  1. Would the P sticking out meet court regulations? I have no idea myself just curious because it seems like it'd be easy to mix up the baseline for the referees.
  2. The Adidas logo literally interrupting the uniform.
  3. It's a shame Middle Tennessee doesn't have a logo without the letters, because lightning horses are cool AF. Navy looks great. My only concern is that their rival Army does the logoless gold helmet thing as well, but that's just another reason for them to be petty which is fine. Dunno if it fits in with this aesthetic but I don't think Navy will ever top this:
  4. Don't think OP has been topped yet despite some solid contenders. I always thought bone was stupid and this is all a matter of personal taste but... That's a great looking game. Modern Seahawks getting way too much play in this thread.
  5. I actually might prefer the 2nd option there, though that might change if the stripes weren't truncated on the pants. Both options work well on the sleeves though.
  6. Pitt: No real notes but are both sleeve stripe patterns the same in terms of stripe width? Seems like it but the yellow (on the home) seems thicker than the blue (on the road) because of how the colors interact. Mizzou: I like using sharp angles to match the logo since Mizzou doesn't have an established classic look like a lot of the SEC (and agreed, mismatching pants stripes a pet peeve even if it's untouchable look like LSU). To me, the sleeves are better than the pants, and I would prefer to see that same concept applied to both (slashing stripe creating two long points in opposite directions). As it is, other than pointiness I feel there's some disconnect between the three elements. And I definitely prefer the black helmet, it blends in the logo so well.
  7. The Cavs would be fools not to base the next set on their current city jersey. It's a popular look for an up and coming team while evoking some of the best uniforms in franchise history (70s candy cane, 2005 navy jersey).
  8. I've always felt Bowling Green had good helmets (similar to the Browns which is iconic), but their uniforms felt disjointed, like they picked modern elements at random to use (side panels, team name on the pants, various stripes & sleeve caps). This feels like the right move as it's simple, avoids being boiler-plate, and it's not so out-there that it'd have to be replaced within 5 years. Like Boise State as well. I get why people dislike trends/fads (such as the giant, one-sided logo) but if you pioneered something and want to own it, why not? Same way I feel about the blue turf, nobody else needs to do that but Boise State can get away with it.
  9. How bleak things have become that we have people pining for the days when an arena was named for a bland office supply box store.
  10. Lemme just hop in to say you're both wrong.
  11. I'd be curious about a gold outline, but I imagine a double wouldn't jive with the otherwise minimalist look.
  12. Minnesota is a mess right now and I think this concept does a good job of simplifying things. They don't need an oar on their head or a chrome gold helmet, and their usage of white is frustrating & perplexing. The Gophers look their best in a solid color look, and while my initial reaction was "meh" to the stripes I appreciate their inspiration coming from the logo. I actually kinda like the 90s chest Ms but I think a lot of Minnesota fans hated that look so it was smart to make it less obnoxious. Don't mind the gold helmet alt and I like not including white pants, but a gold jersey might be a good addition.
  13. This is a well constructed argument that makes a lot of great points even though I still disagree personally. Being overly detailed is not necessary/can be a detriment for sports logos. And if someone sees character in the original Jags logo, that's a matter of individual taste. But I still prefer the new logo. The Cheeto puff spots didn't work for me and when I actually look at the original, the face makes me think of the Waterboy's Dad (Roberto). The new mark feels more professional, but you're right that it violates some commonly accepted design rules. The Lions are a team that strikes the balance really well. They updated their outline to be more accurate & slightly more detailed, but it's still enough of an emblem, as opposed to a photo-realistic portrayal, to feel right for a sports team. Doubt the Jags will ever handle their identity that well.
  14. LSU: First, I want to thank you for fixing the pants stripe, which is basically the only thing holding their current uniforms back. As for the logo, I like the concept of matching the fonts and having the tiger head in the primary. That said, the LSU font does not seem to curve well, it comes off quite awkward. I'd swap in the current helmet font or try something new. And agreed on the double outline. I'd make the logo on gold match the helmet and the logo on purple just swap the purple/white.
  15. I'm fine with the black stroke on the numbers, but my tweak would be a white facemask. It just looks so good when they opt for it. Otherwise, another well done concept. The Wildcats belly stripe just doesn't quite work for me, so I've always thought just putting it back on the sleeve would be an easy fix. Love this edit, adding the white gives the stripes a nice pop and balances well with the numbers.
  16. Duke: The thin stripes feel almost like there is something missing to me. I think it really comes together well on the black uniform, though. Did you consider putting the point on both ends? No idea if that would even look better, but the though crossed by mind, especially for the shoulders. Oregon State: Love these. Agreed on the inspiration unis but you made them more distinct and clean by dropping the cream and adding the notches. Really well put together.
  17. Dunno if you know, but are the guys in the backfield muddy as hell or do they have stripeless pants?
  18. I personally think K-State has one of the best looks in all of college football, so you'd have a hard time getting me on board for changes this drastic. In a vacuum, the design works well enough but feels more fitting of a G5 program, which I suppose would make sense for K-State given the trajectory of the Big 12. Purple and white is beautiful and much preferable to a muddied dark purple & black look of some teams (Northwestern, TCU), but I prefer K-State's current balance with the silver. Side note on purple college teams: Washington has a gorgeous helmet but their uniforms don't live up to it.
  19. Another classic set that I would agree doesn't need much work. I like the tweaks and, although I personally love the dog collar, I think a lot of Georgia fans would agree with you here.
  20. Well done with all of these, the Pats concept really stands out. Your take on the shoulder stripes offers a modern look that still harkens to the beloved throwback they are currently failing to live up to. The Miami Vice alt makes me think... What if all the Miami teams had a vice-inspired alt but they maintained their individual identity? The Heat have obviously gone pretty far with the city jerseys, but their primaries remain great. The Dolphins have a unique look as it is, but I love this alt. And the Marlins latest rebrand still doesn't seem like something with staying power. It'd be much better if they returned to the teal & black while throwing a vice alt in as well.
  21. I love fulfilling the dream of Reds fans everywhere by ditching the black for Wisconsin. In practice, I worry whether that would simply make them blend in more with Nebraska in the same conference. Then again, Nebraska also has a hard-on for throwing black into their identity. Either way, looks sharp & professional. Tulane has possibly my favorite color scheme in sports and your consistent, traditional design let's them shine. The wave effect is really cool but might need to be bigger, as it's very subtle to the point where I could see it coming off like a manufacturer mistake. Also the Wave mascot rules and should be the only logo they put on that helmet, IMO. WVU looks awesome as well. Their uniforms are usually fairly simple, which you maintain, but the mountain sleeve stripe really elevates the set by making it distinct. Honestly impressed, the way that element provides color balance while tying in the logo & nickname in one fell swoop. College football offers such a breadth of unique identities to work with and this series is off to a great start!
  22. The extra wide piping definitely stuck out, but there's clearly inspiration from the Mets given the format (blue wordmark w/ white stroke & orange shadow on black). Plus the Mets have worn a black-billed cap. Haven't seen them pair it with pinstripes but it is part of their identity. Oh look, they've even thrown a right sleeve patch in there at some point!
  23. I've always found the purple and black to be a very muddied pairing, so I would really like to see Northwestern own purple & white, which really works here. Personally, I'd swap the gray facemask for white, it looks so good. The pirate head is kinda hokey to me, but keeping the crossbones motif is really smart. I know they pretty much exclusively go by ECU and not EC, but I'd be curious about the logo without the U making it harder to read.
  24. It's always funny to see the GP's reaction to these things. All over Reddit the comments were complaining that it looked like a Bengals jersey... A set the Browns have basically worn before. That is mostly the same as our current road uniform. With a throwback helmet we've worn before (essentially). And it's not just the drop shadow, which of course the Bengals used to wear, but some were arguing that the sleeves were too similar. Yes, our classic sleeve stripes seen on our uniforms since the 40s are too reminiscent of Boomer Esiason suddenly.
