  1. Last year they had the neon style to fit Vegas, though clearly that didn't happen as planned.
  2. Great logo, if they had gone by just Gotham FC it would've been perfect.
  3. I like what you've got going on here, just one thing with the Charlotte entry: the Hurricanes play in Raleigh, not Charlotte. You could label it a "Carolina" logo, but Charlotte alone doesn't work, sadly. Everything is really nice, both Indy and Phoenix are incredible!
  4. The team actually ended up making a t-shirt with the logo because people liked it so much. We might actually see this used on a jersey in due time.
  5. I agree, it's a clever reference to the team's name and certainly doesn't look bad. Maybe we can get it on a shirt or as a third jersey crest.
  6. Aaaaaaaand it's an April Fool's joke. I actually kinda like the logo, Maybe we can get an alternate jersey for next year's April Fool's Day.
  7. We've had Chubby since the team was reincarnated in the '90s, no way he goes away entirely. Maybe he's not in the logo, but I'm sure the mascot will remain.
  8. From what I've heard (all rumors, nothing concrete) it seems as though Dundon pissed off the Checkers. I'm sad to see what was essentially our Calder Cup-winning team shipped off to the team we beat but whatever. In other news, the Checkers posted this on Twitter: From what I tell: Red and black is staying (booo) The logo is a roundel with "Charlotte Checkers" outside The Charlotte crown is right in the middle I'm excited to see what we'll get. Sad the team isn't moving on from red, but I suppose it is our most successful look.
  9. Absolutely not. The Checkers name has been the name for Charlotte hockey since 1960, when the Charlotte Clippers were renamed (the former Baltimore Clippers whose arena burned down. They moved temporarily to Charlotte then moved full-time the next year. They were the first hockey team based on the Southeast). The name came from a name-the-team contest and references both checking in hockey as well as the checkered flag of auto racing.
  10. As announced a couple days ago, the Charlotte Checkers are getting a new logo: This image can be seen for a split second during the video: If that's a sneak peek of the logo, the Checkers would be the first team to use the Charlotte crown in their logo. I saw red in the video, meaning a color switch is (sadly) unlikely. I'd love to see a return to the blue and orange of the original Checkers, but I'm very excited to see what the team has in store.
  11. But should there be any tie to the original name? The 'Skins' ending is the bad part, plenty of other things start with 'red' and don't result in a racial slur. I'd try to avoid connecting things back to the old name as much as I could.
  12. Seeing "Crew" as 'incorrect' for Columbus bugs me a lot. I understand the official name is "Columbus Crew SC" but it's stupid that commentators are restricted to 'Crew SC' when that's just cumbersome. Same thing goes for the Fire, absolutely no reason those restrictions need to be that strict.
  13. When people talk about teams with identity crises, I don't think enough people mention the Cavs. They've got a trainwreck of a brand, with multiple eras of different colors and even nowadays with navy and black competing unnecessarily. That first picture with the 2000s LeBron era is fantastic, the Cavs never should've gone away from that.
  14. I'll second the opinion that the Flyers' nameplates look awful. If they wanted to say it was a historical thing, then do it on the orange jerseys only with a white nameplate and black text. It belongs nowhere near a white jersey nor alternates.
  15. Yeah, I like the rest of Cleveland's font, but the 7 feels a little disconnected. The changes to LA are nice, I agree that the monogram should stay on the teal helmet. Great work!
  16. I'm in favor of alternate helmets, but only for throwbacks. However, I know that if they drop the "safety" excuse, we'll get alternate helmets for every team and that is not something I want to see, so I'd rather we just stick with the one-helmet rule for now.
  17. I like what we've got here! Cleveland's name and scheme are nice, the whole team looks very classic. My only gripe is it feels like the number font isn't blocky enough, especially in comparison to the wordmark on the logo. I like the updates to LA as well, but I've got two suggestions here: first, take that awesome sleeve striping and try and it make work on the pants as the striping is too disjointed at the moment, and second, take off the LA on the helmet. Ottawa's jerseys are very nice, the striping is awesome and the wings work super well on the helmet. However, the logo feels a little flat, especially around the face. It's not aggressive, which is an odd choice for football but might work if the details were more defined. I love the little swirl at the top of the Admirals' logo, for whatever reason it's such a nice touch to me. No notes here, a great-looking set! The only problem might be that the two SoCal teams are blue/teal and gold/orange, though the differences are significant enough that it might be ok.
  18. The Browns one is a throwback, I don't think it's fair to include it with the rest. To counter, Jaguars, Browns, Buccaneers, Seahawks, Dolphins, Jets, etc. have all kept TV numbers after Nike redesigns (some twice!). I think TV numbers are safe for now.
  19. If it were me, I'd remove the orange, since it doesn't show up anywhere but the numbers. Making them single-color brown or brown with a gold stroke would be the way to go in my opinion.
  20. I definitely appreciate the simplicity of it. @mcrosby made a brilliant update that I really like: Combines the simplicity and general shape of the old logo with the spots and modern feel of the new one.
  21. Can't prefer that original logo while it's got packing peanuts on its head.
  22. I do prefer that color to the navy they used during the Jordan years. The initial "warm red" was ugly as all get-out, however.
  23. In what world does ESPN have leverage? I highly doubt NFL fans would be heartbroken if ESPN no longer had MNF.
  24. I really, really like Milwaukee. That's a very nice that works super well. I am wondering if the helmet would be fine with just the shield on it, which brings me to something I've noticed about your concepts: the helmet logos are almost always super complex and a little too detailed to work well as helmets. If you look at NFL teams, they use a "less is more" mentality with helmets and I think that could be applied here. Toronto looks nice, the new colors are good. Two tweaks: change the maple leaf on the whites to blue for contrast, and if at all possible, find a way to avoid the patches interfering with the striping. Charlotte is great, the new logo is a banger and the colors are beautiful. Again, only two small things here: the shoulders feel crowded with the full logo and the Nike logo there (and the Nike logo should be purple on the white) and I'm not really feeling the wordmark font, especially with the new logo. I also like Flyers as a name more than Aviators, but that's just personal preference. Minnesota is fine, I preferred the Lumberjacks and I don't think there's enough contrast between the white and ice blue to warrant them touching so much. Dallas is really good, my only complaint is the beveling on the star, which is really only visible on the sleeve and doesn't seem to match anything else in the set. The wordmark is also kinda large. Atlanta is also really good, I'd just tweak the size of the wordmark.
  25. There you go, it's Panthers blue. If you want to use the Pantone name, it's Process blue. If you want to be non-specific, light blue tends to work best, at least in my opinion.
