Ohio State/Ohio University and Michigan/Michigan State are both within 100 miles of each other as well. Lots of states do not have very even population distribution and proximity tends to amplify rivalries if anything, so it's not a shocking trend.

The original flag helmet and jerseys were cool and wild, perfect as an alt for Maryland. But I HATE the current flag helmet because of the hand-painted texturing or whatever it is. UGLY.

These Virginia logos and the Rams gradient seem to indicate that this may be a new trend going forward (or perhaps it's ongoing and I'm catching up). By adding shades they can create more detailed graphics without going outside the color palette or adding black lines; adding depth without making the image 3D. It goes against the idea that simpler is better, especially in sports, but I'd be surprised if we didn't see a lot more teams doing similar things to their logo packages.

Looking forward to the reveal where they explain how the camel toe represents tradition.

I like the IS state logo a lot, even as part of the script. My issue is that they have multiple state shape logos now and I think they should just use the S one. Slide that over to the S in STATE for the school script.

Don't agree on everything or have as strong of feelings, but I would agree that yellow pants v yellow pants isn't a great look and this Super Bowl gets a pass aesthetically for traditional uniforms without taking anything else into account.

Hating the kelly in ineed unpopular. Personally, I LOVE the kelly look. But I agree with you that the dark green is simply superior aesthetically.

The stripeless brown pants remain bad.

I wouldn't mind a return to kelly but I like the midnight green. The issue with the Eagles current identity IMO is the over-reliance on black. They could eliminate black entirely and just focus on the dark green and bright silver for a cleaner look.

Some are to protect players, some to keep the game fair, etc. Doesn't make it any less boring to watch flag after flag/see great plays overturned/games determined by penalties. Either it's a problem that can be addressed (adjusting rules/gameplay to reduce the violations/interference) or we live with it and stop being surprised that someone finds the sport boring/dumb. And yes, even showing us what happens in the booth would eventually be boring/is already boring to people who aren't nerds. Apologies for continuing a technically off topic discussion. Ummmm... I hope the XFL continues using nicknames on jerseys?

The name is generic, being like the 5th "Texans" in the states pro football history. The colors are generic as it gets in the states, red and navy. The uniforms don't have any unique elements other than a number font. And I'm not a fan of a mostly navy logo on a navy helmet (the white was the way to go for me). That being said, no need to change. It's modern, simple, and inoffensive. Just isn't going anywhere high in my uniform rankings.

I can see the "boring" argument for literally any sport. The NFL is by no means immune. @Ted Cunningham made some great points, many I hadn't even considered before. Parity IMO is good but as a result of the sport itself I think football tends to be less individualistic, and so the differences between teams are mired. You don't see player's faces so that takes away an element of individuality as well. We rarely have real "stars" in the league that aren't quarterbacks or their wide receiver counterparts. My issue with the NFL in terms of excitement: Too many flags. I'm in favor of increasing safety measures, but there are so many complex rules for fans to keep track of and so many penalties. It not only sucks because it constantly kills the flow of the game for reviews or ref announcements, but penalties determine so much about an NFL game. Drives are constantly killed or saved by discipline/lack thereof rather than the talent and execution of plays by the teams. It's boring (I still like watching football, just making the point). And for football in general, most plays are either a missed catch or a gain or minimal yards by a simple catch and or run. Most of the game time is spent watching a bunch of dudes get in line. Field goals are only exciting if it's over 50 yards or at the end of a game. The extra point is kinda dumb. The kickoff is dumb and dangerous. Punts are boring unless it's returned for a TD. Not hard to figure why someone would find the game boring. I prefer college football but I think that's largely due to the fact that in college I get to root for Ohio State while in the NFL I root for the Browns. I'd much rather the Browns win a title but even with the Browns having talent on their roster at the moment I'd take an OSU game 9/10. EDIT: As an example, I've recently watched some football with my girlfriend who basically doesn't care about sports. I actually enjoy explaining things during the game to an enthusiastic listener so it's been fun. She mentioned how many of the penalties/rules feel like whoever created the sport kept coming up with excuses for why they win, "nuh uh you can't touch me after this many yards it's against the rules," etc. etc.

They should never change them. They are absolute classics. But also pinstripes are ugly as hell in most cases.

Brown on brown is bad. The lack of white outside of the helmet is bad. But I'd still take it over their usual look. Looking forward to 2020.

In my dumb opinion, which I may have stated elsewhere, Americans spots only allows three types of team banners: -Division Championship (in most cases you should list all years on one banner, Wild Card for baseball is fine) -Conference Championships (only do a ceremony/rings in baseball) -League Championship (duh) Regular season "championships" don't count if the actual champion is determined in the playoffs.

I don't know if I've ever been bothered by a facemask. Even when it's the "wrong" color it just doesn't matter all that much to me. Gray works if it's in the scheme or on a traditional look. White or a team color works in most instances. It's a matter of preference moreso than egregious wrongdoing IMO. And if I was doing a re-design or a tweak of a team's look, it'd be my last priority along with other equipment and under-clothes. And I have to agree strongly with the sentiment regarding football striping being discussed. It looks cheap and dated when a team includes space between stripes, like the Packers do and like the Browns used to (up to the redesign, the touching stripes are far superior to the below). However, as long as you're consistent about it, I'll live with it.

I think one-offs and alts with brighter versions of a team's colors can be fun, but it's ultimately a gimmick. This, however, where they change to a bright-ass color, COULD work but I'm on the fence with the Hawks. I'm not in love with the old yellow or blue looks, so I'm not opposed to change entirely, but it's strange that the Hawks got so much love for updating the Pac-man logo, indicating that fans were ready for a return to a more classic look, and they went hard the other way. Don't hate the look, but we all knew as soon as they released them that they aren't built to last.

Hot take! Nice. I would concede MLB but that's basically it. How are NFL uniforms boring? I assume then that you only care about NHL jerseys? As someone who doesn't watch hockey, it's hard for me to care about them. And even then, I can only appreciate or dislike certain sweaters, do not care about the shorts or other equipment. Soccer kits bore me and the advertising on the chest makes me lack respect for them.

I saw this cap a few days ago as well. Obviously it's used all over the place but this one surprised me. Knew the Maroons were the first though. Do they still use it/have ANY sports?

I like the gold outline because it creates consistency with the logo. If they use the black version anywhere else, it still has gold rather than missing a team color. And the three outlines matches the number of outlines on the gold version of the logo.

The script on the chest is cool. The idea of black/dark pants is cool. And piping could help in a modern template. Everything else I disagree with. The collars are obvious, but the SOX on the cap is inferior to their current logo AND is a complete mismatch with the chest script. The untucked look is sloppy as well. And the sox themselves are fine but nothing special.

But you gotta have the guys off the bench wearing jerseys and not warmup jackets. Cause that Tor/Tex brawl has Rangers with red caps and blue jackets muddling the fight.
