  1. You need to be a little more specific. What are you using the logos for? Concepts? Fantasy sports?
  2. TNF is perfect for your extra point gorilla idea. Mic him up and put him in.
  3. You have options here and none of them are "continue to argue."
  4. At least you didn't refer to us as a suburb of Detroit like a lot of people do.
  5. Toledo is on the border of Michigan. Canada is a good 60 miles north of us. Anyway, we didn't get CBC over the air. CBC was carried on our local cable system. Apparently, our cable system made the choice to carry CBC Channel 9. I can't remember if the over the air signal out of Windsor was strong enough to pick up in Toledo. I'm sure Detroit and Windsor had the on-air carry over you referred to. In fact, when I was in grade school, the most popular radio station around was 800 AM CKLW out of Windsor. It was what us radio people call a "flamethrower." Its signal was so strong that it was clear as a bell throughout most of Ohio. Even though it broadcast out of Canada, CKLW was positioned as a Detroit station at the time. It was the undisputed champion of Top 40 radio. Today, it's a full on Canadian talk station and I'm pretty sure the signal was either turned down or redirected towards Canada because we can barely pick it up these days. EDIT: Speaking of flamethrower radio stations. Last week, I was listening to WTAM 1100 out of Cleveland - while I was driving in Spring Hill, FL which is 1060 miles from Cleveland. 50,000 watts and a clear channel will do some distance on AM radio.
  6. FWIW, in Toledo back in the 80's, we had CBC on our cable package. (It may still be there, I don't know) I cut my hockey teeth on Hockey Night in Canada. If Toledo, Ohio managed to find a way to carry CBC, I have to think it would have been easy enough to pull it off in other markets.
  7. After seeing the pics, I think all white just might be the Texans best look.
  8. As I've said many times on (cheap plug alert) Basically a Sports Show*, I firmly believe that Dan Snyder will stick with WFT for just that reason. Some of the fans will be happy because they can still use the old name (and them) while others will be happy simply because they won't have to deal with a forced and most likely stupid replacement name. It's going to take a good long while to flush the old Washington name from the collective conscience of the fan base. Even fans who probably knew it was wrong still freely used the old name. Staying with WFT is the easiest and least "they'll always be the foreskins to me" way out for Dan Snyder. That or move the franchise to a different city and do a complete makeover. *Available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and wherever fine podcasting is sold.
  9. First you gotta have a lot of teams and you seem to have checked that box and then some. Can't say I've run across many Seahawks/Rams fans or Heat/Nets fans.
  10. Today was a CBS doubleheader day. Maybe that has something to do with it.
  11. Yeah, other than the death threats, dfwabel was a good poster. Anyway, to take a shot at answering your question, my best guess is the markets who would have gotten the game at its regularly scheduled time will still get it on Monday. Any market that wasn't going to get it will be relieved to know that Maury will still air at its usual time. But I could be wrong. EDIT: Looks like D_G beat me to it.
  12. Best I can remember, Lee, Slapshot, Mockba (now -kj-) Brian in Boston, YH, JoshWaggle (or something like that), and I believe Chris was still a mod way back then. There may have been more, but those are the ones I remember.
  13. It's a complicated process, but I'll do my best to explain how it works. First, the Majestic XII has to decide to open the moderator books. This happens roughly every 23 to 27 months. It's called the "Twenty Three to Twenty Seven Month Quell." A combination of charts, equations, Jim Beam, and a washing machine are used to determine the exact time frame. Once the M-XII declares "the moderator books are open", there is a special M-XII committee that selects members as a possible moderator candidates. Usually, 31 members are "tapped" as potential mod candidates, but that number can be a little higher or a little lower depending on that season's quell. "Tapped" candidates will find Hartford Whalers jersey slipped under their door. Once the 31 members are selected as a potential mods, there are a series of grueling physical and mental tests in which each candidate must participate. Secrecy forbids me from being specific about the tests, but I can tell you that they're not easy. Of the initial 31 (give or take) candidates, the number that make it through the initial process averages about 4.7. Some quells may produce five or more candidates while other quells have been a complete waste of everyone's time because no one got past round one. The candidates who survive the initial process are then subjected to another series of even more grueling physical and mental tests. Again, I can't be specific, but I can tell you that part of it requires building an air compressor from scratch. Generally, 1-2 candidates will make it past round two of testing. Those candidates are then voted on by the full membership of the Majestic XII. The M-XII vote must be unanimous. If the vote is not unanimous, the M-XII will post a picture of a Cleveland Browns helmet with a random logo on it. If the vote is unanimous and a new mod has been selected, the M-XII will post a picture of an NFL helmet with a gray face mask to let the masses know that a decision has been made and a new moderator has joined the ranks. Hope that explains it.
  14. I'm guessing you meant the word for a female dog. Far as I know, women don't have their own word for dog, but anything is possible, I guess.
  15. That doesn't mean we aren't willing to take a look.
  16. I seriously doubt it. As I said in my previous post, Florence is all about the "Y'all" bit. FWIW, my entire family is from Kentucky. I've heard "Y'all" more times than I can count. I've never heard a Kentucky hillbilly, relative or otherwise, say "damn yankees." They call us Ohioans "buckeyes" and it's not meant as a reference to Ohio State. No idea how they refer to people from other states, but if it's "damn yankees", I've never heard it.
  17. If you're familiar with Florence, the name makes perfect sense. My Mom used to live in Florence. When I was there, "Florence, Y'all" wasn't just on the water tower, it seemed like it was everywhere. No idea if it still does, but the city used to have an annual "Y'all Festival." Anyway, I love the look and the name. Well done.
  18. Sleeves on football jerseys. MLB games that were played in under 3 hours Mel Allen doing TWIB MLB Game of the Week on NBC MNF on ABC with Frank, Howard, and Dandy Don (Look it up, youngsters. You'll be glad you did) Super Bowls that started before 6:30 PM
  19. Of all the places I thought I would get my daily reminder that a Cleveland team blew a championship, this thread on these here boards wasn't any of them.
  20. I would have gone with it sounds like a Bon Jovi lyric. Yours is better.
  21. I'd forgotten that the Monsters won the Calder Cup. Also, I think 7 would have sufficed.
  22. You haven't lived until you watch a baseball game with 3500 other people in a stadium that seats 80,000.
