  1. Those made me confused for like 4 years straight after they wore them on whether the Patriots were in white or in silver during any given road game
  2. Kind of interesting last night that ESPN made this graphic of the longest title droughts and in the process used the style of logos they use for each of the 4 sports
  3. Yep, bracing myself for the absolute cluster:censored: of a scorebug after seeing this
  4. Last year, and I'm shocked they continue to milk the hell out of it after I thought they'd only do it the first go round
  5. Well, the CAA having the two Long Island schools (with respect to my grad school of LIU they aren't really at the same level as the other two) would be something
  6. Time to drag this back to the usual point of emphasis in this thread
  7. Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse -Bears 3rd down tornado siren -Patriots 3rd down foghorn -Vikings 3rd down Inception sensory overload or whatever -Bills 3rd down train horn
  8. Because each layer of Coyotes stuff gets even More Coyotes
  9. After the Tom Goes to the Mayor episode in 2013 I'll still believe it when it actually happens but at this juncture
  10. Better comparison for the Lions game might be the Knicks Christmas game. Every year, no matter how terrible, they get the nooner on Christmas Day. Though that game's also a weird spot where although it's a Christmas Day game, it's probably moreso a cornerstone of a NYC Jewish Christmas where it kickstarts the Chinese Food and a Movie tradition, so I dunno if it's real apples to apples comparison
  11. On my commute home every day I see UBS Arena on the Grand Central going over the Clearview, and it does look really in place with the Belmont Park campus. Only issue is about 2 or 3 weeks ago they added an LED banner on the outside promoting upcoming events and it sticks out like a sore thumb. But yeah, I'd definitely say it's on the unique end for arenas. Can't say there's been much in terms of arenas going for a retro facade like there have been in baseball and they certainly got that going with UBS Arena, though I guess Little Caesars Arena fits the bill (EDIT: okay one end looks like it did, but then I actually looked at a photo of other sides of it and although it's not super duper future like other arenas, a lot of it screams "2010s luxury downtown apartment complex"). Also the lower roof certainly makes it stand out a bit. Tonight's game at least sounded like the Coliseum so I'll have to see how the acoustics are when I go there in person sometime this winter. Other cool tidbit is they made Section 329 a safe standing room section a la Tottenham Hotspur Stadium which is perfect for that group.
  12. Do you vote on any NFL rule or business related stuff on behalf of ownership or things like that? Got some per session money heading my way that I may look into purchasing a share
  13. I joked around with @raysox after this first came out that Fox is totally going to come out with some ungodly scorebug for the Clash, face a huge swarm of backlash, and reverse course to something else for the 500 like they've already done like 3 times before when trying a new graphics package out
  14. I think that we should consider having Fox Sports' graphics department arrested
  15. Guess it's time to dust off the "Nike alts were the best jerseys the Ducks/Mighty Ducks have ever had" take. I dunno, jade as a primary works a little bit better than eggplant as a primary
  16. lololololol no they're bringing back the same NBA scorebug for like the 8th straight season
  17. And whaddya know, ESPN's now got the SOG counter up all the time for tonight's ESPN+ feed. Hockey Twitter terrorists win again
  18. Worst part is how much hockey twitter wants everyones heads cut off if there's not a SOG counter on the scorebug. Meanwhile I'm all
  19. Sportsnet finally finally finally updated their graphics package. Quite bright but otherwise thank god that 2009 ass scorebug is gone
  20. It was the one leaguewide jersey program that was executed well, so hopefully they hit again this go round. Just hope they space it out a year or two (and let teams use them for 2 years) so it doesn't become overload like the NBA City program
  21. Leave it to Fox to come up with one of the worst scorebug redesigns I've ever seen. Also gets into my nitpick of networks not having unified looks and boy this clearly is meant for only baseball and it looks so out of place with everything else On a side note, ESPN's new graphics set for the NHL based on The Point show looks pretty slick, utilizing both primary and secondary colors for teams. Wait and see on the in-game graphics but so far so good
  22. I like that it looks pretty unified with what they had last week for the NHL on TNT with a few tinkers for the scorebug that borrows from the last set. They do the same for the NBA in a few weeks and it's probably the first time since like 2003 Turner Sports has had a unified graphics package for sports
  23. Hey now, that's where the "almost every from championship week onward" kicks in for Fox's Big East and CBS' B1G, A10, Mountain West, and Missouri Valley telecasts
  24. Getting our first look at the NHL on TNT graphics tonight
  25. Yeah, there was that 6 month run of being THE FUN NETWORK! and then they shifted gears to become the place for even hotter takes than ESPN. NBCSN could've been that alternative around the time they were on that hot streak landing the EPL and NASCAR, but missing out on other contracts and then NBC Sports deciding to commit suicide by getting rid of NBCSN and then kinda giving up on putting on an effort on everything besides SNF once they lost the NHL contract happened. Complete aside, I don't think it's hit anyone just yet about the absolute duopoly ESPN and Turner are going to have with winter sports with this NHL deal. NBA? ESPN and TNT. NHL? ESPN and TNT. Almost every meaningful college hoops game from championship week onward? ESPN and Turner (plus CBS). It's going to become a lot more apparent once football season's over and done with.
