  1. Bit by bit it's becoming clear that the best look for the Cowboys is the Indianapolis Colts.
  2. One of the clunkiest little anniversary logos I've seen in a long time. I went in expecting a fiesta celebration and got a box of dark gears.
  3. Not nearly as down on this new logo as others. The current script was mediocre and felt like a placeholder. The era of using the stylized Z was pointless to me. Going back to a monogram A makes sense, especially for unifying with the academic logo. It's not as if there is a well of great design in the school's past to draw from, so they made something simple which is... fine. I think a little more effort could've made the subtle Z work, which may have improved its reception. You need the kangaroo around for the branding and I think they should've included an updated Zippy in this unveiling. If the school/program has any interest in expanding its reach (which I don't think this is meant to), they would need to triple down on the kangaroo since it's the only interesting part of the brand. And while I wasn't in love with the previous zoomy font, it really makes more sense for the wordmark to be italicized or show some form of motion. But I guess when you were zipping you gotta zap before you can zip again. Anyway, FEAR THE ROO.
  4. You've been on a hot streak lately. UCF and App State are both clear upgrades, bringing stronger color balance and establishing a clear visual identity while drawing from their pasts. New Mexico doesn't have an iconic look that I'm aware of, but the state's flag is arguably the best in the union so I think that's a smart, distinct direction to take them. Since you made an alt for New Mexico, I'd be curious on your take on a Citronauts uniform for UCF.
  5. IDK if they plan on making it permanent, but I was annoyed by the blue 42 (hut hut hike) until I saw that it was the 75th anniversary.
  6. Maybe I'm alone, but I wish the Rays stuck with the plaid bills. Looked good and gave them something unique to build around that wasn't a gradient or muddy colors. It'd work even better with the brighter blue and yellow too. Astros city is good and I agree that limiting the gradient and mono-navy both work. Monochrome makes sense in baseball. There are colors that are a bit too garish for it (70s Indians come to mind), but most work IMO. The Guardians, now that I've seen them in action a bit: Still don't like the all-navy piping (especially since it makes the navy alt so boring), but that's a carryover issue. The logo and font package works pretty well on the uniform, definitely feels like an upgrade even though it was mostly a lateral move. The G wings logo would make more sense if they dropped the Gs and just gave the baseball wings and a laurel. That said, I don't mind it and I feel like it fits in with other cartoony alt logos around the league. Certainly works from a distance as a sleeve patch. Don't mind that they kept the shiny helmets, but I wish they'd raise the monogram cause it just looks cool to me.
  7. Oh I love these. The update on the home would make me so happy. With the current design the sleeve stripes make us blend in a bit with Wisconsin & Nebraska. I personally love the throwback stripes but I don't mind saving them for the playoffs and making this concept the new primary.
  8. Bright pastels are the hot ticket. You got a warm city? Well we've got a bright pastel alternate waiting for you.
  9. Agreed on both counts. I'd also say UM should ditch the stickers and leaf it to schools with helmets that don't get as cluttered. For Ohio State, I would accept keeping the regular season template IF they made the middle stripe gray on the home jerseys. Doesn't make sense to me to add the gray for the away stripes but leave the colors redundant on the home. The basketball team figured this out but the football team won't seem to budge. A couple minor touches I would love, but no one else is beholden to: -Silver leaves on the back of the neck to represent our national titles (used on an old alternate) -Block O instead of full primary under the collar
  10. Can’t speak to the Jazz’s rebrand but that All-Star logo looks great! I like the format they’re using, it gives a hint of local flare without being too generic or gaudy.
  11. It's interesting that the desert cardinal actually has a yellowish beak, as opposed to the red beaks of... non-desert cardinals.
  12. This would inevitably lead to a mass of memes that are just putting player's faces on the front part of the Cardinals logo. Cards don't need to change their helmet. Just simplify the uniform, they are a perfect candidate for a Nike bare bones rebrand as opposed to the Nike over-thinking the obvious rebrand.
  13. LOVE this adjustment on the stripes. With or without the helmet stripe this would be a great look. Good work on Florida as well. Their biggest issue is their mismatching stripes on the orange jersey/pants next to the helmet.
  14. Ohio State has decided on a design for their new turf and I think the changes are a big upgrade. It always bothers me, given the school colors of scarlet & gray, when they use black without gray. That was the case before in the endzones and at the 50. Now they have a good balance of both colors. That plus the detail additions of the Buckeye leaves and helmet stripes make this overall look a lot sharper IMO. https://www.thelantern.com/2022/02/football-ohio-state-announces-new-look-field-design/?fbclid=IwAR3sqDVhLJfnPuKcGz-Wtast6JBI8Q1a7wwOPFm07yJu0T_J1JapSBcI1BQ
  15. Great thread, love Jon Bois. You said no more Big Ten but I'd really like to see your take on Ohio State.
  16. Not surprised to see the reactions in here, what a mess. Pros: The primary helmet is nice (despite the lack of branding consistency on the W). I thought removing the helmet stripes was a mistake on the WFT uniform and the single gold stripe works. The top of the burgundy jersey looks fine, strictly on aesthetics. The name is inoffensive, which is the :censored:ing least they could do. Same with the logo. I don't mind the top/bottom line motif. Cons: The introduction of black detracts from everything else their doing. There is pretty much nothing cohesive or redeemable about the white jersey and nobody asked for a Steelers color rush set from Washington (the number font doesn't help the Pitt comparison). If you're going to put a logo on the front of the helmet, don't be a wimp. SLAP A BIG OL W ON THERE. I think they made terrible choices with the sleeve stripes. The burgundy is their best look easily and they decided to steal the Chiefs stripes instead of using any number of great unique options from their own history. Self own. Stripeless pants in monochrome, :censored: off.
  17. My hometown Akron Zips! Pros: Returning to a proper primary logo on the helmet is much needed. I think the full body Zippy could also work here but the A+Roo is great. Zippy on the collar is a great touch so I'm glad you kept it. The font choices work well. For a lot of teams out there, the attempts to make their logos look like their zooming by seems silly and forced. But the Zips are called the Zips, so it has always made sense. While I'm not a big fan of the new stripe they've been using, you definitely improved it with some color & consistent application. Con(s): Can't say I'm fond of the OKC-style stripes. I agree they may work better if more pronounced. Another possible tweak would be making the shift in the middle of the stripe (and perhaps just doing the one rather than zig there and zag back). Maybe even making the break diagonal so it feels more Z-like?
  18. Not a fan of either version. The Tulsa font is nicer without the extra thin outline but the interaction with the flags remains janky. I'd either move the flags or just use them for separate logos.
  19. I noticed the diamond on the Spurs uniform as well, as it seemed very Bulls-like but they do have a history with it: For the Bulls the diamond is standard, of course.
  20. Timeline doesn't really work out but that was my first thought after the 2021 debacle with the obvious Pacers references in Atlanta. Maybe they'll be wearing wine & gold in Salt Lake next year.
  21. A few years early but the 1965 NFL Championship was a perfect looking football game. Biased but come on.
  22. I was playing the MLB9Innings22 app game and they have updated Cleveland's logos and uniforms. Didn't notice any official release but it looks like what you'd expect for the home & road (same template with new logos/workdmarks). My question is why are the sleeve logos on the right now? The last time the franchise has a sleeve logo it was Wahoo on the left. I saw a lot of mock-ups (such as below) for what the Guardians would do and they all seemed to go with the right sleeve as well. Does anyone know the reason for this change?
  23. I adore Tennessee's orange & white scheme and actually love the checkerboard as a motif, but their half & half usage didn't feel like a lasting look. I think the stripe streamlining works here, though Tennessee could go a number of directions that I'd still love as long as they stick to the primary colors.
  24. I think Nevada's silver helmets look great and it feels proper given the state's nickname, so I'd personally drop the navy helmets. Like the addition on the sleeve caps.
  25. I like the pattern addition to the stripes, but I think it might work better with a little less subtlety. As is it could look like a fabric stretching issue or a template mistake. The fleur is also a smart touch. I'm curious as to how it'd look with the flames as well, just because the shape feels bit lost with so much red on red.
