  1. I understand the point you're making. It's very true that a new team would need to carve out its own niche in the city, but it's my personal opinion that an MLB team could make it work, looking at how fast the city is growing and how many large businesses make their home in the area. But I completely understand your views, and I honestly have to agree that any new MLB team would probably do better off the bat in a smaller market like Portland or San Antonio.
  2. Very fair. I still don't think that NASCAR/baseball fans overlap all that much, but the effect on the Hornets would be much greater. It helps that the baseball/basketball season doesn't overlap much, but your point stands. That said, I want to a Nationals game last year, in the lower bowl, for $15 a ticket. I'm not saying that it's not more expensive in general, but there are cheap tickets to MLB games. Plus, with an MLB team replacing the MiLB Knights, those fans would spend on the Major League team, presumably.
  3. You do make good points about ticket prices. Charlotte wasn't exactly in a place to land teams in the 90s with the city's money tied up in Charlotte Coliseum and (now) Bank of America Stadium. Plus, there wasn't an ownership group rich enough to place a bid. There is now. And I'll say that Atlanta has the Hawks, Falcons, and even hotter summers plus a ton of other events, like Charlotte does, yet the Braves don't seem to struggle with attendance. The Knights have at times rivaled the Marlins and Rays in attendance, with an uncompetitive team. There are baseball fans here, and I'd wager more than enough to make a Major League team work. I honestly don't think that NASCAR/racing has much of an effect on other sports, either. Memorial Day weekend, the weekend before, and a weekend in early October are enough to make a dent in a baseball team, which would have plenty of other dates to work with. If anything, they would affect the Panthers' attendance, but that clearly isn't true. With a stadium Uptown like BB&T Ballpark currently is, a Charlotte MLB team would work incredibly well.
  4. What markets would you suggest? I can think of Portland and San Antonio, but why would you purposefully leave out Charlotte? MLB might not be as popular as it once was, but it's still a major sport. People will show up no matter where, and leaving out Charlotte, a place that has ruled Minor League attendance for years, just because the city is also large enough to support other teams doesn't add up.
  5. Never! We won't rest until we have all 5 major sports in Charlotte! (I'm only slightly joking.) I would love to see an MLB in Charlotte one day, and at this point it seems like more of a "when, rather than if" and Charlotte would be the top relocation destination for the Rays... if we hadn't pumped millions into a non-expandable minor league stadium. Oh well. It'll happen someday. The bigger problem is getting the Canes down to Charlotte...
  6. I've always felt like using an actual piston would help the Pistons become more distinct, even if it doesn't have the nostalgic factor the current logo has.
  7. I really hope the Tourists would stay. I go to games every so often when I visit my grandparents and McCormick Field is a beautiful stadium, and from what I can tell the team isn't doing awful attendance-wise. Hopefully we lose zero teams, but if this does happen, North Carolina baseball would be in trouble (5 of those teams you listed are from the Tar Heel State, being Down East, Fayetteville, Asheville, Kannapolis, and Burlington).
  8. Honestly, that Québec update is my favorite football concept ever. The name, logo, and uniforms all come together so nicely. Amazing work!
  9. Super Bowl 50 (I ing hate Von Miller and his cheating .) Every single day Michael Jordan has been the owner of the Hornets (outside of them actually changing to the Hornets). (On the flip side, Super Bowl 51 is probably the best sports memory I have. Either that, or the 2015 NFCC Game where the Panthers stomped the Cardinals. Or, the 2015 Thanksgiving game where we murdered the Cowboys and Tony Romo on national TV.)
  10. A's to Portland Rays to Montreal full-time Expansion to Charlotte and Vancouver AL East: Baltimore Boston New York Yankees Toronto AL North: Chicago White Sox Cleveland Detroit Minnesota AL Central: Colorado Kansas City Houston Texas AL West: Los Angeles Angels Portland Seattle Vancouver NL East: Montreal New York Mets Philadelphia Pittsburgh NL South: Atlanta Charlotte Miami Washington NL Central: Chicago Cubs Cincinnati Milwaukee St. Louis NL West: Arizona Los Angeles Dodgers San Francisco San Diego
  11. I agree. I think that the Ravens are really close, but the visual clash of black and purple is too much for me. I think they look terrible when wearing black/purple. I'd prefer that they emphasize the purple while keeping most of what they have. The number font looks awful and doesn't belong on a football uniform, and the logo is too detailed to work well (and the B on it looks bad when reversed on the helmet). They're really close, but calling them perfect is a stretch for me.
  12. While the A's moving wouldn't be ideal, my money's on Portland if it does happen. I think the A's identity fits really well there, and it provides Seattle another PNW AL team so they don't have such a bad schedule (though two Texas teams is what really does the damage). I think Vegas would be incredibly short-sighted (as I believe the Raiders moving there is) and would harm the A's and MLB in the long run.
  13. I love burgundy, but the black/blue looks much stronger to me. Every other team looks awesome!
  14. Alright, this might be my most controversial opinion yet: Nike didn't 'ruin' the NBA. Are there too many rotating jerseys? Yeah, for sure. But outside of the ridiculous names for 'white', 'colored', and 'alternate' jerseys, the uniforms match-ups haven't been terrible. Some really good ideas have come from these alternates, like Utah's gradient jerseys, or the Clippers' powder blues from a couple years ago. Would the league be better off uniform-wise without Nike? Yeah, probably. But they haven't totally destroyed any sense of dignity or consistency that teams have like some seem to think/suggest.
  15. Well, there are the Oilers. But I'm assuming the picture is of the "O's" cap (since I can't see it) and I have to disagree. I'd rather they have a "B" for Baltimore or just stick with the bird.
  16. Meh, the names are okay, the logos are sub-par. They all feel generic and disconnected, which is not really what you want in a start-up league. The Vipers logo in particular looks really different to the rest, and I think it's because the lines are thinner. The rest all look fine, I guess, not a huge fan of Houston's, the blue and red look too dark in my opinion. Kinda upset they didn't go with Gargoyles for New York (it seemed inevitable, but I guess not), but Guardians works as a substitute. Overall, I think the AAF looked better, and much more cohesive, since looks were just about the only good thing about that league.
  17. Seattle Kraken in the XFL? There's something I can get behind.
  18. I think the green/orange logo is the viper, and I bet it'll be Tampa Bay. I hope not every name is some "extreme animal/generic adjective" descriptor, and we get some actual thought put into the names and logos.
  19. I personally prefer to have NOB on baseball jerseys. I generally think they fill out the space on the back nicely, and help in identifying players. Not every team needs it, like the Yankees, but I don't get why people want the Dodgers to drop them. I'd rather have the city/geographic name on both the home/road than have the nickname on both. Of course, nickname on home and city name on away is ideal, but I'd rather have the Mavericks' naming scheme than the Hornets'.
  20. Personally I think #7 looks the best, but it would look even better without the fin on it.
  21. Red and white is also an excellent option. I honestly really like their red "North" jerseys, so maybe keeping that general style is the best way to go. Of course, they'd need to actually put "Toronto" on the jerseys, but I really like the template they have. Going red/white would definitely be a way to keep the red-centric identity while staying unique.
  22. I think what the Raptors should do is reintroduce purple, but have it replace black as the dark color. Keep red as the primary color, keep your "We The North" stuff (but keep it off the uniform) and utilize the chevrons more (especially since Houston got rid of theirs). The Raptors have an excellent foundation, but I think a couple tweaks could make it perfect.
  23. Montreal might be trouble-free, but I think Charlotte would work fine as well. It wouldn't involve any realignment, and while any Major League team would be stuck in the 10,000 seat BB&T Ballpark until they managed to get a new stadium built, I feel like it could work fine for a couple years.
