (Raleigh-Cary) and Richmond are also ahead of Salt Lake. You also have USL teams that share MLS markets in Orange County, Loudoun (part of the DC Metro), Miami, future clubs in Queens and Fort Worth and a League One club in Charlotte. Markets without teams include Riverside/ Inland Empire, San Francisco (though Oakland and San Jose have teams), Baltimore, Cleveland, Virginia Beach/Norfolk. Looking at the USL attendance from this season one surprise is the team with the best attendance, New Mexico. While Albuquerque is significantly smaller than Salt Lake, New Mexico United brought in an average of 10,724 this season. Louisville was right behind at 10,465. Sacramento averaged 9,876. Indy averaged 8,285. While several of the USL cities could support an MLS club, they would need a venue and ownership with a lot of financial backing. I firmly believe that for a team to join MLS they need to show success in attendance for either previous hosting of games for the US national team or USL. Several USL markets have done that but the numbers are actually quite smaller because of stadium size limitations. Id love to see several teams make the jump to MLS. Some may be more realistic than others. Id love to see Phoenix, San Diego, Tampa Bay, Indianapolis and Louisville. I know Louisville can expand their stadium to MLS standards and Indy will begin construction on a new stadium soon that could potentially house an MLS club, Phoenix, and Tampa at one point had expansion bids that fizzled out. I believe while Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego was built primarily for San Diego State football, it was also built with soccer in mind. My choice would be to have San Diego be team 30, Tampa or Phoenix be team 31 and Louisville or Indy be team 32.
  8. I havent heard much lately about MLS possible expansion to Las Vegas, but now there are reports according to the San Diego Union Tribune that a group led by an Egyptian billionaire have been meeting with MLS regularly to bring a team to San Diego and Snapdragon Stadium as soon as 2024 . While California already has the Earthquakes, LAFC and the Galaxy, I think San Diego can work, especially after the Sacramento debacle. Id much rather have San Diego in MLS than Las Vegas.
  9. Well the Vancouver/Vancouver Island area is already very crowded with soccer. In the Canadian soccer pyramid Vancouver FC and Pacific FC are division 1, and 7 of the leagues 8 clubs are in the Vancouver area in division 3 League 1 BC (team 8 is in Kamloops) . In the American soccer pyramid, Vancouver Whitecaps FC are division 1 MLS and Whitecaps FC II are division 3 MLS Next Pro. Vancouver Whitecaps FC (MLS) Vancouver FC (Langley) (CPL) Pacific FC (Langford) (CPL) Whitecaps FC II (Burnaby) (MLS Next Pro) Altitude FC (North Vancouver) (League 1 BC) Harbourside FC (Nanaimo) (League 1 BC) TSS Rovers FC (Burnaby) (League 1 BC) Unity FC (Langley) (League 1 BC) Varsity FC (UBC campus) (League 1 BC) Victoria Highlanders FC (Victoria) (League 1 BC) Whitecaps FC Academy (UBC campus) (League 1 BC)
  10. Overall it looks like a nice identity. Only thing that bugs me is the 2022, when the team debuts in 2023. Id much rather see the debut year than the founding year.
  11. Anyone else wish they would just go back to the two legged playoff format?
  12. Missed this one. Yesterday we had a sports equinox. For the first time since October 31, 2021 we had MLB, NFL, MLS, NBA, and NHL playing on the same day.
  13. LAFC moves on to the conference finals and will host Austin or Dallas. Meanwhile, USL League One, who just lost FC Tucson to League Two has now gained One Knox SC from League Two. One Knox who just completed their first season in Knoxville in League Two was preparing to move up to League One upon completion of a new ballpark to be shared with the Tennessee Smokies minor league baseball team in 2025 but it looks like they are moving up early. They will now play at University of Tenneessee Regal Soccer Stadium. No word if they still intend to move to the new Smokies ballpark as teams and the USL now tend to be shying away from ballparks.
  14. What a turnaround for FC Cincinnati this season. Normally a loss like tonight in the regular season would be easy to take. They played hard the whole game and kept up with the Union. Philly goes on to host either Montreal or NYCFC
  15. El Paso too and Las Vegas if they survive the offseason (Ive heard some rumblings).
  16. Can we just cancel the ALCS and change the NLCS into the World Series?
  17. Some more USL news today. Memphis 901 unveiled plans for a new stadium to be built by 2025 in Liberty Park replacing the historic Mid South Coliseum. In USL League One news FC Tucson announced they are dropping down to USL League Two next season. They are hoping to get a new soccer stadium built in Tucson with hopes to move back up to League One someday and still hold the market rights.
  18. a battle for Texas is set as FC Dallas defeats Minnesota to advance to face Austin FC. NYCFC also advances to play at Montreal Meanwhile, rumblings im hearing for USL Championship
  19. Club Foot advances meaning there will be no baseball stadiums used in hosting the next round.
  20. Austin FC comes from behind and wins on penalties after added extra time defeating Real Salt Lake
  21. Am I really cheering for a Phillies and Padres NLCS?
  22. LA Galaxy moving on after defeating Nashville SC, setting up El Trafico playoff edition.
  23. As always an ugly game against the New York Red Bulls Diving Club. 12 minutes of stoppage time??? I guess when New York constantly has their butts on the ground they need to be rewarded for the time wasted. Cincinnati is the only team Philly has struggled against all year. Should be fun Thursday night.
  24. Despite feeling like im on my deathbead, I managed to muster up enough energy to get up to watch FCC clinch and caught the last part of Columbus getting eliminated. Eastern Conference teams should be scared of them. The only eastern conference playoff teams who beat Cincinnati this year are Montreal. beat Orlando 2-1, 1-0 beat Miami 3-1, tied 4-4 tied NYRB twice 1-1 tied NYCFC 4-4 and 1-1 beat Philadelphia 3-1 and tied 1-1 lost to Montreal 4-3 twice.
  25. Maybe I missed it but it looks like the Kansas City Mavericks and the Norfolk Admirals are going with new looks this year
